Civil Servant in a Romance Fantasy chapter 187

My Life in Prison - 2

My Life in Prison – 2

Good news always comes unexpectedly.

“Lord of the Tower.”

As usual, while I was working in the main room, the secretary approached me. He said to report in writing, not face-to-face, unless it was a dire situation.

I have known him for decades. I’m not a child who dares to ignore or forget what I said, so it must be that something has happened to the point of reporting it face-to-face.

“What happened?”

“The teleport wizard summoned by His Highness the Crown Prince has returned. The Inspector General is also said to have come to the island.”

It was indeed news worth reporting face-to-face.

Actually, I was secretly looking forward to it. After the prince called the teleport wizard last time, the baby came. I had a vague expectation that it would be the same this time as well.

“Yes. Get out.”

“Yes, tower lord.”

The secretary who brought the good news turned his back without adding unnecessary words.

I’m a kid who works hard, but why do I look so pretty today? Sooner or later, I will have to take care of it in the name of performance bonus.

After confirming that the secretary was leaving, I turned my gaze toward the window and saw a clear sky without a single cloud.

“It’s a good day.”

With a satisfied heart, I muttered inadvertently.

Yes, today is a really good day.

‘It should have been like this before.’

After Aga received the unprecedented punishment of being placed on probation at the academy, there was an order given to the magicians belonging to the Mage Tower. Instructions to report immediately when Aga arrives at Jedo Island.

I didn’t know anything until then, but I heard the news that my baby came belatedly. Fortunately, there was no return of Aga before I heard the news, but I don’t know when such an unfortunate thing will happen.

To come to the Aga Islands, you will inevitably come into contact with the wizards of the Mage Tower. If he comes by carriage, it means he is staying in the islands for a long time, so there is no hurry.

‘So happy.’

As I quietly put my hand on my chest, I felt my heart pounding more than usual.

I told Aga many times that he would definitely stop by the Magic Tower when he came to Jedo. It wasn’t once or twice, so even if I don’t go looking for it, he’ll come on his own.

Of course, it’s a call from the crown prince, so it won’t come soon. If it’s an issue that will come from being in the academy to the system, it won’t be a light thing.

I was already happy thinking that my baby would come.

Even if my baby comes in the evening, I’m glad from the morning I can keep waiting.

‘It’s sad that I’m the only one having children.’

Someday, even my baby will be anxious to see me. It will be like that. Because all we need is time

And the baby did not come until nightfall.

‘…It’s late.’

In my displeased mind, my hand holding the pen tensed up. I was prepared to be late, but I didn’t expect that there would be no news until night.

The moon was so high that it was savage, but I couldn’t bear to leave the tower. I wondered if my baby would come late, or if he would just go back after seeing me gone.

If you come late, I won’t let you go as long as it’s late. If it had gone back without my knowledge, I would go directly to the academy.

Because I have to take responsibility for making her lady throb in the morning. I believe that Aga is not a heartless gentleman who does not know such things.

“Tower Lord!”

“It’s noisy. What do other wizards think when they see it?”

She used to look pretty, but now she’s dizzy, so she reacted sharply.

But despite my reaction, the secretary still gave off an air of distraction. It’s strange, isn’t that child such a classy child?

“Ah, the Inspector General…”

The news about the baby we’ve been waiting for. I felt my ears perk up.

And just one word was enough for the sky-high ears to fall.

“They said they were detained!”

“…What?”

Now, what?

As soon as I heard the news, I tried to run to where the baby was.

“The Inspector General has applied for a refusal to visit today. I haven’t met anyone except the Minister of Finance.”

Although it failed due to the secretary’s dissuade.

‘No visit.’

She sat down helplessly at those words. No visitation, not wanting to meet anyone.

How much mental pain did she have to make that choice? How much, how painful…

Fortunately, the refusal to visit is only one day, not the entire detention period. Okay, let’s wait for a day or so. Let’s leave it alone for a day so that Aga can clear her mind.

“Eh, see your Excellency Duke Ma—”

“I don’t need to talk at length. I’m here to see the inspector, so tell me.”

Of course, as soon as the next day came, she headed straight to the dungeon. It is possible to visit from today.

‘A place like this.’

I looked at the back of the guard who hurriedly went inside, then looked around.

Dungeon. It’s a place that has no ties to me, and I thought it would be like that in the future. That’s why I didn’t pay any attention even if I saw it vaguely as I passed by.

‘…Oh, where…’

My hands were shaking. A hard and cold energy overflows. It is a place created with only a focus on confinement, so no warmth is felt.

Baby, my baby is in a place like this? That young and pitiful baby who is more precious than anyone else?

‘No.’

I hurriedly shook my head. His heart broke at the thought of his baby being locked up alone in such a cold place.

I want to take it out right away. I wanted to shout who I dare to imprison, what I was doing to the person who would become the duke’s companion.

But I persevered. If I make a fuss for nothing, my baby will be in more trouble.

“The prisoner… Accepted the visit.”

A different person came running, not the guard. Looking at the epaulets, he looked like a jailer.

‘Prisoner.’

The word prisoner bothered me a lot, but it seemed like the person in front of me felt burdened too, so I let go.

Thanks to that, I felt a little relieved. Even in prison, there are people who question the fact that Aga is a prisoner.

“I’ll guide you. It’s a bit deep, so the way there is complicated.”

After saying that, I followed the guard and went down the stairs. A little further down, a little deeper, the tears seemed to come out.

Are you really in a place like this? I was hoping it was a joke. I even imagined the same nonsense as if the baby might be making fun of me in an arrangement with the secretary or the jailer.

I wish I had. Even now, if you say it’s a joke, you can laugh and move on.

“Sir, thank you for coming.”

But the moment I saw the baby behind the barbed wire, my heart collapsed.

After accepting the visit with a sorrowful heart, the guard and Jong-Gong Ma arrived shortly after.

The jailer hurriedly leaves upon arrival, and Ma Jong-gong approaches the prison cell faster than that.

“Baby, are you okay?”

‘It’s not okay.’

I swallowed back the words I couldn’t bear to say. To be honest, it was okay until a while ago, but seeing my mother, Ma Jong-gong, in a place like this made me feel so ashamed and miserable.

And when I couldn’t open my mouth, Ma Jong-gong took my silence and hung his ears and grabbed his iron bars.

“How hard must it be that I can’t even speak properly…”

Majonggong’s hand holding the barbed wire trembled slightly.

But contrary to what Ma Jong-gong thought, he couldn’t speak because he was just shy.

“Has there been anything uncomfortable during your stay? You don’t miss going outside?”

I came in yesterday. There was no time to feel any particular longing or discomfort.

“I wouldn’t be able to eat properly…”

I am eating well. The minister put in too many meals, so we kept the rest and shared it.

“It must be when it gets cold. You shouldn’t even catch a cold.”

I didn’t feel cold thanks to the blankets the guard brought. On the contrary, I sweat a little when I sleep.

…It’s strange. It’s obvious that Jong-Gong Ma is saying these words because he’s worried about me.

‘Why is my conscience pricked?’

Each one became a dagger and pierced my chest mercilessly. Rather, it made me wonder if he knew my circumstances and was making fun of me.

But Prince Ma can’t lie. His truth-telling ears were weakly lowered to the floor, and his eyes and hands were trembling pitifully. That is a stage where even those who have been denied acting should give a standing ovation.

“It’s okay, sir. Don’t worry, I’m doing well.”

“Wherever you look, you’re saying it’s okay…?”

These words were intended to calm the startled elderly, but Ma Jong-gong’s condition actually worsened.

‘Damn it.’

The thought was brief. In real time, the guy inside the cage said, ‘I’m happy. I’m fine.’ Even if I said the same thing, wouldn’t it be a cry bell remark?

As soon as his mouth was shut again, Jong-gong Ma put his trembling hand into his bosom. As if desperately looking for something.

“Baby, take it.”

And not long after, a fairly familiar bottle came out of my chest.

Red ginseng concentrate made with my own blood. Come to think of it, I was stuck in a hurry and didn’t have time to take care of that.

‘Somehow my body felt sluggish.’

It must have been because I didn’t eat the usual food.

“Thank you, sir.”

As I reached out through the gap between the iron bars, Jong-gong Ma caressed my protruding hand.

It was a hand that worried about whether it would break if you touched it wrongly, or where it would leave if you missed it. That’s enough to make me ashamed.

“Baby, baby…”

The way she looked for me with a trembling voice really looked like a mother who had lost her child.

By the way, sir. That’s 5 days in prison.

Have you ever heard that it was 5 years or 50 years wrong?

‘Is it really 5 years?’

Now I feel anxious. It made me wonder if Jong-gong Ma had come running after hearing the news that my detention period had been extended.

Iseong shouted that it could not be, but the sad look of Ma Jong-gong was enough to put even that reason to sleep.

Like that, Prince Majong held my hand for a long time and didn’t let go.

I believe some of the fear of him being arrested is that he was, in a sense, a bit unhinged. His depression was severe and he was overworked my theory is she feared he went off the deep end and isn’t there for a mere five days.

Also bear in mind the stigma of being a prisoner regardless of how minor. His social life will always have this hang over him his statuses midigates that a bit but there will always be talk and it will always be used against him.

Beatrix also had no idea he was being well taken care of, she’s blinded by love and fear for him.
