10 years ago Gates with monsters and dungeons appeared in the modern world and humans became Awakeners (Hunters). MC was a 1st Gen Hunter and was famed as the fastest to become D-class, which was the highest power level at the time. He wanted to be a hero and famous, but then he was stuck at D-class while others became C/B/A/S-class.

Story starts when MC meets a nymph Oinoi scavenging through trash. Aside from monsters, intelligent fantasy races like elves can also appear from Gates, but this was the first nymph race that MC heard of appearing. The nymph reveals that the MC was cursed all along, and after breaking the curse, MC gets to C-class and becomes a monster tamer.

Oinoi has great characterization, really gives the feeling of how nymphs are. She is treated as a non-incest little sister. The romance options for MC would be with Hunters who are his juniors, an S-rank, nominal B-rank, and C-rank.

MC is decent, kinda interesting in that we don’t see a lot of MC that want to be famous, most want to hide their powers. He’s 27 years old, a bit dense regarding relationships cause all he did was training, and didn’t think anyone would be interested in him as a D-class Hunter.

Setting is a bit like Shadowrun, cyberpunk with fantasy races. Corporations hire Hunters to get resources and make tech from Gates, government has their own Hunters but corporations have a lot of power. MC is a freelancer.
