I Became the Hero Who Banished the Protagonist chapter 91

I could hear the waves crashing against the boat and the pier. I had no choice but to listen to the commander-in-chief’s explanation unfolding in front of the flagship we were boarding.

“As the hero said, since the evacuation of Baktins has been delayed, we must prioritize the protection of the residents. So, we deal with the Kraken at sea. As seen on the chart, the sea entering the port is narrow. The radius of the Kraken’s movement is also limited, and the monsters that the Kraken gathers are not allowed to enter, so we can mobilize the minimum fleet and achieve maximum efficiency.

The commander-in-chief clenched his fists, and the knights and captains accompanying him nodded their heads.

“The warrior will block the Kraken at the front of the line. We will be in charge of fire support behind them, and if there are monsters that come along, we will deal with them together.”

The commander-in-chief then closed his mouth and looked at me.

“It’s the simplest in a way, but it’s also a decision that no one can make. You literally risk your life to fight.”

give up your life The Commander-in-Chief said with extraordinary force. And for a moment, he looked at the knights lined up in silence. It seemed to give them time to ponder the meaning of these words.

“An hour before departure. so that we can all be prepared.”

Passing by me, people ran to each warship. Someone’s hand was placed on my shoulder. It was Georg, who was sunk in relatively light equipment for naval battles.

“The preparations are complete, Illroy. Are you ready to fight another disaster?”

I nodded stiffly like a wooden doll.

“We are in a hurry to get on board. You don’t know how he’s going to come in. The monsters could come in first, or the main body of the Kraken could come in alone. If the monster enters first, Daphne’s role will become more important.”

Saying that, Georg turned around. Daphne nodded at me with a firm expression. I looked into her determined eyes. no. Don’t look at me with those eyes, as if you don’t know what will happen next.

“Other wizards will support us, but most of them will focus on attacking the Kraken body from behind. As Illroy said, my role is going to be really important.”

I tried to somehow find out the difference between this Daphne and the Daphne out of the fog. However, Daphne’s tone of voice and even glance were the same.

“Leave it to me, Illroy. Because I feel like I can do anything. So, don’t worry, Illroy just focus on dealing with the Kraken. Marianne and Georg are there.”

Marianne came to my side without saying a word. A holy spear was clutched in her hand.

“Let’s hurry up. You have to tell the captain how you intend to fight.”

Georg took the lead, followed by Marianne and Daphne. I was trying to follow them with a quick step, but I stopped when I saw someone approaching me.

“Yes, people are cunning beings, aren’t they, warriors?”

Arjen looked at the backs of his colleagues as they walked away with only one corner of his mouth raised.

“I looked at the situation like it was someone else’s job, but when it became my job, my attitude changed completely. just like… just like you now Would you like to be an exception? I mean, how long can you say something carefree like a saint, holding a sword and sitting down to save people?”

I glared at Arjen, no, at the mist wearing Arjen’s mask. Power went into the hand holding the holy sword.

“You were on the lucky side. I’ve been through that adversity and I’ve never had a proper loss.”

The fog put a hand on my shoulder and turned me to look at my walking companions.

“How long will that luck follow you? The fair and cruel side of fortune is that it can always pretend to be on your side and then betray you at any time.”

“If I just break you here, I can make that mouth shut. Isn’t it?”

Mist laughed hysterically. The fog, which folded its boat forward, giggled and let out a laugh that was far from human, raised its head and looked at me. A look Arjen would never make. There was an eerie smile that seemed like it would tear your mouth apart.

“Yes, if you can break it. No matter how much you self-hypnotize yourself into ignoring me, you’re actually realizing it.”

The mist in the form of Arjen drew closer to me and pressed its face to my ear.

“The fact that it’s already too late to get out. You have no idea how to get out of here. is not it?”

I drew the holy sword and pointed it at the fog’s throat. The mist looked at me with a blank smile again.

“You think you can defeat the Kraken? What if you fail to defeat the Kraken? What would happen if you were crushed to death by the tentacles of the monster in this ‘illusion’? Well, even if you don’t die like that, what if you defeat the Kraken? What comes after that?”

I twisted my face, and the fog slowly walked towards me. Arjen’s throat is pierced by a sword. Blood came out and flowed down the sword. The fog kept walking towards me with its throat pierced.

“Check that out for yourself. It would be much better to see it for yourself than to explain it in words a hundred times. Isn’t that right, Illroy? And remember again. contradiction in your mind. In the moment of choice that will come someday, I wonder if you can really walk according to your convictions.”

Arjen at the point of the drawn sword had disappeared before he knew it. I looked at the tip of the holy sword that was shaking, then lowered it. know. The fact that what the fog shows me here right now is not reality. So, it will be fine. If only I could hold on here, consume the magic of the fog, and move on to the next, the next. What the fog says to me won’t affect anything.

“Haaang-!!!”

The wind was not strong. The sea is strangely calm. I got out onto the deck and walked slowly to the bow. The creaking of the deck boards could be heard in the low rolling swell. I bit my teeth, feeling the Kraken’s presence on my skin.

“Georg is over there because of seasickness.”

Daphne and Marianne approached beside me. Daphne pointed to the railing on the starboard side and chuckled. Georg was hanging from the railing, hanging limp like a washed and hung up cloth.

“Isn’t it funny that the person who doesn’t get seasick the most is doing that? How are you doing that to fight later?”

I tried my best not to respond. But even looking at me with worried eyes was too similar to them in real life, so I couldn’t help but feel uneasy.

“it’s okay? Your expression hasn’t been good since before.”

“very.”

I replied indifferently and then looked ahead again. I didn’t want to mix things up any more. I tapped the hilt of my sword nervously. If the holy sword had said something, the situation would have been very different. All I could feel was the clue that the first stage had been opened, but I couldn’t feel anything else.

“… It’s okay.”

That was also what I was saying to myself. you are not real

“contradiction.”

I tried to recite the words quietly so as not to be heard. A promise to myself to protect people. They could sacrifice me for that belief, but these guys.

“It’s coming.”

Marianne said in a nervous voice. I drew the holy sword and stood on the bow. Islands the size of small houses appeared between the rough terrain carved by glaciers. The ship we boarded slowly slowed down, and I opened my eyes sharply at the imminent signs of disaster.

“It looks like they’re trying to send the monster first and come in. It’s a very reasonable choice.”

Georg, pretending to be normal, came to my side. I wish I could have said it without opening my eyes. I smiled and turned my head in the direction Georg was looking.

“… It’s been a long time since I’ve seen such a sight again.”

I muttered that.

monster.

It was pouring in in numbers, literally enough to fill the sea. I heard the voice of the captain screaming in panic to stop the ship. Daphne immediately raised her magic power and prepared to respond. The ship stopped hastily, and the gunners who fired the cannon whimpered from the tilting ship, dragging shells and running.

“Load the gun!!”

At the gunner’s cry, the gunners threw cannonballs. The stopped boat following ours also began to reload their guns.

“No need to aim! Just shoot as soon as you load it! Don’t wait for my signal! Shoot with the thought of stopping the swarming monsters!! The wizards will do the rest!”

Kiyin.

Magic power rose. A stream of magical energy flowed from Daphne’s body. The wizard of the 6th circle I know. It was Daphne’s magical power.

“I will use massive magic! Prepare for shock, everyone!”

From Circle 6 onwards, the scale of magic itself changed, and Daphne was clearly showing it now. A huge presence that can be felt simply by the operation of magical power. The magic that was being completed was aiming at the large army of monsters that were coming.

“Who are you opening your filthy mouth towards now?”

It felt cold. The next magic to be implemented is,

“I will make you realize.”

Hundreds of ice spears pouring down from the sky. The magical power of the Archmage, who would not stay in the 6th circle, further strengthened the power of large-scale magic.

Kwagwagwagwang-!!!

The roar of the pouring spears overshadowed the sound of cannonballs being fired. The waves pouring in along with the demons turned into bubbles of blood and were stained bright red.

“… Also great.”

Georg admired a little. Following Daphne, the bombardment unit, which only gathered magicians from 4th circle or higher, began magical bombardment. The monsters rushing in with the momentum to eat up the fleet and everything were unable to advance and were slaughtered on the spot.

“… you can do it.”

“Is this enough?”

On the deck, people’s expressions were dyed in color. But I knew Disasters always appear when people are most relieved, turning hope into despair. I widened my senses. My senses were disturbed by the release and circulation of magical power.

“-come!!”

Maybe you didn’t understand what I was saying right away? I looked at the party members who stumbled on the ship that suddenly lifted into the air. Daphne’s arm was held by Georg, and Marianne staggered with a bewildered expression, holding the spear with one hand.

Make sure to read from noble mtl . com

Like a slow-playing video, the process of destroying a warship came into my eyes. The keel splits in half, a crackling sound is heard, and the ship breaks in half. The hardwood deck was torn in half like a piece of paper.

“-Kuk!”

I flew the new model to Marianne. Fortunately, she managed to keep her balance on the tilted deck. And, the Kraken’s tentacles rose from below. I opened the first stage of the Holy Sword and drew my sword towards the tentacles that sprouted.

Slow-!

The tentacles were easily cut off with an eerie sound. After confirming that Marianne had regained her composure and was sticking to my side, I began to release the condensed mana.

Okay, I’ll think about defeating you first.

I looked at the kraken’s torso rising as it collapsed an island.

“Can you follow me?”

Marianne nodded, and I ran out, starting to hack at the Kraken’s body. Tentacles are cut off. When the Kraken roared and tried to shake me off, the prepared magic flew again and hit the Kraken.

cut it

Cut it, and move on to the next one. And, knock down the fog.

The sound of something breaking continued to be heard. I ignored him and focused all my attention on defeating the Kraken. When the tentacle flew out, he cut it off with a sword. When the monster jumped at me, I shook it off. When I heard the voice of the damn fog in my ears, I just closed my eyes and swung my sword.

bear. until you hear nothing. until nothing is visible.

“Warrior… .”

And at some point I opened my eyes. I was covered in blood. Is the Kraken still alive?

No sound was heard. The third plague had already become a huge island and was dead blocking the sea route. And, I was standing on top of the monster’s head. I don’t even remember when or how I defeated it. To think he was able to win by unlocking only one level of the holy sword.

I turned my head. The fleet carrying the wizard had long since disappeared without a trace. There were no ships left intact. I started to walk down from the kraken’s corpse with a small smile. There is nothing left. nothing.

“Hero.”

Then, I heard a voice calling me. I lowered my trembling head and faced Marianne, who had her right leg cut off and was looking at me with a pale expression.

What are you protecting? Well, first of all, a few people who have never seen their faces are safe.

A mocking sound echoed in my head. I staggered towards Marianne. It wasn’t just the leg that was cut off. Marianne’s left waist had been slit in a terrible shape, as if something had eaten it off.

“Hero.”

I supported Marianne. The vitality in his golden eyes was already fading.

Are you saying it’s fake?

yes. It’s fake. This. Not the real Marianne.

But why are you trembling so much?

I shook my head. not. Now that we’ve defeated the Kraken, we’ll be back in good shape. In the next illusion that the fog will show, we will meet again.

I’ll do whatever you want.

The landscape began to change. Marianne in my hand disappears. The corpse of the Kraken and the wreckage of the wrecked warship were also gone.

You still mistake this for an ordeal you must pass through, champion.

Disaster wishes despair. Since they entered this place, they could not get out by ordinary means. Until I let go of everything, trapped in despair.

Even so, I wonder if you will continue to talk nonsense about defeating disaster and saving people.

The cruel words of the fog fell.

“Hey, Illroy. You are late.”

I was standing in the tent of the conference hall again.

“Illroy! I was waiting for you.”

“Hero, are you here?”

And seeing the faces of my colleagues talking to me again, I let out a small breath.

  1. Extra says:

Seems to be a test of principles, beliefs. Mist
is really trying hard to break Illroy here.

Sure Illroy is idealistic, but being idealistic is not a bad thing. You can still be idealistic whilst being aware of the harsh realities of the world.

Undeniably though, it’s a much harder way to live your life compared to being an harsh realist (like Arjen). Illroy chooses (or will choose) to continue to push forward with his principles and beliefs despite knowing that.

  2. huehue huehue says:

Illroy is naive. This is an illusion, yes, but this can also happen in the next disasters he has to face. I hope he realizes this soon 🧐

  3. huehue huehue says:

Yes, you can’t expect to save everyone if you can’t even save the ones in your circle. Man, Illroy’s getting mindfúcked here 🧐

  4. huehue huehue says:

Contradiction. Maybe hypocrisy, too. He’s idealistic because he hasn’t experienced what Arjen nor OG!Illroy experienced 🤔
