His biggest mistake is that he’s too focused on not being cliche that he didn’t take account on the kind of fanbase he attracted with his story. If he had attracted those kinds of crowd that like this kind of thing, it would’ve been received better. Personally, I would have the same reaction as them, rather I wouldn’t even reach the scene where they got defeated. I would’ve stop at the affair reveal scene and stop reading the novel entirely.
