Abandoned by my Childhood Friend, I Became a War Hero chapter 41

41 - Horror #3

41 – Chestnut #3

Full body armor with black flames.

A spear as red as blood and as long as thorns.

“Really… It was really brutal….”

Daisy realized that the ion standing in front of her eyes was the real scar.

From noble mtl dot com

She was ready to do anything for revenge. She was consumed with hatred and sorrow, and she could find no other way, and she saw no reason to stop.

But if she had to avenge her by killing the beast, Daisy didn’t have the confidence to do it without hesitation.

Her memory of the moment the Ionian kingdom fell is still vivid.

The kingdom’s army was completely destroyed by the endless offensive of the undead army, and the capital, Caria, was quickly occupied.

Even if they abandoned the city and ran away from the undead’s attack, there was no way to get past the undead, who were tirelessly advancing endlessly.

When everyone yearns for death in their hearts, and falls into despair that even death will not be a comfortable haven.

A single hero single-handedly defeated the Immortal King.

No one actually witnessed the Immortal King fall. Because of the overwhelming number of undead troops, no one could get close to the Immortal King.

However, the image of the hero advancing through the undead army, brandishing a red spear like a demon, spread like rumors among countless soldiers.

And a few days later.

The Command Corps’ offensive against humanity has come to an abrupt end.

As if they had lost their commander, they lost their target and turned into a wild undead horde that wandered aimlessly around.

If there was no scar, most of the kingdom’s people would have lost their lives without even having time to evacuate, and the command corps that occupied the kingdom would have attacked the empire as their next target.

It was as if all the survivors of the Ionian Kingdom, including Daisy, owed their lives to the evil spirit.

And now, the malevolence that saved her life stood before her eyes to prevent his revenge.

What kind of trick of fate is this?

Daisy’s will to fight slowly faded.

She never thought that even though she was fighting to death just a moment ago, she would encounter her malevolence here. Not to mention, I wasn’t prepared for the current situation where I had to kill him.

-Geuh uh uh… !

However, Dreadlord was different.

The Dreadlord was furious that the summoner was unwilling to fight any longer.

A king who reigns supreme in the Dark World. He responded to the summons with a willing mind that there was a human who called him after a long time.

However, even though he personally descended to the human world, it would be against the dignity of the king to return without doing anything.

Thus, the dreadlord ignored the summoner’s will and began to act on its own.

“Ah, ah ah ah ah-!!”

Daisy let out her scream and vomited her blood. It was because the Dreadlord forcibly maintained the bond of soul between the summoner and the summoned entity and expanded the passage.

Ionian lineage originally helped humans to connect with higher beings that humans could not contact, but were powerless to forcibly obey those who were already connected.

She succeeded in summoning the dreadlord, but it was far from enough to make her obey, and she was no longer able to send the dreadlord back on her own.

With Daisy’s long scream, the hole in the sky tore even louder. Before long, the dreadlord, who had only been sticking out her skeletal face, reached out a huge bony hand.

It seemed only a matter of time before the whole body would come out of the hole if it continued like this.

At that moment, a black shadow flew towards the Dreadlord.

Ion kicked off the ground and in an instant slashed through the air and charged toward the face of the Dreadlord’s gigantic skull. A dark red trail stretched behind Ion’s back as he flew away like a darting arrow with his Ezetus held high.

-Geuh uh uh….

Dreadlord recognized the ions flying towards him and his red eyes flashed. Then, a thunderclap rang through the dry sky, and black lightning strikes struck Ion from the sky.

Gurlureung!!

Dreadlord had no doubt that with the current blow, the arrogant man who tried to fight against him would be turned into a lump of charcoal.

However, when Ion twisted his waist in the air and swung Ezetus over his head, the lightning split in half just before reaching Ion and scattered in vain.

Ezetus can cut through insubstantial things. Of course, he could also cut magic.

Dreadlord was shocked, but Ion’s movement did not stop there.

He used the centrifugal force generated by swinging his spear to rotate his body greatly. When the speed of rotation reached its peak, he carried that rotational force all over his body, and the moment it touched the dreadlord, he stretched out his spear wide.

Zeuong!

The spear hit between the skull’s forehead and the Dreadlord staggered his whole body. His skull head, which had been half ejected from the blow, shoved back into the hole.

It was an unbelievable feat to push a skeleton giant that could overwhelm a fair amount of castles with only human power, but Ion’s planting was dissatisfied.

“It’s solid.”

I was going to pierce the middle of the forehead with one blow, but I endured it. Well, considering that even humans have the hardest skull, that part might be particularly strong.

But it doesn’t matter.

If once isn’t enough, just hit it until it breaks.

-Goo oh oh… !

“Do you know how to say that?”

Dreadlord let out a roar of rage and stretched out his skeletal hand. Magic didn’t work, so I thought I’d rather crush the cheeky human with physical force.

In the overwhelming sight, as if a wall made of bones were pushing in, Ion rather put his feet forward.

Ion took a deep breath and put strength into his arms holding the spear.

In a short breath, as many as 72 consecutive strikes were swung, and the dreadlord’s huge arm bones were shattered.

However, as soon as the dreadlord’s arm was broken, the shattered arm bone fragments gathered themselves in the air and quickly reassembled.

Dreadlord struck Ion with his perfectly restored arm as if laughing. Due to the Skeleton Giant’s punches, the surrounding land completely collapsed, and the warehouse building with only the skeleton completely evaporated.

Dreadlord thought Ion would have been flattened like a trampled insect.

However, Ion blocked Dreadlord’s fist with a spear and stood firm.

Despite the situation where the ground cracked and the ground collapsed as if an earthquake had occurred, Ion’s arm held its weight intact and did not budge like a solid rock.

It wasn’t just that. As Ion pushed the spear forward, the dreadlord’s arm began to rise slightly.

Dreadlord’s red eyes swayed like a candle in the wind at a situation where, surprisingly, humans had the upper hand in a power struggle between humans and giants.

-Goooooh… !

“Suck!”

As Ion pushed the spear with all his might, Dreadlord’s arm bounced upward.

Dreadlord has lived as a ruler of the dark realm with overwhelming magical power and physical strength, but he has not had much actual combat experience.

So, he was horrified at the fact that he was pushed out by humans and did not properly judge the situation, and Ion did not miss the opportunity.

Ion attacked, slashing, stabbing, and swinging his spear madly, as if he had razed the legion of evil spirits.

The dreadlord’s arm, which was split into 72 pieces, was split into smaller pieces before being reassembled, and those pieces were also split once more by Ion’s spear blade. Dreadlord’s arm, which was within reach of Ion’s spear, was eventually reduced to nothing but powder.

However, as long as the main body was not treated, no matter how much the arm was split, it would only be assembled again. Ion knew that, so he jumped off the ground and leaped into the air before his arm fully recovered.

Ion and Dreadlord looked at each other from the same height.

Ion grabbed Ezetus’s spearhead and pulled his arm back as if he were going to throw it at any moment. At that moment, a voice rang in Ion’s head.

[Stop! Stop!]

It was the first time he had heard that voice, but Ion quickly realized that the skeleton gourd in front of him was talking to him.

“You could speak human language.”

[I can’t speak human words. However, it is possible to exchange thoughts that are not words. You are a rare strong human being. I will go back to the world I was in. So don’t touch me anymore.]

“It must have been you who started the fight first.”

[Human, think carefully. My summoner wants your life, so it’s only natural that you, as one who answered the summons, want to fulfill the contract. However, realizing that this is impossible, I will now step aside.]

Ion made a cold sneer inside his helmet.

Where is this made?

“I refuse.”

It was okay when I came in, but not when I left.

Ion’s whole body was burning with black magic power like a flame.

The Dreadlord stretched out his arm, feeling a sense of danger from the mighty magic that spewed out while pumping his heart, but the powdered bones still did not recover.

[No… No!!]

Ion twisted his waist in the air, stretched out his arm, and threw his spear.

Boom!!

I just threw a spear, but the explosion sounded like air bursting all over the place.

Leaving Ion’s hand, Ezetus drew a straight red trajectory and flew towards the Dreadlord’s forehead, splitting his skull and tearing his soul along with the core inside.

-Gooooo!!

The Dreadlord whose forehead was pierced gave his final breath. Through the cracks in the otherworld, I could see his bony body collapsing.

If Ion had completely escaped from the Dark World, Ion was a being with such a strong character that he would not be able to defeat it so easily. However, his face and one arm alone were not enough to fight his chest.

The fragments of the Dreadlord’s skull soon shattered into dust, and at the same time, the summoned object disappeared and the door leading to the Dark Territory began to close.

Just before the door closed completely, Ezetus flew by itself and landed in Ion’s hand.

When the dreadlord disappeared, Daisy, who was forcibly holding the passageway, fell to the ground exhausted.

As Ion fell down, he grabbed Daisy in the air and landed softly on the ground.

Daisy slowly opened her eyes in Ion’s arms.

“Are you okay?”

Instead of answering, she coughed up blood.

Her blackened dead blood stained Ion’s helmet, but Ion didn’t care at all, but instead held her arms tighter to hold her daisy steady.

“… I don’t think it’s okay.”

Muttering weakly, her eyes were dull and dull. The Dreadlord’s overuse of Daisy’s powers damaged her optic nerve, causing her to lose her sight.

From noble mtl dot com

But Daisy’s problem wasn’t just her eyesight. In the process of summoning the Dreadlord, she had already consumed a lot of life, and when she forcibly opened her passage, her magic and life force were also taken away.

One of her misfortunes was that because Ion had completely annihilated the dreadlord, her mortgaged soul returned to her again.

Daisy’s heartbeat was very weak, as if it would die at any moment. Ion, who held her in her arms, knew that better than Daisy herself.

Ion and Daisy realized that this was the last moment.

In a situation where we didn’t know what to say, we couldn’t say anything to each other.

It was Daisy’s slow, soft words that broke the silence.

“I… Have I been punished?”

Daisy’s voice before her death seemed somewhat relieved.

“Actually, I knew… That a massacre cannot justify another massacre. But she can’t figure out what else to do but get revenge, and she can’t find a reason to stop….”

Daisy smiled hard.

“So… It’s good that the person who stopped it even now appears….”

“… ….”

Daisy turned her head and narrowed her eyes so she could see Ion’s face. But her eyes, already dark and hazy, saw nothing.

Eventually Daisy realized she couldn’t see Ion, and put her trembling hand on his cheek. She then and slowly she swept his face.

“That black flame… Is it dark magic?”

“… Okay.”

“I don’t know why you use demon powers… There must be a reason… They say that the chest is actually a converted demon… I didn’t believe that rumor, but… I can see why that was said… “

Daisy looked at Ion with her sad eyes.

“To be able to save so many people, yet to be abandoned by the goddess… Pitiful… Poor man….”

Daisy’s hand fell slowly under her, as her strength gave way and she could no longer lift her hand.

Her Ion grabbed her hand tightly.

Daisy smiled faintly.

“The person you missed… They said you look a lot like me.”

“Yes.”

“Maybe… A blonde like me… With blue eyes… Was she a girl of about fifteen?”

At those words, Ion drew her breath in briefly. She was exactly the way Ella looked when she left town.

“Maybe… Could it be that child… I don’t know.”

“That child?”

“The Immortal King… at first… He was an Ionian royal wizard… He told his father… The magic of eternal life exists… They say they need Ionian lineage… Incited his father….”

Daisy breathed heavily.

“But… There’s no point in sacrificing yourself… It must have been difficult to sacrifice her daughter… His father gave his illegitimate son… I unwrapped the article and brought it… The child… I don’t know the name… Me really… They looked a lot alike….”

Daisy’s breathing was getting weaker. Her heart rate slowed and her body temperature cooled.

She didn’t have much time left for her.

Ion asked, looking down at her daisy.

“Any last words you want to say?”

“Ah….”

Daisy’s shoulders trembled slightly as she felt the end. She faced her death shivering like a person shivering from the cold.

Ion gave her a firm hug and made sure she didn’t tremble any more. Just like she did with Ella.

Soon Daisy’s tremors disappeared. She said in a low voice.

“The scar…… When we meet… Always… thank you…… Next… please… more delicious… Alcohol… ….”

Ion nodded her head.

“You must go for a drink.”

Daisy closed her eyes and slowly shook her head.

A soft smile remained on her lips.

Even if the venganze is bad
I dont have a problem if she want venganze
The problem is that you are focusing in innocent people
If you want venganze go againts those who make you suffer
Not innocent people without any fault

They only became extremists because no one stood up for them in the first place, if at least someone in power had pounded the table and pointed that the elves needed to pay some form of reparation and help the Ionian after their crown prince massacred millions of people this wouldn’t have gotten so bad.
They should have at least got the elves to help cleanse their lands of undead infestations and help rebuild their homes, instead of leaving their royalty to live in the slums and not mentioning a word of what really happened, probably all to maintain “Harmony”.
Same for their veterans, don’t want them to become extremists? Don’t let them fall into destitutions after they come back from the war, especially after said war created an economic boom.
More often than not, extremism is the refuge of the desperate.
Instead all they do is shoot “harmony!”, shouting their righteousness to the sky as they kill and suppress everyone who oppose them like right now, that’s why I call it a future built on the corpse of the miserables.
The entire situation is honestly rather disgusting.
I honestly don’t feel much empathy for the MC in this situation, and if this any hint of how the entire novel is gonna go this probably won’t be for me.

    @Arlos
You cant really solve this with a talk and tea time now, can you? Faced with extrimists who had dedicated themselves on performing acts of vengeance towards individuals who has little to no involvement to the tragedy that they had experienced, no happy ending can be made. This will become a cycle that cannot be quenched unless they learn to let go.

That said, I sympathize with her. Losing everything you have and watching the faction who birthed the Lich who destroyed your everything, while they just watched from the sidelines of the war against the demon king unaffected by everything would irk me.

  4. @shelwyn Ella wasn’t pregnant. Daisy’s father required a sacrifice. He didn’t want to give up on his own daughter and Ella was his illegimate daughter so she fit the requirement. So Daisy and Ella were sisters from different mothers. And Ella was also an Ionian princess

Is what I understood from mtl

  5. Arlos says:

Man, I just fell kinda annoyed by how this was handled, is that how they are planning to build a « Harmonious » future? Just kill everyone with a grudge? A future built on the corpses of miserables people who lost everything?
    What a cruel future.

  6. Oh wait. Since Ella was an illegimate noble daughter then… Her mother was also a maid. That explains a little

  7. I wanted to meet Daisy again. BUT NOT LIKE THIS

  8. Boobzlover says:

So Ella never actually leave him
    Bro this is sad
