Abandoned by my Childhood Friend, I Became a War Hero chapter 70

70 - Lecture

70 – Lecture

Time flies in an instant, it’s Friday before the weekend.

Dr. Brown, who is called the father of magical engineering for inventing all sorts of groundbreaking and convenient things, and is even praised as an unsalted genius, is now the most talked about person in the Empire.

His lectures at Fillion Academy naturally attracted the attention and attention of all academy students.

Marian was one of those students.

To be honest, Marianne was the father of engineering, the beginning of a technological revolution, so I wasn’t interested in these words at all.

However, as I often use trams or radios, I was a bit curious about what kind of person the person who created such a thing might be.

After last night’s conversation with Instructor Ion, that thought became stronger.

Anyway, for that reason, when she arrived at the lecture hall after school after all classes were over, Marianne was startled without knowing it.

‘Ugh, what kind of person….’

The large lecture hall, which can accommodate up to 500 people, was already packed with students. Not only students, but also other faculty members such as instructors were seen.

This lecture meant that many people were curious about what kind of person Dr. Brown was.

The moment I stopped at the entrance, unable to even dare to enter the classroom through the crowd, a familiar cloak caught my eye by chance.

A black cloak that catches the eye among other mantles of various colors such as white, red, and blue.

Marian recognized her classmate and shouted loudly.

“Gwynn! Schurtz!”

“What? Marian?”

Recognizing her Marianne, her two men approached her.

Schurz said with a surprised expression that she didn’t expect to meet Marian here.

“I never expected to meet you in a place like this. Are you also here to hear Dr. Brown’s lecture?”

“I was curious about the person who made the airship. Everywhere I go, everyone talks about this lecture, so I came here once because I was interested.”

“So are we. In particular, Gwynne said she really wanted to come.”

“Really?”

Gwynn said with an awkward smile.

“Yes… lol. Trams and radios were really amazing, but making a flying boat is amazing. I was curious about how great his invention was.”

Come to think of it, when I first heard the airship news, I was very surprised. Marian nodded her head in agreement.

“Nice to meet you, but as you can see, I don’t know if there will be a seat given the situation here.”

“If that’s the case, you don’t have to worry. I already have three seats reserved.”

Already secured? Even just three seats?

Marian looked at Schurz with her questioning expression, and he shrugged her shoulders.

“The administrative office is the one that provides support for the doctor, and I am the son of the head of the administrative office. I only asked for three seats. Originally, I was going to take Batar and Saladin and get to know each other a bit… Neither of them are interested.”

“Ah….”

Even though Saladin seems to be a bit rounder these days, his hostility toward the Empire hasn’t completely disappeared, so he probably didn’t want to listen to an Imperial engineer’s lecture.

Bathar, on the other hand, is independent in a different sense from Saladin, so he probably didn’t intend to come because he literally wasn’t really interested.

“It’s something to do with the son of the administrative agency as a friend. Then I’ll take care of you despite your shame.”

At Marian’s words, Schurz’s expression went blank.

“Huh? Friend… ?”

“Why? Aren’t you friends?”

Schurz scratched the bottom of his chin and spoke awkwardly.

“No. I never thought I would hear such words from a lofty socialite… After living, I thought that there are all sorts of strange things.”

Marian crossed her arms and let out a hollow laugh.

“This is new. Isn’t it strange that she goes to class in the same class, eats and sleeps in the same dormitory, and she isn’t friends?”

“Ummm, I don’t.”

While listening to her conversation, Gwynn tilted her head curiously.

“The flower of a socialite?”

“It’s a nickname that’s nothing special. Anyway, with so many people, I couldn’t get into the lecture room at all….”

“Ah, leave that to me!”

“Huh? Eh-!?”

Gwynn smiled trustingly, took Marianne and Schurtz by the wrists, and took a determined step toward the crowd.

At her stride, the lecture hall was filled with people splitting on both sides in front of Gwynn, and the path slowly opened.

“Oops!”

“Hey, don’t push!”

“Sorry! I will pass!”

There was a clamor from all sides, but Gwynn pretended to hear indifferently and moved her steps cautiously.

People were pushed helplessly in front of Gwynn’s rock-hard steps, but surprisingly, no one fell or lost balance.

Marian asked, bewildered.

“What? How do you do that?”

“Huh? Ah, balance! While sparring with Instructor Ion, I learned how to see not only my own balance, but also the opponent’s balance!”

“Uh….”

How do you do that?

And how did Instructor Ion teach you that?

Marianne realized that the pretty cross-dressing girl in front of her was a real exhaust genius. After all, she is called the descendant of the swordsman, and she must be guided by the swordsman every day.

“Gwynn! Not that one!”

“What? I was confused.”

If there was a problem, she had to fix it several times because Gwynn kept trying to get away from her side because she was in a serious direction.

Anyway, thanks to Gwynn, the two easily got through the crowd and arrived at the front row.

It was a place where President Heinkel and other high-ranking faculty members of the academy were gathered, and exactly as Schurz said, three seats were empty.

Marianne politely greeted Chancellor Heinkel and the staff she knew. It was the same with Schurz and Gwynn.

“Hello, President Heinkel.”

Receiving the greetings from the students, President Heinkel smiled while sweeping his beard.

“Hmm? Opal Black class students. Nice to meet you.”

“Were you interested in the lecture, too?”

“Yes. Opportunities like this are rare, and I think today’s lecture will be particularly interesting.”

‘It’s interesting… ?’

Marianne could see through the twinkling eyes of President Heinkel that her vague anticipation and joy were dimmed.

In addition to the president, she greeted many acquaintances she met in the social world, and after lightly chatting with a few people, she was finally able to sit down.

Marian felt a sudden surge of fatigue.

“Ha, I’m tired already….”

“Good job.”

Shurtz, who passed by appropriately handling the greetings and regards of many people similar to Marian, said with a smile.

Although Gwynn is a disciple of her Sword Saint, not many people knew her, so she didn’t suffer much, so she had already sat down a little while ago.

She was looking at the two people casually exchanging hellos with countless people with a slightly curious expression.

“Awesome. Both of them are celebrities.”

Because there were so many people around, Marian lowered her voice slightly.

“Well, rather than great… Being famous isn’t as good as you think. There are a lot of people who recognize me everywhere I go, so it’s quite difficult at times like this.”

If you think about it, it’s so hard to be recognized to some extent in the social world like Marian, but I couldn’t imagine how popular the 7 continent heroes would be.

Is that why Instructor Ion covers her face with his armor?

Because of that person’s personality, he won’t enjoy fame or fame, so I understood that to some extent.

Suddenly, Schurz opened his mouth.

“I suddenly thought of you when you said you were famous, did you hear that a warriors party is coming to Jedo?”

“A warrior party?”

When Gwynn asked in a curious voice, Schurz, who was very interested in this topic, raised his glasses and answered.

“Yes, the warrior party. They said they were going to have a parade together to commemorate the 5th anniversary of the end of the war. She is a saintess who has never returned from her purification work on the Ma continent, but this time she is back, and rumors are already spreading among the Church and Goddess cultists.”

“Hmm, I know about the dragon and the saint. Is the hero party different from the 7 continent heroes?”

“… You don’t know about the warrior party? Do I have to explain from there… Ugh, that’s right-“

Marian, who was listening to the conversation between the two, suddenly thought.

The warrior party.

A party of five formed to defeat the Demon King, centered on the ‘Hero of Light’ Wilhelm von Galatea.

‘Saint of the battlefield’ Charlotte Orcia.

‘Iron-Blooded Knight’ Frida von Sternrict.

Greta von Runhardt, ‘The Gray Witch’.

‘Shadow Blade’ Sylvia Rosenfeld.

Of these, the ‘Iron-Blooded Knight’ and the ‘Ashen Witch’ belong to the Royal Guard and the Court Magicians, respectively, so except for the ‘Shadow Blade’, which was treated as dead due to a mysterious disappearance during the war, they have not actually appeared in the system for a long time. It was only the saintess who had been on the Demon Continent all along.

Questions about their strength and actual performance have been raised in the public eye, and as the granddaughter of the commander-in-chief of the Imperial Army, Marian knew some of these rumors to be true.

However, such a story was not something that could be talked about in such a public place.

So, while Schurtz eagerly explained to Gwynn about the warrior party, Marian passed her time quietly, passing her conversation moderately.

Finally, Dr. Brown, the center of the topic, appeared on the podium.

    Ella’s fate is extremely sad.

  3. Why does chapters end here… I am so curious… The saint and warrior party’s reunion with Ion…

Btw it seems like the saint had to be used as some sort of dark magic dispeller station at the demon kingdom? Is that why she left Ion? And if Charlotte is alive maybe there’s a chance for Ella too…

Hoping to beat the warrior this time
