Today is a lecture on ‘Critical Strike Accumulation’, a technique that must be learned in order to do a legend route speedrun. I’ve attached a video below, so newbies who don’t understand the text can check it out.
Going straight to the point, what is ‘critical strike stacking’? I will explain from this.
Simply put, crit stacking is a technique that allows you to land critical hits at the moment you want. The best use of this technique is, of course, boss fights. In particular, some bosses (EX: Angra Mainyu) are very vulnerable to this critical hit, so if you learn this one well, even a beginner can cut the boss.
Then, why is this technique called Critical Strike? To explain this, I need to explain a little bit about the legend root crit system.
The probability system of Legend Route is basically a ‘pseudo-random distribution’ system. I will give an example to illustrate the word quasi-random distribution.
Let’s say you hit 10% critical hits. However, there is a very, very, very, very, very low chance that you will be able to get 10 consecutive critical hits. If this happens, the boss will be cut very quickly.
Conversely, let’s assume that you’re so f*cking bad that you don’t get 30 critical hits in a row. If that’s the case, your run is already ruined.
In the case of a completely random probability distribution, the above can happen with a low probability because each trial is independent. However, it is quite unpleasant for gamers to experience the following. So, the critical hit probability applied in the legend route is actually a ‘manipulated’ probability.
Then how do you manipulate critical hits? Let’s say you hit 10% critical hits. Your first critical hit chance is slightly less than 10%.
But there was no fatal blow here? Then the odds increase slightly. So, finally, if you don’t get a critical hit 9 times in a row, the 10th attack has a 100% critical hit chance. If a critical hit occurs in the middle, the probability is reset again.
Do you know what a quasi-random distribution roughly means? Now, what we should pay attention to here is that if you land a normal hit over a certain number of times, the next attack will always be a critical hit.
You can see why this technique is called “Stacking” Critical hits, right? In fact, to be more precise, it should be called ‘pyeongtae building’. It’s because it accumulates normal hits over a certain number of times to make the next attack a guaranteed critical hit. In other words, stacking critical hits is a technique that allows players to deliver critical strikes at the intended timing.
The reason this is important for some bosses is because of the timing of their critical deals.
The critical deal timing is the moment when the damage received by the boss is amplified, and about five bosses, including the final boss Angra Mainyu, have this critical deal timing. And since all of these timings are on the verge of instant death, you have to put in a deal at this timing to break the sea otter boss with Nodes.

Critical hit stacking is a technique that makes the next attack a guaranteed critical hit by overlapping ‘normal hit’ attacks.
In some bosses (especially Angra Mainyu), this critical hit is very important.
