After I Stopped Sponsoring, the Female Leads Began Obsessing Over Me chapter 138

138 - Everyone is happy except me

138 – Everyone is happy except me

After the notice is over.

I quickly climbed onto the deck.

Blue sky.

The bright blue sea.

I also wanted to enjoy this scenery a little more.

As I was enjoying the breeze on the deck, cadets from other classes began to come out one by one.

‘Everyone’s mood has become more serious.’

Now is a good opportunity to understand the ecology of cadets and competitors for survival.

“Hey, Ian…! Did you save the team?! If not, why don’t you join me!”

For example, these friends I only saw in passing.

There were many cadets like this guy who ran all over the place with a look of urgency on their faces to save the party.

Is that about half of all cadets?

Now, if we try to find party members, the only ones on this ship are knights and wizard students.

This means that it will be difficult to find a good combination.

“I’m sorry. I already saved a teammate.”

“Ah, ah, yes, how could you…!”

The guy walked away with an expression of extreme shock.

Okay. You.

If you meet below, the death penalty is confirmed.

… I looked around the deck, thinking the same nonsense.

About a quarter of the children talk leisurely, as if they quickly formed a team.

These guys will be your main competitors, so you should keep them in mind.

There is one guy in particular who keeps making eye contact with me.

Huge stature. Muscles and size that look ferocious and vicious.

Jan Victor, a giant belonging to the Department of Knights.

He’s a memorable villain because he’s a mixed-blood Barbarian…

‘I’m anxious, is that guy?’

Why do you keep making eye contact with me?

Let’s put it on the border list for now.

Some children just stood there blankly, as if they had given up.

This group looks more dangerous than a competitor.

Children who have nothing to lose are inherently scary.

One of them in particular caught my eye.

The end of the railing.

A girl with fluttering blue hair that is indistinguishable from the sea.

“Wow. Miss Sharon’s mood is no joke.”

It is literally what someone muttered.

She stands alone, blankly looking down at the sea beneath the sky.

‘Aren’t you going to jump like that?’

Because the atmosphere was quite depressing, enough to make me think this way.

“I wonder what happened with my brother.”

“I heard nothing happened.”

I scolded Elena, who was working hard to spread rumors next to me.

No, wait a minute.

“…?”

Why is this guy here?

“Didn’t the priestly department take a different boat? Why are you here?

“We came this way because our boat was full! We’ve been looking for Brother Ian, but we’ve finally found him.”

That happened.

“I have no friends, Danya is very scared, and I have a fear of heights. Brother Ian is my only hope! I’m scared, so let’s go inside!”

“It’s a good thing. I’ll take this opportunity to discuss a more detailed strategy…”

“Tongue, brother.”

“Huh?”

Elena pointed her finger at Sharon.

She had a few of her cadets approaching her.

Sharon looked down at the sea.

Down there.

There is a sea that rumbles as if it is exhaling a big breath.

If it were that wide ocean, wouldn’t even I be able to accept myself like this?

I wanted to jump into those arms right now.

“……”

Sharon cupped her face.

She remembered the opportunities she had passed away.

Clearly, Ian’s arms were that wide too.

The person who turned that into an infinitely hard and cold iron wall was none other than Sharon herself.

“Ah…”

A life lived in pursuit of only one creed.

That creed is wrong.

And she realized what was right.

Therefore, we must move toward that rightness.

My mistakes, my arrogance, my atrocities.

We must reflect.

“Ah…”

But I can’t move on.

You are blocked by a huge wall and end up walking in the same place over and over again.

A deep lament flowed out.

It would be better for you to insult me.

I wish you would repay me, one by one, for everything I did to you. I wish people would trample and hit me because they don’t even want to look at me.

If there had been that kind of interest, it wouldn’t have been this painful.

While I was in despair, I heard a voice.

“Hey Sharon?”

I was suddenly looking forward to it.

It’s not Ian’s.

If you think about it, it couldn’t have been that way.

“……”

“Gwae, if it’s okay, would you like to have a party with us? You get half the coins of our party.”

“No need.”

He answered as coldly as ever.

And then he just stopped.

‘… I was the problem.’

I don’t care about other people’s feelings.

I have lived only for my own good taste.

Even when Ian took care of me, I wish I had taken his feelings into consideration at all.

I really regretted everything.

Because I am the one who threw away everything that Ian gave me.

So.

We need to change it now.

You have to practice.

We must change for the next opportunity that may come.

“… I’m sorry.”

An apology flowed from Sharon’s mouth.

Her group of people who approached her were startled.

That bold and arrogant Sharon puts her apple in her mouth?

“Oh, no…! It’s okay! I’ll find someone else. Then!”

Even as they moved away from Sharon, the group’s astonishment continued.

“Bah, Sharon just apologized, right?”

“I really can’t believe it. Sharon, who was as cold as ice, apologized like that. It was like melted ice!”

“That’s right. It’s become a little less cheesy. Did something happen?”

The group looked at each other and trembled quietly.

“If Miss Sharon had changed, how great would it have been…?”

Meanwhile.

Their behind-the-scenes chatter did not reach Sharon’s ears.

I heard it but ignored it.

Ian.

If you can find a pinhole in that huge steel wall, you can endure any disturbance and insults within the academy.

“Maybe it’s fortunate.”

Despite being criticized like this, the Academy was the only framework that bound Ian and Sharon together.

In any case, didn’t we end up participating in the same activity called the promotion battle?

An island begins to appear in the distance.

It looked more like a small continent than an island.

‘They said there were huge things moving around inside.’

Recall the professor’s explanation.

There will definitely be enemies that are difficult for the cadets to handle.

Then… It was an opportunity.

An opportunity to provide some help to Ian.

Sharon looked down at her own physical strength.

As a result of not attending class without permission, his physical strength is only 1/4 of that of other children.

Nevertheless, Sharon clenched her fists.

“……”

The last remaining practical activity of this semester.

There will never be another opportunity in the future to serve his needs as much as this promotion match.

“I will help even if it means sacrificing my life.”

Looking at the island, Sharon made a promise in a firm voice.

“Everyone gather around.”

Small warehouse below deck.

Following my instructions, the party members squatted down in a huddle.

“I’m sure you all heard earlier that the starting location is determined randomly.”

“That’s right! How do we get together?”

Danya shouted as if she was already curious.

Why am I so grateful for that question?

I feel like these days, Danya is playing the role of common sense at this party.

Right now, Lina is like, ‘Well, I’ll just do whatever you tell me!’ He’s smiling with that expression on his face. Elena said, ‘Uhehe.’ Getting bruised with her face. I see you drooling. Are you imagining eating something?

Anyway.

“Thank you for the good question, Danya.”

“Heng. Something like this.”

“Everyone, take a moment to look at this.”

I took out a map from my pocket.

This is a map of the island that I drew by hand.

“What is this?”

“It’s a map.”

“… A map? A map of Volta Island…?”

Danya tilts her head with a questioning expression.

‘… As expected.’

Honestly, I was worried a lot about whether I should show this to my colleagues.

‘I gave too much information about the future.’

Just like when I was raiding a dungeon recently, I slowly started to think about the information I was solving, ‘How on earth do you know this?’ I can feel the gaze.

For a while…

– Wow, that’s amazing Ian.

– How did you know this?!

– You are truly a great brother.

The guys who used to react like this are these days.

– Do you know this too?

– Ian… Are you an astrologer?

– Brother. When will the era of tomatoes come?

It was changing to this kind of reaction.

It seems like doubts are slowly growing about the source of the information.

Of course, as we are colleagues, we trust each other.

But that doesn’t mean “I’m a possessor!” This is something that cannot be shouted out.

The reason for showing the map after the professors’ presentations was partly to avoid suspicion.

When asked about the source, I was planning to just say I drew it after hearing a rough explanation.

Sure enough.

As I was looking at the map, Danya narrowed her eyes at me.

Yes. Whatever it is, ask.

I’m ready to answer.

Her mouth slowly opened.

“Is this… A map?”

Elena is helping from the side.

“That can’t be right! This looks exactly like the stained glass that hangs in large churches! It’s an abstract painting!”

Lina finished.

“Phew! Ian, you’re not good at drawing, are you?”

… These guys!

Then don’t look at it!

Danya hurriedly grabbed my hand as I was about to put the map away.

“I’m sorry. Me, the doodle. No, the map… Pu, Puheup! Take it out. I won’t make fun of you anymore.”

“Almighty Deus, please help me overcome this ordeal.”

“Okay, Ian! We’ll do our best. I just laughed and it’s not funny at all anymore. I’ll hold on… Ugh… Sigh!”

Ah.

Is this the first time I’ve felt humiliation in some time?

Yes. It’s been a while since I’ve been hit by a fastball like this, so I’ll hold back.

I took a pen and circled a point on the outside of the map.

“We will meet in the outskirts.”

“… To the outside? You’re not heading inward? Are you planning on giving up the base the professor mentioned earlier?”

Danya tilted her head.

“Yes. You’ve already prepared well. There’s no need to compete with other kids to find something to eat or sleep.”

The cadets are allowed one backpack.

We have been diligently preparing necessities such as food and capsule tents.

“We will secure the coins quickly. Gather on the outskirts and attack a monster right away.”

“Monster?”

“Yes. On the map that Violet unfolded, these unusual animal-shaped rocks caught my eye. There must be something there. Moreover, it is large in size and clearly shaped, so it will be easy for us to gather together.”

Everyone nodded as if they understood to some extent.

However, Danya and Lina secretly notice Elena.

Elena, who was shaking her head, reluctantly raised her hand.

“But what animal is the shape of the rock marked on the map? Brother? A big one, a squirrel?”

“… It’s a crocodile-shaped rock.”

A moment of silence.

It was Lina who broke the silence.

“K…Keuuuuu! It’s a crocodile!”

“I-I’ve never seen such a cute crocodile! Phuhehe!”

Oh really!

There was a lot of commotion.

Soon, a voice amplified by magic echoed throughout the ship.

— The ship has now arrived on the island. Everyone stand in the magic circle on the deck.

There were numbers written on each magic circle.

If the same number is written, it will fall in the same area.

I led the party to the numbers that indicated the area closest to the ‘crocodile-shaped rock’.

Party members standing in a magic circle with the same number written on it.

Still thinking, ‘Ah, crocodile crocodile crocodile.’ Elena, who was laughing, looked at the straight, square magic circle beneath her feet and started shaking.

“Well, it’s not going to fall like this, right, brother?”

This guy has a fear of heights.

“Go, take a seat and wait, Elena.”

“…Eh?”

— Random transmission begins. Everyone, be careful of shock!

Just then, the ground beneath Elena’s feet began to shine.

Did I intuit something uneasy?

Elena looked up at me with tears in both her eyes.

Even if you look at me like that, there’s nothing I can do for you?

“If you feel like you’re falling, don’t worry. It’s like teleportation.”

“Is it really floating… Falling?”

“Floor.”

Elena looked at her own feet, following my touch on her.

A square-shaped tile where the shining Elena is located.

Good timing.

— Shake!

The floor beneath Elena’s feet literally disappeared.

“Kyaaaaah—!”

Elena’s figure also disappeared below.

She screams.

It’s just a feeling, even if it’s okay.

Still, seeing that image makes me feel relieved.

I guess I’m not a nobleman either.

One by one, the cadets disappeared.

It was the beginning of the promotion battle.

Don’t worry Ian, my drawing skill are like that too… is nice to see the author flesh out the characters with some banter. Grants more depth imo. I just hate the fact that his teacher told him to look and observe those around him and he’s doing none of that…
