Became the Academy Romantic Phantom Thief 171

171 – The New Office

“Ugh…”

Lea puts a piece of cake in her mouth and immediately rejects it.

It was an understandable reaction as it is a food that people like and dislike very much.

I’d rather have ice cream that’s cool, but since it’s a warm and soft cake that just came out of the oven, the texture of the mint chocolate came more clearly.

No, but you mean mintchoco existed before the Industrial Revolution?

I had no choice but to tremble at the recipe with a surprisingly long history.

On the other hand, Juliet casually stabs the cake with a fork and puts it in her mouth.

At first glance, he had the same expressionless expression as usual, but his cheeks were slightly flushed, and the corners of his mouth were slightly raised.

I am happy. The mint chocolate is very delicious.

“Hmm…”

I didn’t mean to say that there was nothing wrong with that.

Isn’t each person’s taste and preference different?

However, apart from the likes and dislikes of mint chocolate, isn’t it too bad for a dinner menu?

I wondered if I should really have this for dinner. Isn’t Leah paying the price right now for forcing the cake into her mouth?

“Isn’t the Director?”

“Hmm. That’s what…”

Looking at his innocent eyes as if he didn’t know anything, I felt speechless.

An expression of confidence that everyone will love mint choco as much as he did.

Aren’t you too insensitive to the subject of being a state spy?

Or maybe it’s all meticulously designed acting. To feed me mint chocolate on purpose…

Such a delusion slowly grew, and then he shook her head and drove it all out of her head.

What would you say is the benefit of feeding me mint chocolate, which is not poison?

Looking at Leah’s reaction, it seemed like it was more than poison, but I didn’t hate mint chocolate that much.

“Eat a lot. Today I···. You don’t really have an appetite.”

“Is that so? The cake is really good, but it’s a pity that you can’t eat it.”

It doesn’t look like he’s regretting it at all. Rather, he realized that he could live on his own, and was a little happy.

Far from being nasty, I watched her eat while bursting into laughter at her fresh and cute appearance that I hadn’t seen before.

Even in the midst of that, Leah, who kept her seat until the end and somehow tried to eat the cake, was also unusual.

“The cake the director bought for me…! I can’t leave it!”

“I’ll buy you another cake, so don’t force yourself to eat it if it doesn’t suit your taste.”

Lea smiles and starts eating delicious strawberry cream cake.

Juliet looked at her like that and muttered to herself as if she couldn’t understand.

“Why do you bother eating something like that with mint chocolate?”

Because not everyone’s tastes are as unique as yours.

No, in Europe, are anti-military groups rather unusual?

Anyway, the slightly unusual dinner party was successfully completed. She let out a sigh of relief as she looked at Juliet, who looked much better than when she was in the office.

As a result, I believe that the favorability rating has increased even slightly.

“Thank you for buying me dinner tonight.”

“What is this? Compared to your efforts, it’s far short. It wouldn’t be bad to have a seat often in the future. At that time, there would probably be a lot more people than there are now.”

Juliet spits out an immediate answer without hesitation as if she waited for my words.

“For me, a place with a lot of people is a bit difficult. Then I’ll just leave.”

“·······.”

In just one moment, it felt like the good feeling that I had worked so hard to build up so far had been reset to 0 stacks.

It was to the extent that I doubted that he might have taken the word that he would leave the company later at this point in response to the cold wind-like reply.

Then Leah said, clinging to Juliet in her natural manner.

“Then let’s meet separately, just the three of us!”

“Three of you?”

“Yes! Early Years Member! A gathering of people who have experienced the old office! How is it?”

Juliet, who seemed to be thinking about something for a moment, finally nodded her head indifferently.

“Is that so?”

“Hee hee. Great!”

It wasn’t an active approval, but it was definitely an answer with a positive meaning.

Since she hadn’t expected to be able to convince him so easily, she was deeply impressed.

I never thought that Leah’s innocence would produce such results.

Anyway, did you simply refuse because you didn’t like a seat with a lot of people?

Doesn’t it have some other special meaning, but that one reason was really everything?

I really don’t know.

“Then let’s go.”

“Goodbye, Director!”

“Both of you enter carefully.”

After saying goodbye in front of the store, we scattered.

···Should we try Hawaiian pizza next time?

“Oh. Come here.”

“How is it?”

Today is the weekend without going to the academy.

I walked down the street alone with Juliet on a sunny afternoon.

If a man and a woman meet on a weekend, it’s common to think of it as a date, but unfortunately, that wasn’t the case.

I heard that the interior of the office that was supposed to be relocated was finished, so I just stopped by to check it out.

Actually, it doesn’t matter if I go alone, but since it was Juliet who chose her office, she naturally became the flow of accompanying her and the two of us.

Wait a minute. When other people see it, doesn’t it feel like the boss forced them to go out on weekends?

I didn’t mean to. I want to be a honey boss who pays a lot of money and orders the right amount of work.

I was agonizing over whether I should just send it back, even now, just to rest.

But when I thought about it, it was rather Juliet who suggested that we go together on the weekend.

That means that I have a minimum level of liking, right?

There’s no reason to voluntarily hang out with a boss you don’t like to look at on the weekends. At least it doesn’t seem like he hates being attached.

Anyway, Juliet and the new office she arrived in had a pretty satisfying assortment.

Maybe you realized where you spent all that much money. Of course, even taking that into account, the amount spent was surprisingly considerable.

“Here is the key.”

“Ah, thank you.”

I opened the office door with the key I got from Juliet.

It is certainly wide. Compared to the original office, it is disrespectfully extraordinarily spacious.

At this level, I wonder if it would be difficult for Leah to do all the cleaning by herself even if she worked all day.

“Let’s go upstairs too.”

“…Was the upper floor also ours?”

“Yes. I would have shown it in paperwork.”

I think it was.

Anyway, the first floor alone is this much, but there is even a second floor.

“It works well. It must have been a lot of work.”

“I was just doing my job.”

It’s not just empty words, it feels like you put a lot of effort into it. Even if you look around, you can see at a glance that the use has been subdivided according to each area.

The first floor was a relatively public area.

A wide main hall and information desk facing you when you enter through the front door. Inside, there were reception rooms and counseling rooms where you could talk with guests.

The second floor can be seen as a space for employees.

The offices of each department divided according to work, meeting rooms, and the CEO’s office were also prepared in the innermost part.

To put it bluntly, it was at a level comparable to that of many small and medium-sized companies in the 21st century.

Although it is not compared to the big conglomerates whose entire large building is a single company, considering that this is the 19th century, even this amount was enormous.

I’m not joking, but it’s probably one of the few companies in London that I can count on my fingers.

After taking a quick look around, I understood why the foundation’s balance was bottoming out.

I have to pay for a building like this with a huge lump sum.

It’s okay though. Because Juliet has the ability to turn her investments into the black.

“Did you say the employee interview is next week?”

“Yes. A total of 200 people passed the first round.”

“There are more than I thought. How many finalists do you plan to select?”

I can only give her basic directions, but since Juliet handles everything else, I have to ask her about the number of people she hires.

Of course, if I set the number of people, they will follow, but it would be more efficient to leave it all to me than meddling one by one, so I decided not to care.

It would be a real big deal if Juliet stabbed her in the back. That’s why I need to make her on my side as quickly as her day.

“First of all, I plan to hire only the minimum number of people enough for the current project to run smoothly.”

“A project?”

“There must be a level of preparation for establishing a sponsorship system and consulting for nobles.”

Um. Both are things I’ve done.

The first one. Even so, the latter was actually something that would make one tilt one’s head from the standpoint of the Foundation.

Helps the nobles and even receives money in return. Can this really be called non-profit?

It should already be seen as a commercial act at the point of receiving money, but is it right for a donation foundation to do this?

‘Maybe we should share it later.’

Currently, they are making excuses saying that it is for the purpose of raising donations, but in order not to give an excuse, if the scale grows, we will have to set up a separate organization dedicated to aristocratic consulting.

“Let’s watch the interview together with the director.”

“That’s right, of course.”

I have no intention of making this all by myself.

To be honest, I have a feeling that both of them are not enough, but that doesn’t mean I can’t have Leah as the interviewer.

Ugh. Even imagining it is horrific. That’s never going to happen.

“I hope that competent employees will apply.”

“I will.”

I waited for the day of the interview thinking simply like that.

It means that by the time you noticed something strange belatedly, you couldn’t turn it around.

A company that is founded for the most part because he want to give his friend scholarship turns into quite the big deal right now. I wonder if they ever found out about his secret and the reason this business is established what could their reaction be?

It wasn’t for his friends. It was for him to be able to donate without bad things happening like orphanages being attacked by the government. He just wanted to make up for the bad he’d made happen, even if indirectly.
