Childhood Friend Is a Genius Wizard chapter 51

Childhood Friend Is a Genius Wizard 51

EP6. Epilogue – Past Promise

“What are you going to do now?”

The two men were having a conversation in the office, just like on the banquet a few days before.

However, the content of the conversation was quite different. The expression on the man’s face when asked was also contradictory.

“···What should I do?”

A dry smile came out of his rotten expression. Dios, the owner of the city, couldn’t even get angry, and continued to grumble as if he had lost his mind.

“What do you think I should do?”

“·····.”

Hector didn’t answer. He himself already knew the answer when he asked the question.

The choice was one of two. Run away or fight back.

If you obey their words and go to court, only ruin awaits you.

And Hector could have predicted that the man in front of him would not run away.

Baron Dios will never give up in this city of adventure. I’d rather bet all hands and gamble.

Hector’s expectations were not wrong.

“I plan to request assistance from the capital.”

“…Will you really actively help Raes?”

“To them, this city is like Gyereuk. It’s a free city, so it’s ambiguous to get involved, but if we leave it as it is, the military power here that has been raised while preventing the invasion of monsters is at a level that cannot be ignored.”

“So why don’t you actively help?”

At Hector’s question, Dios laughed again. But this time was different from before. Hector’s fishy smile seemed to mean that he was driven to the edge of a cliff and made a last resort.

“Then you can give up the Free City. Eliminate the unstable council and I will become the true owner of this city.”

“…You mean to go under the king.”

“Even if I give away my flesh, I have to keep my bones. The royal family will surely not be able to refuse.”

Dios was willing to give up even the privileges of being a free city that had been freed from the rule of the king. Raes’ uniqueness will disappear, but the monsters will disappear anyway, and he was prepared to some extent.

“There is only one problem. Hour.”

“·····.”

“If I were to be arrested before aid arrived from the capital… The power of the city passes to those two. They will try to make the support I asked for out of the question.”

They will not lose the privileges of the Free City at all costs.

Surely, his words are ineffective because he is a criminal, and he will take the pod. Or, for whatever reason, they might just cut their throats before help arrives.

We must hold out until aid comes from the capital.

“···The Silent Wolf is the strongest in Laes. Isn’t it Hector?”

“Of course.”

“Yes… We are in the same boat When I was arrested, your end was expected.”

“···Yes. I understand what you mean.”

***

“The baron sent a messenger.”

“Are you sure?”

“This is information given by a servant in disguise at the mansion. He’s a reliable guy.”

“Couldn’t you attach someone?”

“Since we started in the middle of the night, it would be too late even if we tried to catch up. The servant also heard it belatedly from the coachman and finally figured it out.”

At Dordan’s words, Shriegel groaned and fell into agony.

“…There won’t be many places to send it to…”

“Because this city is stuck in the outskirts. …Isn’t there a possibility that it’s his birth family?”

“I don’t think so. The home of Baron Dios is on the other side of the kingdom. It takes too long.”

When Shriegel flatly denied it, Dordan thought of other ways.

“…What is the probability of going to the lord?”

“Even that is slim. Even when we ask for support for the monster invasion, the lord never listens, so we don’t get along well.”

The two of them put their heads together at a clear answer that didn’t come out, and kept guessing where Dios might have stretched out his hand.

“···Capital?”

“···Capital, Sudora···. Hmm, it’s ambiguous, but surprisingly…?”

“If it’s the real capital, we’re done just by coming. If you put the guillotine in front of your neck, wouldn’t you try to hold on to the tightest rope?”

“Of course you are right. But would the capital really want to actively help Raes? Above all, the distance is also on the far side.”

While throwing such doubts, Shriegel did not completely rule out the odds.

Dordan also tapped the armrest of the chair with his finger, agreeing with Spiegel.

From noble mtl dot com.

“Of course, I can’t be too sure. The only thing we can be sure of at this point is that the sooner we can, the better for us.”

“You have said it a hundred times. Do you have two days left?”

The grace period given to Baron Dios by the Council to make an official statement.

If the baron doesn’t show up within two days, then a compulsory arrest process will be taken.

“How far did the mercenaries go?”

“About a third.”

“You are more enemy than you think.”

“Even with the power of money, this is enough. It would be correct to assume that the rest were on the side of the baron.”

Dordan began calculating slowly.

“The Silent Wolf, 60% of the mercenaries, and the baron’s privates… We are all adventurers and 30% mercenaries…”

I didn’t get it easily.

In Laes, mercenaries are weak except for the Silent Wolf. Adventurers could be rated much higher.

The important ones are the silent wolves and the soldiers of Dios.

In terms of quantity, they have the upper hand, but in terms of quality, the Baron is better.

It was a situation where the results could not be confirmed simply by simulation in the head.

“You should include this friend as well.”

“…Ah, that’s right. Stop forgot Excellent swordsman and wizard. It’s a very good power.”

Sean, who had been sitting still, not participating in Dordan and Shriegel’s conversation, frowned at him.

The boy retorted in a cold tone.

“Levy is not involved in this.”

“Hmm… That’s a little disappointing news.”

“hahahaha, you accepted it with those conditions. Please understand.”

“Understanding, of course. Even a swordsman with skills on par with Hector is reassuring.”

“·····.”

Sean wanted to leave this position right away. So he wanted to leave this city.

But he couldn’t leave Laes because Levi hadn’t woken up yet.

‘…Is this really the right choice?’

I came to the adventure city of Laes to hunt monsters with Levi.

However, Levi was not by his side, and he was on the verge of going to war with someone who was not a monster.

It is not clearly divided into good and evil, and cannot be divided into black and white.

A gray war that seeks to satisfy greed while advocating justice on the outside.

“If the baron does not come out of the mansion in three days, we will head to the mansion to arrest him.”

“There will probably be a battle in front of the mansion.”

“Shaun. Then you take care of Hector. You are the only one in our power who can stand against Hector.”

“Please, please. For the justice of Laes.”

The two who had tried to kill themselves just a few days ago were now bowing their heads and begging him. Please let me slaughter my enemies and make them bleed.

“I understand.”

However, Shawn’s determination did not change.

Everything for Levi.

Gania lowered her gaze to the ground and sighed deeply.

“Is it right for me to come here?”

I tried mumbling to myself, but no clear answer came out. She had already come this far, and she had been thinking about it over and over again, but the more she did, the more the conflict grew.

She raised her head and looked at the landscape in front of her. Her all-too-familiar look greeted her.

A place she has been with almost her whole life since childhood. A place that no longer has anything to do with you.

Nevertheless, the place she came back to was the Silent Wolf Clan.

As the image of the clan was engraved in her eyes, a commotion rose in her heart again, but Gania struggled to hold on to her heart.

‘Yes. Even though it has the modifier transfer, you were the vice-captain, right? It’s enough if you just say you’ve come to say hello. What will Ji do…?’

After controlling her inner thoughts to an almost hypnotic level, she slowly walked forward.

I saw familiar looking members guarding the main gate. They were surprised to see if they recognized Gania as well, and reacted.

“····Vice-captain? How is this…”

Then another mercenary next to him tapped him and whispered.

“Hey man…!”

“Ah…! ····Gania, ···Mr. What’s going on here…”

Gania, who had been very nervous until just now, laughed when she saw the two bewildered members.

‘Yes. Even if I’m not there, they’re going back after all.’

Gania, who finally realized the obvious fact, regained her senses and answered her question.

“I’m here to see the captain.”

“… Huh? But the captain…”

“Why? Captain, won’t you let me in?”

“No, not that…”

“Then you can come in? I go in.”

The mercenary guarding the entrance didn’t know what to do at the former vice-captain’s reckless attitude, and just ignored it.

She was able to quickly get inside.

When Gania appeared, everyone’s eyes were on her.

“What are you looking at? Are you seeing me for the first time?”

She exclaimed proudly. I no longer felt anxious.

Well, this was her own home and they were a family.

Then Gania saw her man who was sitting in a corner of her and eagerly scooping up her rice.

She smiled and walked towards it.

“…Are you still here?”

“Hmm…? Oh, Sister Gania! I haven’t seen you for a few days. Where have you been?”

“…You are too.”

Looking at Kren, who really didn’t know anything, Gania let out a sigh or a laugh.

“Kren, did you hear about Shawn and Levy?”

“Those two…? Don’t you know how to get along well?”

“This is really great. You.”

“What am I going to do because I’m worried about them? They are not children who will die anywhere.”

I wanted to let them know that the two of them and I had barely escaped the danger of death.

But what use would that be? Gania decided to just leave Kren alone.

“What is going on up to this point? Gania.”

Then Hector stepped in front of her and said.

It was difficult for Gania to look into his eyes, but she forced herself to meet his gaze.

“···Leader. There is something I want to tell you.”

“I am no longer your captain.”

“Then shall I call you Mister like before?”

“…Follow me. Come in and talk.”

Hector immediately turned around and took her steps back to her private room.

Gania followed him inside with a heavy expression on her face.

The place the two arrived was Hector’s room. It’s a space that she has been in for a very long time.

“Let’s get right to the point.”

“The boring things are still there. Is it natural that it’s only been a few days?”

“What do you want to say?”

“War, are you really going to do it?”

Hector drank the already cold coffee on the table. It was truly bittersweet.

“I don’t understand the intent of the question.”

“I already know everything. Not only me, but all the citizens of Laes are noticing it!”

“·····.”

“···What is power so far, I thought I finally managed to defeat all the monsters and finally become peaceful…”

Gania’s body trembled as she lowered her head. Hector couldn’t say anything.

“You want to turn this city into a battlefield…?”

“···Let’s talk about it here. Stop going back.”

“Uncle…. Do you remember the promise you made with us in the past…?”

I didn’t forget. Can’t forget

Still, the scar across the middle of her face throbs every time she wakes up.

When I close my eyes, I recall the day’s events as vividly as if they were yesterday.

The burning city, the despair of the people, the madness of the monsters, the day when hell unfolded in the small city of Laes.

He ran into two girls who had lost their parents. Hector made a pact with her little sister.

“…I can’t remember those old days. I forgot everything.”

“…Everyone?”

“Yes. Every.”

No matter how much I wiped it off, the tears wouldn’t stop flowing.

Having been denied everything, she forgot all the words she had originally prepared, and she just wanted to get out of this place.

“…Dear mister, what were we?”

“A girl with great talent and her sister. That’s all.”

After Hector’s unhesitating answer, silence passed between the two for a while.

When Gania finally opened her mouth, they both realized that she would never be able to go back to her old ways.

From noble mtl dot com.

“··· When her sister wakes up, she will leave the city. I’m sick of it now. All.”

“Yes.”

Gania spurred her seat and got up and left.

Left alone with her, Hector poured the rest of her coffee into her mouth.

The coffee was too bitter.

Uhh, he should just leave the city and continue his journey. Is his brain turned off as far as Levi is concerned? This isn’t like the adventure novel I thought it would be… but it’s okay despite the redundancy.
