73 – Let’s stay together a little longer
Seasonal semester. In a way, it is a system that can be said to be a golden opportunity for college students to earn graduation credits by allowing them to earn the same number of credits as they would take in a semester during only 4 to 6 weeks of lectures.
Seasonal semesters are almost mandatory for teachers who aim to graduate early or who need to prepare for the national exam in their fourth year like Hansol or Ara.
That’s it. There is nothing like seasonal semesters to quickly complete required liberal arts subjects such as English, Chinese characters, and writing, which are cumbersome to take during the regular semester, and can even be an opportunity for credit laundering.
Even as many repeat students come to the seasonal semester, the advantage of being able to get an A grade is an added bonus for fall-study students.
So, if seasonal semesters are so good, why don’t all college students take them?

If you earn 3 credits, you must attend lectures 3 hours a day, and if you earn 2 credits, you must attend 2 hours of lectures 4-5 times a week.
If you are taking 6 credits, which is the maximum number of credits allowed during the seasonal semester, you must attend lectures for a full 6 hours every day.

However, the biggest problem is that seasonal semester lectures, as the name suggests, are held during vacation.
Having to take classes again right after finishing a tough semester is nothing short of torture for Korean college students, who are said to be the laziest creatures on earth.

The ‘World of Fairy Tales’ course I am taking is a 3-credit course. You listen to it for three hours at a time, four days a week for four weeks.

Because it’s vacation, I think people who don’t listen to the season will enjoy other things during this time, so it’s even harder.
Hyuna Hwang, a female student from another department in my group, sitting to my right, is not even 30 minutes into the lecture and she is just looking at her phone and not even listening to the lecture.
I also do other things like chatting with Soyi a little bit in between lectures, but this girl is a bit harsh.
