Damn Academy chapter 127

127 - Ghost of the Guardian Tree (6)

127 – Ghost of the Guardian Tree (6)

Zion and I watched the setting sun on the shore of the Eternia River.

Seeing the dots wasn’t a very good choice.

The remnants of the emotions that exploded still disturbed my heart. I realized that my emotions are still immature, so should I say that I have my own income?

I didn’t want to think deeply about the fortune telling the old man said. It rocked me more than I needed to, and I needed time to sort out my emotions as I lost my composure.

And suddenly I wanted to see Sylverine. On the way back, I thought I’d go see Stitch, who had entrusted me with repairs.

Shion, who was sitting next to me with an expressionless expression, asked me.

“Looks like the fortune teller got it right.”

“Well, in my own way.”

“Then… Is it true that I was an orphan?”

It’s not something to brag about as an orphan, but it’s not something to be forced to hide.

“Yes.”

“… It makes a little sense now.”

“What?”

“What Master said. People who grow up affluent don’t feel the need to be strong.”

“What do you mean?”

“No matter how talented you are, if you have the right wealth and status, you want to settle down. That’s why he said that only those who have experienced hell can become truly strong.”

Be strong. My only wish was to be strong enough to protect the one I love. Now, for some reason, that goal seemed so far away.

“I felt it when I saw it today. You haven’t lived a normal life either.”

The old man’s words contained information that could infer my past. So it seemed that I could guess my past without having to explain in detail what had happened.

Shion indifferently looked at the river stained by the sunset. And he spoke lightly.

“I am an orphan too. Maybe this is why Master took me away.”

That meant that Shion also experienced his own trials, and on the one hand, he acknowledged me and opened his heart.

“… Do you still want to fight me?”

“No, not at all.”

She didn’t seem very interested anymore.

That’s how we killed time in silence for a while. The wind blew and the river roared.

When the sun finally set completely and the twilight moon rose, we got up as if we had promised.

Someone called me while I was brushing off the pebbles from my pants.

“… Candy?”

Me and Shion looked back at the same time.

Cecil and Martha were standing about ten steps away.

It’s a meeting that I couldn’t have calculated. Come to think of it, they also said they were coming to see fortune-telling.

However, Cecile’s impression was different from usual. She looked at us and muttered quietly.

“It’s real candy right….”

She glanced at Shion and then glared at me again. After grasping the situation, he pursed her lips in anger.

Cecil stood tall like that, then she turned around and joined her crowd.

Martha belatedly chased Cecil.

“Huh? Hey hey! Where!”

Shion, who had been watching her, yawned and said as if she was tired.

“I want to go now too.”

Then he left without saying goodbye. She is a girl like the wind.

I felt uncomfortable with Cecil’s attitude, so I followed the place where Cecil left, but I couldn’t see her again.

In the end, Silverin’s stitches that had been entrusted with repairs were retrieved again. Stitch had been shattered once and had cracks here and there like broken glass, but the repairman said there was no major problem with the operation.

After that, I went home.

It has been a long day.

***

Trisha had already left for Thorn Garden, so her mansion was quiet. I pulled up the duvet on my bed once out of curiosity. Again no.

When she was there, the room always felt cluttered, but when she was gone, it felt empty.

She wrote a letter to Silverin after a long time.

New friends. What happened in the circulatory system. And even stories of top grades in practice. I hope that it will be a little bit of fun for Silverin.

I was about to write today’s events, but I stopped my pen and reviewed what the astrologer had said.

Can Sylverin tell me the answer? After thinking about it for a while, she didn’t write the fortune telling story. I had to stand alone, and she couldn’t ask for answers about her life from her.

Like that, I sent a letter written about my daily life in Eternia and went to bed.

And I had a dream that night.

Everything was blurry, so it didn’t leave much of an impression. I faced something blurry, there was someone behind me, and we were on a cliff.

That was all. The closest memory to him is when he was chasing Liza and Benemaril.

It must have come out of nowhere without warning because he had stirred up a lot of memories he wanted to forget the night before.

***

I sent Stitch to Cecil from Eternia’s campus early in the morning.

The look on her face the day before bothered her, and she needed someone to appraise the crystal she obtained from the wingless dragon.

But there was no reply until after lunch.

I couldn’t stand it, so I put on a mask and headed to the library.

Cecil was easily found in her library. As I approached Cecil, she stopped picking out her book and turned around and walked away.

It must have seen me, but I was pretending not to see it. Apathy felt in action. It was clear that I was disappointed or felt sad about something.

I followed Cecil at an appropriate distance. Seeing my pursuit, she quickened her pace to shake off.

As Cecil sat down at the desk in the reading room, I sneaked over and took a seat across from her.

“Shall we talk?”

“….”

Without replying, Cecile opened her book and covered her face. It was a sign that he didn’t want to make eye contact with me.

I quickly looked back on my mistakes yesterday, but there was nothing to make Cecil angry.

“Did you get the stitches?”

“… ….”

Cecil packed up her books and moved to another desk.

Not good. I guess I’m pretty pissed off about this.

If he pretended not to know, his relationship with Cecil could have ended forever. You have to keep following him and find out why he is angry.

I brazenly followed Cecile and sat facing each other at the same desk.

“I brought something that might interest you. Aren’t you curious?”

Cecil covered her face with a book and said.

“I am not interested. Go away.”

Unlike Cecil, her tone was cold.

“Let’s talk.”

“I hate it.”

I deftly took out one of her books and looked through it.

“I will follow you until you tell me.”

It was a novel about a murderer who condemns a cheating man. In between, I frowned because of the horrific illustrations. I haven’t seen him like that, but his taste is very eccentric.

Cecil said with her face still covered.

“I will report you as bullying in school.”

“I’m a ghost student, so I won’t get caught if I report it?”

“I’m going to call all the seniors I know and ask them to get rid of it.”

“It’s sad. Even mobilize seniors to bully friends.”

“… Sad?”

“Yes.”

From noble mtl dot com

“Seowoowooun?????”

As the atmosphere gradually deteriorated, I changed the topic with my quick wits.

“There must be something disappointing about me.”

“Huh….”

“Why did you just leave after seeing me yesterday?”

“You say you’re going on a fun date, but if an uninvited guest comes and interrupts you, would you use it?”

“It’s not a date.”

“Ah, yes. It was nice to secretly make an appointment at the rig bed and enjoy the evening sunset just the two of us. Who asked you out on a date first?”

“….”

“Why don’t we pick only the seniors and meet them one by one? Good? When did you make an appointment with Iris?”

Oh, that’s a big deal. This is her ugly fur stuck firmly. How should she resolve the misunderstanding that she only picks seniors to meet?

“I had no choice but to meet Xion.”

“Ah, I guess there are friends to date with, and friends to use only when necessary. Was I too presumptuous?”

A thorn sprouts from every word you say. It’s pretty scary when he’s angry.

“If Shion continues to fight, my friends around me will get tired, so I decided to negotiate separately.”

“Oh, I guess so. It’s so important that I shouldn’t have seen it at school and met it separately in a nice place. You’ve never done that to any other friend.”

“….”

“Ah, if anyone hears it, they’ll think I’m saying it because I like you. I just expressed my sadness as a ‘friend’ who cares for each other.”

My head is pounding. What should I do to calm him down? In this state, it is impossible to entrust the request. Had I known this was going to happen, I would have brought a bribe.

Cecile lowered the book. Her eyes were slightly bloodshot.

“….”

Are you lucky? Isn’t it? I believe not. No matter how sad it is, is it enough to cry?

…… Maybe it’s just because I’ve been reading the book for a long time.

“Tell me honestly. Are you only meeting seniors? Why are you friends with me?”

“Yeah, you….”

Cecil cut her off halfway through.

“Because I have a pretty face, I like my body, everything is fine. Even the perverted reason of having big breasts can be viewed as cute. But I don’t think I’ll forgive her if I became her friend just because she’s the head of the magic department.”

This is a big deal. That’s right because he’s the head of the Faculty of Magic. I think it’s desirable to look at the area that I was born with and not the area that I was born with. People regard looks as more of a problem than skills, but this is the opposite.

“With you… I thought it would be fun to play together.”

I guess that’s a good answer.

Cecile raised the book again and covered her face before answering.

“That’s a 7 point answer.”

“How many points is that?”

“A thousand points.”

“….”

Even if he said that, it seemed that his hardened heart had been relieved a little.

“You said it would be fun to play together, but why did you never propose?”

“I only call when something interesting happens.”

“…… Then will you come when I call?”

I couldn’t say no because he said it like that.

“Of course.”

Cecile lowered the book slightly and said with only her eyes exposed.

“…… Then come to the Guardian Tree tonight.”

“Isn’t the area around the Guardian Tree still off-limits?”

“Do you know why it was banned?”

“… No.”

“A ghost appears in front of the guardian tree. So, come with me to catch the ghost.”

Damian looks ok only from outside
    Inside it is already broken
Your mother left you to death and built a new family
Your 10 years lover left you when you got attached to the point you cant live without

Even if he can live normally with strong will and adaptation it doesnt erase subconscious trauma

Honestly, I am not really liking how some of the girls express envy/possessiveness even though not much had happened in between them. I mean like in Azelis case, it is still understandable considering she has not made any friends. However, in Cecile’s case, their relation was more like of fun, playful friends and I, honestly, see no reason why she is acting this way. However, considering Lilith and Luna got character development, it is still too early to say anything.

And yes, it is good that the fortune teller told Damian the truth about his problems. He is stuck in the past, and is not fully opening his heart to anyone, including SIlverin. Of course, it is good to try to solve his problems by himself, although, he should learn to rely at least on Silverin a bit more, considering how much he thinks of her.

Bruh. It’s been so long since I read it, what the heck is going on…
