Damn Academy chapter 145

145 - Taming the Madman (5)

145 – Taming the Madman (5)

Bibi went on a subjugation road with her soldiers.

The flag with the symbol of the principality, a lion, flutters majestically.

The soldiers lined up in a diamond shape with the princess in the center, protecting her fiercely.

The princess is making every effort to ensure the safety of the route she travels.

I am also accompanying you within the diamond-shaped escort wall. I was treated as an object of protection, but I was so grateful that I didn’t know what to do.

On the way out of the forest, you can see large claw marks on the trees sparsely, as if they had been hacked with an axe. At such times, some of the soldiers would collect hair from the trail.

Shortly after, the reconnaissance team returned to the base after the search.

“There is a place ahead that is presumed to be the base of the demons.”

Gerald asked.

“Were there monsters roaming around that area?”

“No. It seems to have hidden deep inside the burrow.”

“Get ready for battle immediately. We will move directly to the Witchbeast’s base.”

After moving for about 30 minutes, the beast’s footprints and a cave leading underground appeared in front of us.

It was a place presumed to be the base of the Demonic Beast.

The space was moderately open, so it seemed suitable for spreading camp.

The reconnaissance team, which briefly explored the inside of the cave, reported to Nielen.

“Traces of the Witchbeast continue to the depths of the cave.”

The ceiling of the cave was quite high, but the width was narrow, so it seemed difficult to lead soldiers into the cave.

Nielen said.

“It is suicidal to enter a cave with no visibility.”

It was difficult to operate magic in a narrow area, and it was impossible to take advantage of the number of heads.

There was no other way than to bring the demons out of the cave and pour in a joint attack.

The soldiers surrounded the entrance of the cave in a semicircle to block the escape route, and the commanders gathered in one place to hold a strategy meeting.

There was a discussion about how to bring the demon out of the cave, and it wasn’t long before the decision was made to use the ‘bait group’.

The decoy group literally means to lure the beast directly by putting in a fast-footed and skilled knight.

Soon after that, the formation of the bait group proceeded swiftly like water flowing.

I had to roll my head quickly.

To me, what happens after that is more important than the demon subjugation. We need to quickly identify the variables that will affect the future. From the rebellion of the guards to the physical secrets that the princess is hiding. To do this, you need to penetrate deeper into the realm.

Even if you use ignorant methods….

***

Gerald whispered softly into Vivi’s ear.

“Princess, a disciple of the Archmage has requested a meeting.”

“Um, good. I ask you to come.”

As Gerald beckoned, two escort knights walked forward with Damian in between.

Damian bowed her head to show her respect, and Bibi asked.

“So, what happened?”

Damian threw a bomb-like word without hesitation.

“I will also join the decoy team.”

Then, Gerald, the aide, immediately stepped forward to dissuade Damian.

“Get out of here. Baiting is a life-and-death task. Do you think that is that easy?”

From noble mtl dot com

“Rovilion’s biting power is said to crush rocks, but I know that it is vulnerable to disturbance because it has slow feet and two heads. The risks are well recognized. I can proudly say that my eyes and feet are better than anyone else’s. There is no one better suited for the bait team than I am.”

“This is nonsense….”

In the meantime, Bibi, who was sitting with her legs crossed behind Gerald, spoke.

“Good. I will use you in the bait team. As much as your teacher’s fame, I believe that you will show an activity worthy of him.”

Gerald closed his eyes tightly.

He knew.

‘What kind of activity is the bait team doing?’

To put it bluntly, this is a mission given to soldiers who don’t care much if they die. Vivi didn’t want to see Damien in action. I just wanted to see Damian run away in terror.

And then, he must be saved by the knights of the principality, and he must be picturing the scene in which the show is beautifully decorated.

Damian said.

“I will not disappoint you.”

***

After about 50 steps into the cave, the light did not reach and the darkness, which made it impossible to see an inch ahead, greeted the members of the decoy team.

As if going through the intestines of a snake, the inside of the cave was dark and choked with moist air.

Although it is a bait group made up of veterans, there was no choice but to instinctively shrink from the pressure given by the space.

“You follow me from the last place. That is the name.”

When Damian encountered the demon, he was placed in a safe position where he could escape as quickly as possible. He said that was the name of the superior. Even though he was taken with disrespect, Damian was still a key figure to protect first and foremost.

A veteran knight in charge of the team placed luminous stones at intervals of thirty steps.

“When you encounter a demon, you must escape using the light of the luminous stone as a guidepost. Be sure to keep that in mind.”

Luminous stones were not strong enough to brighten the area.

The other twisted the chicken neck and held it as if holding a wine bottle, dripping blood drop by drop as they passed.

It was an inducement to stimulate the taste of the beast with a sensitive sense of smell.

Judging from the leftover game bones lying around, it was unmistakable that it was the home of a demonic beast. However, the cave was deeper than expected.

And, completely unexpected, traces of humans caught my eye.

“This is… what?”

The bait team leader held a torch and looked at the wall.

There was an old mural painted there.

“People lived in a place like this?”

Another article said.

“Because it is a place with a deep history of indigenous people. It’s not too strange.”

Damian also looked closely at the mural.

It was a painting with ten young men and women in the center surrounded by dozens of people.

A young man and woman standing in the center have wreaths on their heads, while those around them dance.

It feels like a festival or a wedding of tribal people, but the expression of the young man and woman in the center is expressed darkly.

“I thought it was a record of a treasure burial place. Go ahead.”

As I moved forward, the murals with a similar feeling intermittently continued.

An illustration of a festival held over a coiled snake rather than a young man and woman.

A picture of raising one’s arms and reverence for something.

Then the captain with a torch raised his hand and signaled the men to stop.

“Wait.”

Then he stretched out his left hand holding the fire in front of him.

And the torch is slightly pushed backwards at regular intervals.

“The wind is blowing against us. Is there an aboveground passage on the other side?”

As the captain tried to go further, Damian spoke urgently.

“You can’t go!”

And then Damian suddenly pulled out his sword.

“…What?”

Soon after, the headwind became so strong that I could feel it with my body.

Sensing a strange feeling, the captain grabbed the tip of the torch and pushed it forward again.

And about twenty paces ahead, a two-headed lion with eyes wide open appeared.

The demon beast growled in a low voice enough to make the iron armor rattle.

The headwind was the snort of the Witchbeast.

This guy found his prey and approached it while crawling in a low position.

“Close your eyes!!”

The captain took out the magic stone of flash from his back pocket and threw it on the floor.

Soon after that, a dazzling light burst out with a roar.

The decoy team members started to run away all at once.

An eardrum-splitting roar echoed from the back aisle.

The Demonic Beast, who has temporarily lost his sight, headbutts the wall. The walls thumped like an earthquake.

Some of the torches lost their light as I ran frantically. The only thing left was the captain’s.

Because of the urgent situation, there was no time to look around.

Called the captain.

“Liston! Baron! Targis! Damian! If you are following me, answer me!”

“Yes!”

“Yes!”

“I am following you well!”

I didn’t hear a single answer.

It was a situation where they were competing for time, but even the leader’s torch was extinguished by the stream of water falling from the ceiling. They had to make their way by relying on the luminous stones they had placed along the way. In the darkness, a series of thuds could be heard.

“Who is it!”

“Gwa, it’s okay!”

“Even if your knee breaks, run!”

They checked the members’ faces for a while at the place where the luminous stones were installed.

“Liston, there is no Liston!”

“We must save! I heard you fall a moment ago, but I don’t think you got up.”

The captain shook his head. Couldn’t go back

“It’s late. Just focus on escaping!!”

The leader grabbed the team member who was about to return and pulled him out. Fighting the Witchbeast in a cave where you can’t see anything was an act of suicide.

In the meantime, the leader sensed something strange and said.

“Damian! Where is this damn Damian?”

“He was the first of us to run away.”

“Damn, damn! I hope you are right.”

***

The duchy’s knights surrounded the entrance of the cave in a semicircle, paying close attention to the sound of footsteps echoing inside the cave.

After a while, the sound of heavy breathing was heard from inside the cave. And soon after, the bait group ran out of the cave sweating profusely.

There were five of us when we went in, but only three when we left.

Two people. Damian and Liston hadn’t come out yet.

A few knights came running to help them, as the decoy crew members who had succeeded in escaping were exhausted as if they were about to collapse.

I waited longer, but no one came out.

Sensing an abnormality, Gerald shouted with his complexion pale.

“Why don’t Damian and the other one come out!”

The bait team leader also said with a puzzled face.

“Liston tripped and fell behind on his run, and Damian suddenly disappeared while clearly ahead of us. If they didn’t come out before us, they’re still in the cave.”

The demon’s roar echoes again from inside the cave. Like the fallopian tubes, the long passage conveyed the sound clearly enough to make the waiting people flinch.

Gerald spoke directly to Nielen.

“I need to go get it right away.”

General Commander Nielen nodded her head with a serious hard face. A situation where you have to risk entering the cave. He drew his sword and stepped forward, but his expression contorted as he sensed that it was already too late.

In the meantime, a strange noise suddenly came from inside the cave.

Sureuk, sereuk, sereuk

Something made a mark in the abyss where there was no light.

Everybody’s nerves were turned straight into the cave.

It was as if something was sweeping the hard floor in a consistent rhythm. The sound gradually gets closer.

The wizards and knights who blocked the entrance raised their weapons as if they would jump into battle at any moment.

Soon after, a shape began to appear in the sunlight over the entrance of the cave.

It was the head and pitchfork of a huge lion like a rock.

As soon as the knights tried to preemptively attack, a stop order was issued.

“All stop!”

Sureuk, sereuk, sereuk

Soon after, a man covered in blood came out, holding the lion’s mane in one hand and dragging it along.

He is drenched from head to toe as if he had been showered in blood. Everyone didn’t know who he was. It was to the point of making an absurd thought that the madman who had lived in the cave before could not stand the commotion and came out. It didn’t take long to recognize him. Gorgeous features visible through the drooping hair. That man was Damian.

What was dragged out by his hand was the severed head of the beast.

The mouths of the soldiers who watched the scene were gaping.

A kid who was just a student came out alive from the beast’s den. He didn’t even come out alive, so he even decapitated the Witchbeast at will.

And behind him was Liston, a member of the straggled Decoy Joe, limping on one of his feet. Silence enveloped the area.

Damian came out of the cave and let go of the head he was dragging.

Then I slowly walked forward with a weary gait.

The knights blocking the entrances opened the way without saying anything. At the end of the open road, Bibi was sitting cross-legged. She, too, froze with her eyes wide open in her astonishment.

Damian then approached the princess and knelt down on one knee in front of her.

Gerald opened his mouth cautiously.

“What happened?”

Then Liston, who came out of the cave belatedly, shouted at Gerald.

“While being chased by the Witchbeast, I tripped and fell behind. In the meantime, Damian came back alone and carried me on his back. And… The speed was slow, so I ended up being caught by the Witchbeast….”

Liston pauses for a moment. He also had an expression that he did not understand the situation at the time.

From noble mtl dot com

“He cut the beast’s head.”

It was a testimony that left everyone in awe. Bibi closed her eyes for a moment, as if she didn’t want to admit it. Damian was so terrifying that it was hard to believe he was seventeen.

Acknowledging Damian was to the benefit of Sylveryn as well. But the ball was so clear. He should have been congratulated and rewarded for this achievement.

“I sent you as a bait team, but you did more than you were entrusted with. More than anyone else, extraordinary and courageous.”

“I just did what I had to do.”

“You saved the life of my loyal knight by stepping into a race against time. Honorable deeds should be rewarded appropriately. Say what you want.”

Damien slowly raised his head and met her eyes with the princess.

“I would like you to appoint me as a direct escort for the princess.”

I couldn’t figure out why she was morbidly obsessed with the position, but now she had to accept Damien’s insistence.

“… Good night. Is that all?”

“Also, please allow me to serve the princess’s feet with my own hands.”

“… !”

She put on a look on her face asking if she had heard it right.

The baboon’s stomach twisted as if it were being squeezed.

After rejecting the offer to colonel her shoes, she suddenly changed her mind and decided to attend to her feet. And that too, by setting up a feat that could demand a greater reward.

I couldn’t fathom what she was up to. Damian was unpredictable and uncontrollable.

“You are asking for a unique reward.”

I grinded my teeth without a sound of rubbing.

Thanks to his training in the social world, he maintained a calm smile without showing much expression, but his complexion turned red. Thanks to the wide-brimmed hat, it was only invisible to the people around.

Her arms trembled as she involuntarily clenched her fists.

The things she had envisioned were turned upside down in an absurd way. Her anger and bewilderment mingled and made her dizzy.

“… Good night. I will grant your request. Come into my bed and attend to me every morning and evening.”

As Gerald watched, he fell into deep thought.

Has Bibi ever had a man wash her feet?

As far as he can remember, she never had one.

Damian slowly raises his head.

“I will become the sword that protects the princess from today.”

Bibi clenched her fists and repeated her straightening. Reluctantly, she held out her right hand to him.

“… Yes, I will accept your resolution.”

Then, at a speed slower than falling on a leaf, Damian took the princess’s hand and kissed the back of her hand.

And on the back of his hand, there were traces of red lips soaked in the lion’s blood.

Overwhelmed by the atmosphere the two created, no one dared to breathe.

Only the lion flag, the symbol of the principality, towered high above the rider’s head as if piercing the sky, fluttering in the wind.

This madman lol. If he only he knew that the princess is doing all this because of her inferiority towards Silverin.

    1. Ineur says:

yeah, I thought this arc was going to be frustrating because of this damn princess’s one-sided grudge that doesn’t even involve Damien, but here comes Damien making this arc entertaining
