I Became a Person Who Wanted To Drop Out of the Academy chapter 1

I Became a Person Who Wanted To Drop Out of the Academy 1

Episode 1 – I’m a fool –

I’m a fool.

I thought that they would turn down my admission just because I swore during the interview.

Thinking about it, some high nobles even dare to disrespect professors with their family’s name on their backs.

I was complacent with the irresponsible thought that my admission would be denied even though my grades aren’t bad.

Perhaps the shocking interview wasn’t that big of a deal because the professor’s mother had died a long time ago.

I should have sworn more.

Still, I ended up receiving this academy admission certificate so I should attend the academy.

It is also impossible to drop out halfway due to the contract.

If it’s a case of expulsion due to school regulations, it’s almost equivalent to felon under imperial law, so I can’t take that route, which would probably make me rot in jail.

‘Expulsion via school regulations is realistically impossible. The only option left… is within the principal’s authority.’

The principal of the Jelip Academy has the authority to decide the expulsion of a student. So I need to be hated by the principal and get expelled.

But how?

How can a mere student meet the principal easily?

Based on my experience of going through elementary, middle, and high school in South Korea, a plain student like me doesn’t have the chance to meet the principal.

Even if all the parents gathered, it would be hard to secure a place, and I don’t think my parents in this world could do that either.

I can’t quit because the contract prevents it. Damn it.

‘I’d be less nervous if there was an academy in the game…’

In the game I used to play, World Fantasy Saga (WFS), there is no academy.

And because I have played the game and know of the existence of better teachers, it doesn’t matter if I don’t go to the academy.

‘If I can get the same results without going to the academy, then after growing up somewhere else for 4 years, it might be better to check on or confront the villain…’

Overall, it’s better to go outside.

So, when I decided not to attend the entrance ceremony and was planning to cosplay as a delinquent and devise a plan,

Bang Bang Bang-

Someone was knocking on my dormitory’s door.

Riiip-

And without stopping, it ripped open the door.

Turning my head towards the entrance of the door that was torn open, a large guy who was at least one head taller than me was looking down on me.

“Don’t come in.”

With that, I quickly covered the entrance with the door, which I fortified and tore.

I was confronting the person who ripped the door apart without a second’s delay.

And he completely tore the door apart.

Like Hulk, it snapped in half.

I didn’t know a door could break like that.

“Abraxas Mantuti[h]oti, the second son of the Count of Mantuti[h]oti.”

Suddenly he stood in front of me and started explaining something.

“You haven’t attended since the enrollment ceremony.”

And the purpose that popped out of his mouth.

I immediately began to think quickly.

I tried to think hard about how to avoid the person who could turn me into the Hulk.

I do have a secret weapon prepared for the future, but using that would take me further away from being expelled from the academy.

Is a first-year student allowed to fight a professor?

Even if the national representative’s personality is rotten, if their skills are the best, they can be held back for honor, and so they would try to tie him to the academy by all means.

I thought about it, but there’s no answer.

I decided to just babble nonsense.

“The entrance ceremony is a place to celebrate the students who have enrolled, so wherever I am, as a student of the academy, is an entrance ceremony- Ahhh!”

“Be quiet and follow me quickly.”

He said to follow him, but he was the one holding my ear and dragging me towards the entrance ceremony.

Being born in 21st century South Korea, this was a horrific scene of human rights abuses I couldn’t tolerate.

Soon after, the doors to the entrance ceremony abruptly opened.

The eyes looking at the auditorium from their seats rotated 180 degrees to look back at me.

In their retinas entered an image of a man being dragged by a brute.

It was me.

“Wait a minute! Whether you’re a professor or an executioner here to execute me, anyway, a person stronger than me! If you show such direct interest as this then I would come by myself! There’s no need to force me like this!”

“Doesn’t he already have a criminal record?”

“So committing a crime means immediate forcible execution? It’s enforced when you refuse to be conscripted!”

“He refused to be conscripted.”

“Was it a crime to be absent from the entrance ceremony? I guess I’m the same criminal as the current saint!”

Inside the entrance ceremony unfolds the truly low-level chatter. And the reactions of the people who heard its content became even more intense.

“Isn’t that Professor Maximilian Wilhelm?”

“Really? It’s actually him!”

“Who is he?”

“The hero of the empire, you idiot.”

“Ah~ That person. I didn’t know his real name because they only called him the hero.”

Who is he?

A person of unknown identity, who I had never heard of while doing WFS, was mentioned. True champions participate in the war, so nearly everyone knows them.

If I don’t know who a person is, the odds are they are not an amazing person.

At this academy, the only name mentioned at WFS was the president.

All others did not appear or I found out separately.

“But who is that guy?”

“Considering he was absent from the entrance ceremony, is it him?”

“Wasn’t that just an urban legend? Some crazy guy passes all the academy tests and then says ‘f*ck you’ in front of the professor.”

Already, it had become gossip that my actions from the interview had started to spread amongst the surrounding people.

Regardless, the man known as Maximilian guided me to the seat that was originally assigned to me.

“This is where you are assigned. Sit, Avraksas student.”

He tows me nearly to the seat that was assigned to me and throws me towards it. Rather than simply following him, it seemed more foolish, so I just stayed still.

This is truly a school attended by nobles. The worse my public opinion becomes, the more pressure there will be to expel me for political reasons.

Being disgraced by being regarded as classmates with these idiots will surely be rejected by higher-ups.

However, even though Maximilian’s tasks were complete, the atmosphere of chaos still lingered.

However, I am a person who has lived in the 21st century in South Korea. I know very well how to disappear from public scrutiny.

If you act out and only hallucinate, you’ll be a pathological liar. As soon as I found an effective method, I immediately acted.

“Hey… That crazy bastard over there is f*cking sleeping…!”

Interest wanes if bait is not thrown. Thus, to signal my disinterest, I closed my eyes and pretended to sleep.

One surefire way to kill public interest.

“Is he really crazy?”

“Is the rumor true that he cursed at the professor and his parents in the interview room?”

“…Probably not that extreme. He was at least polite to the professor who forcibly dragged him there.”

Though the responses were slightly different than I’d thought, it didn’t matter.

I’m going to be expelled from the academy. And I’ll go outside, making the disaster a little less threatening.

Now that I’ve finally become an adult and given freedom, I don’t know what would unfold if I wasted another four years at the academy.

[Enough chit-chat. Let’s get on with it.]

And so continued the president’s speech.

Fortunately, thanks to pretending to sleep, no other students approached me to chat.

The resumed speech was truly impressive. A desire to disgrace the honorable sight of the president, who I’ve never even seen in person, was filling my heart.

Stirring the anger of unseen people is also a talent, if it could be called that.

[…We hope that you will strive endlessly at Jerip Academy to become one of our proud citizens in the future. With this, we will conclude this admission ceremony.]

Fortunately, the headmaster’s speech ended before my patience ran out.

Thus concluded the admission ceremony.

[Ah, the admission test is just an entry level for the academy. The class allocation test will be conducted separately in three days, so everyone please prepare for that.]

They tell those who took the entrance exam they’ll have to take another test in three days.

Are they crazy?

Even high school seniors didn’t test like this.

If they tell me to test again three days after the exam period, whether they’re a professor or not, I feel certain that I could kill.

Fortunately, I didn’t have to worry about my grades. They wouldn’t affect my contract if they were not within my abilities.

‘A location exam… I’m admitted now, so first, I have to find out other information.’

I only looked up a few school rules in case I would be expelled during the interview but since I’m admitted now, I have to look deeper.

That would be a way for me to get kicked out.

There was a slim hope that they could keep an insolent man who often beat around the bush, but after the things that happened today, I would probably be forced out anyway.

What I can do to get expelled is…

‘Class placement test.’

The placement test; I am going to make a huge mess once more.

Unlike what happened in this interview, it will be incomparable.

Usually, the most important things for a scene are time and place.

—-

Jerip Academy.

According to the information I found, it is the best academy on the Byzantium continent.

Even nobles cannot be admitted unless they meet the admission test criteria.

Because of this, the ratio of commoners is higher than in other academies.

Surprisingly, even commoners are acknowledged as nobles upon graduation, and therefore, the discrimination against commoners is not really intense.

The fact that it is the only public academy in the Helium Empire has had a big impact.

From noble mtl dot com

‘No wonder. There are thousands of nobles in WFS, doesn’t that make sense?’

Every year, from tens to hundreds of nobles keep graduating.

That’s why there are so many of them, absurdly.

While studying and browsing books in the academy library, someone called me.

Turning my head, I saw a man who looked a bit awkward.

“… You think you’re too big as a duke, don’t you?”

And he picked an unwarranted fight.

I never bragged about being a duke.

I just blew my own horn.

Looking around a bit more, there were lots of people surrounding this man.

“Start with your explanation. Is it true that you disrespected a professor’s parents in the interview room?”

That is the truth.

So, I told them the truth.

“Yeah, but who are you? Do you know me?”

A stranger asked me these questions. Since I had answered him, I posed a question in return.

However, despite the basic courtesy of responding to questions, they shot me an aghast look instead.

“Heh… someone like you deserves a beating. Look well, everyone.”

In saying that, he suddenly spat out some third-rate villain’s line, commanding anyone within hearing range to watch.

I thought it was similar to how some guys in reality will stand up to bullies, which somehow make girls fall for them.

“I challenge you with my pure skills, disregarding the authority of a noble!”

With this, my opponent smirked a rotten smile.

Watching him stutter while minding the attention of his surrounding made it too obvious what he intended.

‘Middle-school syndrome has struck again.’

The average academy student is between the ages of 17 and 21.

There are fools getting struck with middle-school syndrome even after adulthood, so it’s quite possible at this age.

Later, they’ll think it lucky that their middle-school syndrome arrived at the age of 17. If it hits when they’re older, they’d be the laughing stock of society.

At this age, it’s normal to think something like this is cool.

But independent from that, a duel request?

As soon as I heard that, a good idea sprang up.

“I accept your duel request.”

Upon acceptance, his face wrinkled into a frown.

“You accept? Then, follow me to the dueling field-“

Kwanng!

But he never got a chance to finish his sentence.

My fist distorted his face at lightning speed, just when he had opened his mouth.

With the force of a knockout blow.

“What the?”

“What’s happening?”

“Is there a fight?”

Hearing a loud noise, everybody in the library started looking at us.

Their confusion only grew as the people by his side and the spectators began to narrate the truth.

“That crazy dude… he just started a fight right here.”

“Aren’t there penalties for fighting outside the dueling field?”

“What’s his deal?”

“So, he asked for a duel and then started it right here?”

No need to go to the dueling field.

I’m going to be chased out anyway.

So, I’m not holding back from doing anything stupid.

“Cough… cough…”

With his face bearing the impact of my punch, I looked at him and said,

“A duel is meant to contest our abilities. But if you believe you’re safe until the duel begins and let your guard down, it just means your skills are inferior to mine. A preemptive attack is a valid strategy in real battles.”

Like this, I confidently made him realize the harsh realities of life.

Even though the crowd around me looked at me as if I were crazy, I think I’m sane compared to the crazy theories of the past.

“Are you crazy? We spar to enhance basic strength, not to risk our lives!”

Is he a part-timer? He talks too much if he’s lost.

As I awaited the academy’s response, a sudden wave of murmurs escalated.

Looking in the direction of the noise, someone was making his way toward me through the crowd, almost like Moses parting the Red Sea.

“So, what the hell is this… an Abraxas freshman?”

A woman who was about half my height was standing there, her voice full of frustration.

And judging from the way she addressed me as a freshman, she appeared to be a professor.

Even a cursory glance revealed an atmosphere suggesting they might attempt to restrain me if I misbehave. I might get seriously beaten if I step out of line.

However, behaving appropriately could conceivably mean an even steeper fall into the abyss.

Let’s do the math here.

If I start a fight with the professor, it’s pretty clear I’m going to get beaten.

Although I do have one technique that could lead to victory over the professor. If I use it, though, there’s a chance the power balance could shift in my favor — and that’s not my goal.

Plus, if I’m suspected of using magic under abnormal conditions, I won’t be able to mount any kind of defense, so I must not fight all-out.

So, in the end, I have to resist using my full power in the fight.

Naturally, this will be insanely painful.

But what if I don’t fight? Worst case, I might have to attend the academy.

The pain will last a month at most.

The academy will last at least four years.

The conclusion is clear: it’s better to endure the pain.

With that, I swung my fist surrounded by oration at the woman, hoping she had noticed my vulnerability.

When I opened my eyes,

A ceiling I didn’t recognize was in view.

Could it be that I’m dead and in the afterlife?
