I Became the Hero Who Banished the Protagonist chapter 97

97. where you are (6)

I couldn’t hear the Holy Sword’s words. I looked down at the veil on my left hand and then looked ahead again. The fog seemed to be creating an illusion again. Marianne looked at me with a slightly worried look, but I smiled casually.

“It’s fine. now.”

Marianne hesitantly reached out to me, and put her hand on my finger. Marianne’s small, soft hand wrapped around the back of mine. I used more than half of Marianne’s mana to absorb my mana spread in the fog. Marianne looked a little tired.

“I will do it from now on.”

The Holy Sword awakens. I raised my aura by managing the moderately filled mana. A silver scribe rose above the veil of the sword. As if the fog was about to make a last-ditch effort, it created a wild form. This is the limit of the magical power that the fog can absorb from people. The process of converting life force into magical power is not something that can be done carelessly, no matter how catastrophic it is to destroy the world.

“You’ll have to mobilize all of your body’s mana.”

As I said that, I ferociously cycled my mana. Monsters that seemed to come out of nightmares crawled out in front of me. As he exhaled, mana burned and leaked out of his mouth as smoke.

“Just like that kind of welcome.”

I frowned and stepped forward. Out of habit, I tried to send Marianne back, but after seeing her expression, I gave her a seat next to me. Marianne looked at me. The new emotions in his eyes were surprise and joy. I smiled.

“Shall we go?”

Marianne nodded eagerly, following my steps as she slid beside me, flying the new model.

“Clean up quickly, starting with the small ones.”

“of course.”

The open lance moved forward, sweeping away the illusion. I set my goal while watching Marianne stir up the battlefield with destructive power comparable to mine.

“You have to be fair and square.”

I stretched the veil forward first. Auror stepped forward. The illusion disintegrates like a scarecrow. The fog regurgitated new illusions to fill the disappearing illusions. I swung my sword at the illusions pouring down like a tidal wave. The illusion disappeared as soon as the aura touched it.

There were few catalysts left to evoke bad memories in me. A blizzard pierced my skin. The scene of Evernode unfolded before me again.

“Are you going to protect everyone? Even looking at these people, do you think that way?!”

It sounded like wind blowing through a window. I thought it was the voice of the fog itself. The fog showed Evernode’s soldiers and knights dying and disappearing. I closed my eyes as I brushed past those nostalgic faces.

“There are so many people you couldn’t protect. There are many people who believe in your boast and move forward, but have not escaped the burden of meat shields.”

“thanks.”

“what?”

I approached the fallen soldier, bitten by a white wolf. That face remains vaguely in my memory. He is one of the 730 who died in the Battle of the Giants. I then looked at the soldier lying down next to him. He, too, was a face that remained in my memory.

“For giving me a chance to see these people’s faces again.”

I closed their eyes They will forever remain in my heart as my benefactors, but they will never be a burden. Even when you fall down, you wouldn’t want to be a burden.

“How dare you say such a shameless thing, hero!”

False accusation and resentment. I raised my knees and stared ahead. The soldiers of Evernode took the form of specters and tried to grab my ankles.

“Why couldn’t you protect us… .”

“Why did we have to die there… .”

I let them hold on to my ankles. If I could hear them, I wanted to hear them. If you had something to complain about, I wanted to hear it. But,

“But, looking at it, it’s disgusting.”

I said lowering my voice. The look of the soldiers was miserable. I stared at the corpses of the dead, torn by monsters and frozen by the wind. I gritted my teeth and stared into the distant sky as I spoke.

“How dare you use these people?”

I took a step Fog, even if I got it wrong, I got it wrong for a long time. Marianne next to me also held the holy spear with a firm expression. I pulled it up to its maximum and lifted the holy sword upwards. The ambiguous speculation only aroused needless anger.

I raised my mana even more. Enough to cover the blizzard with the wind generated by my magical power, to the extent that it tears this space apart.

“I’m sorry, but I can’t even laugh anymore. If I want to commemorate them and express regret, I will not collapse here, but I will run to the memorial stone in the north and shed tears.”

I thought of hundreds of names engraved there. Evernode, and the sacrifices of those who died there, can never become a plaything for the fog.

“why… Why! Why do I regret fighting the Kraken so much… .”

The fog borrowed someone’s mouth and said. I let out a small laugh you’ll never understand And if I don’t know the difference, the fog will never be able to drown me again.

“Well, do whatever you want. I’m not going to get over it though.”

The tree snapped and fell. The bodies of the soldiers turned into snow and disappeared along with the whirlpool. I lifted my head, feeling the terrifying presence again. The fourth disaster I haven’t seen in a long time, a giant stood there.

“I’ll come out like this until the end, that’s what I mean.”

I muttered and kicked off the ground and ran out. Marianne, who is in perfect sync with me, flew past me. The holy spear was tearing through the space with a bloody force.

“Bridge.”

When I spoke succinctly, Marianne nodded in understanding. Just like that time, I soared up into the sky and faced the giant. It was challenging. You could say it’s the strongest enemy I’ve ever fought.

Even so, it’s just one of the many monsters that fell to me.

The giant punched me, then staggered in place as if something had interrupted it. I twisted in the air, cut off the giant’s left arm, and landed on the cross section. The giant’s head creaked and returned to me. I grinned and started to hack.

Without a single wasted, continuous sword strikes should not be loaded with emotion. I danced the sword dance with only one thought to cut off the giant’s torso. Slice the arm and chop it from the shoulder to the waist. Marianne must have finished her work below, but the giant suddenly stumbled, lost her balance, and was about to fall forward.

“… It lacks reproducibility.”

I spit out that sentiment and raised my sword to the giant’s neck. As soon as the blade of the holy sword pierced the giant’s neck, the illusion began to completely collapse. There is nothing left. Except for the hazy mist that you can’t even see one step ahead.

“You are tenacious.”

Marianne let out an impression that she was fed up with. I nodded my head, sympathizing with her words. Maybe it’s because it’s a disaster that uses human memory and mind, and there were many similarities with human nature.

“Wouldn’t it be solved if I somehow got around?”

I said that and turned the veil around. If you use up all your mana, you might be able to shake this space itself. The fog began to shake like an earthquake. I increased my strength with the intention of gnawing away the fog little by little from within.

“If it’s not enough, I can help more.”

Marianne raised the holy spear. Well, it’s possible that a solution will come out before you even seek Marianne’s help.

snap.

Marianne thrust a holy spear into the ground and stuck it. Ah, when you say you’ll help, you don’t mean you’re going to give me more magic power. I laughed and looked at the cracks at Marianne’s feet. When Marianne’s sex organs joined my magic, the space shuddered as if it were about to collapse.

“… That’s great.”

Marianne blinked at my subconscious compliment, then nodded. Are you trying to give me a good answer? I watched the fog begin to crumble, thinking I should give it a compliment more often. Like a building collapsing, the fog shatters and falls to the floor.

“It’s starting to change shape.”

Marianne muttered nervously. The fog swirled, gathered, and dispersed repeatedly. It was as if he was about to make a last resort. The mist gathered like a cloud of dust and was trying to create a shape. It was exactly the same shape as a person.

“Right… That’s what happened to you.”

The fog formed in the shape of a man said so. It seemed as if he was trying to draw out all of his body’s mana. Did you say that even earthworms wriggle if you step on them? I sharpened my senses even more so as not to be caught off guard. Right before taking one’s own life was the most dangerous law.

“yes. Somehow I thought it was strange.”

With a chuckle, the mist was trying to take someone’s shape. I watched the changing fog with a sullen expression. Do I need to wait for a transformation? I’m not a kind magical girl villain. I took the veil to slash it before the fog completely changed its shape.

“Uh huh.”

The fog regained its composure and raised its arm to block my attack. I frowned and looked at the mist. It wasn’t because the fog blocked my attack. It was because the voice of the fog was very familiar.

“I haven’t completely changed yet.”

Mist mocked me with a voice full of laughter. I hardened my face as I looked at the finished fog. The fog had changed to Illroy’s figure. Marianne looked at the mist with an expression of incomprehension.

“Isn’t this face a face you’ve seen a lot?”

The fog’s face began to change very little. From Illroy to someone else again, I froze as I watched the fog change.

“it’s not like that? ■■■.”

I couldn’t read the mouth of the fog. And, I couldn’t hear the words of the fog. But at the end of it, there was a man who looked like Illroy but a little different. Age is around mid-twenties. A typical Korean face. I recognized the figure and exhaled like a scream.

‘grow.

I froze as our eyes met as if we were facing a mirror.

“It was pretty hard to figure out that secret. I had to break through after all. I should have spent most of my magic breaking through that security. It’s funny to have to struggle against only one human… .”

‘I’ came closer to me with a smile. I could only hope that Marianne wouldn’t see it, but her eyes were already on me. The fog must have noticed her gaze, and he opened his mouth with an eerie smile on his lips.

“Now, look closely, human over there. this is it… .”

hooked

It was then. Someone pierced the neck of the mist that turned into ‘me’. Surprised, I raised my head to face the man who had pierced the fog. The smile of the fog, which was trying to look at the same place as me, soon turned into astonishment.

“all… you are.”

“I’d better stop talking nonsense, remnants of evil spirits.”

Hair that shines like silver. Blood red eyes. And, the crown on her head. The holy sword in the image suddenly appeared and turned its head towards me.

“I tried to watch it until the end, but I couldn’t just watch it.”

For some reason, the expression on his face was deeply saddened. The Holy Sword apologized to me in that beautiful voice and opened the door.

“I’m sorry, Illroy. do not forgive me.”

“that is… What are you talking about.”

As I stammered, the Holy Sword shook its head with a bitter smile. My head hurt like it would break. I staggered in place and looked into those red eyes.

“Do you remember what I told you before entering the fog?”

“… No matter what, I am me?”

“yes. Just remember that.”

My head, which was about to get dizzy at the words of the holy sword, was cleared at once. After confirming that my expression had calmed down, the holy sword glared at the mist that had turned into ‘me’ with sharp eyes like a well-forged knife.

“… What are you, no. That person… .”

“Shut that mouth. catch it If I hadn’t stabbed you anyway, you’d be dead before long.”

The fog stared at the holy sword with fear-stricken eyes. The holy sword didn’t give the fog a respite to talk, and cut the sword as it was. I lost my strength and looked at the fog that gradually began to disappear, and beyond that, the figure of the holy sword fading together.

“[Good work, Illroy. Your colleague is sleeping over there, so take care of it.]”

Those last words, as always, echoed in my head. I came to my senses and approached Marianne lying behind me.

“Marianne.”

When I called out to support her, Marianne slowly raised her head and looked around. Before we knew it, we were sitting side by side at the back of the Vatican.

“I made it… is it?”

I nodded. The fog has completely lifted. It seemed to have completely disappeared.

Marianne and I sat there for a while, watching the falling snow. Marianne held my hand tightly, and I held her hand, feeling its warmth. At that hand gesture that seemed not to be missed, I turned my head and smiled.

“Don’t go.”

I nodded. No matter what I just saw, my heart that Marianne has fixed will not change.

“yes.”

“Stay with me.”

I nodded.

It was early morning. Powder snow was slowly falling from the sky.

I really hate enemy types that get into people’s heads and try to break them in order to defeat them.

NGL I didnt like this Fog/Mist arc that much. I hate those types of enemies that try to win by getting in people’s heads in order to break them. Glad it seems to be over (I think?)
