Episode 157 A completely unexpected secret

As I was dazing in my room, it was almost 8pm.

I jumped up from the bed.

Just a little longer and you will know the truth.

When I thought of that, my heart suddenly began to beat violently.

“Whoa.”

Let’s calm down.

Rather, in times like these, people should be calmer.

I took a few deep breaths and my heart rate became stable again.

As I was about to head to the door, I felt the presence of someone behind me. Now, even without looking back, I could tell it was Ilaina.

“Are you going to have an important conversation with His Majesty?”

“As expected, you were all listening.”

“Because I have to protect the secretary at all times.”

“… ….”

After thinking for a moment, I opened my mouth again.

“Do you want to listen to the story now?”

“If you want, I won’t listen.”

“Please do that.”

“Yes.”

Ilayna’s presence disappeared again.

I headed straight to the room where Cecilia was staying. When I knocked, I heard her voice from inside.

“Is it Luke?”

“Yes. Your majesty.”

Then she gave permission for Cecilia to come in. I carefully opened the door and went inside.

Cecilia slowly looked at me from top to bottom while sitting in an armchair.

“This day has finally arrived.”

“I have been waiting for this day.”

“… ….”

Cecilia didn’t say anything.

All she did was let out a heavy sigh.

Finally, she grabbed the armrests of the armchair and slowly raised her body.

“Is your father in the office now?”

“Probably so.”

“Please guide me.”

I bowed and answered. Then, I moved my steps to match her stride.

The office was just a short distance to the left from here, so I arrived quickly.

“Father! “Are you inside?”

I banged on the door and shouted, and immediately a response came back from inside.

“Why are you knocking on the door so hard at this time of night!”

“I want to talk about something important!”

After shouting that at the door, she turned her head towards Cecilia. She was looking this way with her curious eyes.

“It feels new every time I see this side of you.”

“You should treat them comfortably because they are family.”

“It’s family… ….”

Cecilia looked thoughtful.

Now that I think about it, their family life is quite bad, unlike my family’s.

At that time, I heard my father shouting toward the door.

“If you’re going to come in, come in quickly, you bastard!”

“Your Majesty. “Let’s go together.”

I opened the door and let Cecilia in first.

Then, a crackling noise rang out from inside.

It must have been because she was so startled by Cecilia that she jumped up and her chair fell behind her.

When I checked inside, my expectations were correct.

As a bonus, I was able to see an interesting scene where my father was very embarrassed.

“Your Majesty. At this time…….”

“Luke said he wants to know now.”

“What do you mean?”

Instead of answering, Cecilia looked around her office. She then went and sat down on the empty sofa.

“Can I sit here?”

That was the head table where my father sat when entertaining his guests.

“Of course!”

My father answered in a loud voice.

In this world, it is common sense that the emperor holds the head of honor.

Then my father came up to me and poked me in the side.

Because he stabbed me with that massive finger, I had no choice but to bend my body into an L shape.

“You bastard. “I should have told you in advance that His Majesty was coming.”

“Father didn’t ask.”

I talked back even with my arms wrapped around my waist. Then, when he came back, his father gave him a reproachful look.

“You guys get along really well.”

“No, Your Majesty.”

I denied it right away, but Cecilia just smiled, raising the corners of her mouth.

“I want you both to just sit down.”

“Ah! “I apologize, Your Majesty.”

“I apologize.”

Her father and I bowed towards her at the same time this time.

After that, we sat down on the sofas on each side.

“… ….”

Silence quickly fell between us.

“Your Majesty. “I will prepare something to drink.”

“Thank you for doing so.”

Her father immediately called her maid and instructed her to bring her something to drink. The maid soon prepared black tea for the three of us to drink.

“I think it’s time to let Luke know.”

After taking a sip of black tea, Cecilia got her luck.

She smiled bitterly as her father gave her a puzzled expression.

“I told this to Luke the other day. That you saved me from danger in the past.”

“Ah! “Is that what you were talking about?”

“Yes.”

Looking at his father, he seemed to have noticed what he was trying to say.

Cecilia turned her head towards me this time.

“I ask you again. What you are wondering is, is my relationship with your father right?”

“Yes. Your majesty.”

I answered immediately without the slightest hesitation.

Cecilia gave her head a heavy nod. Then, with her eyes gently closed, she let out a light breath.

“Son.”

“Why?”

“Prepare your mind.”

Why are you suddenly speaking so solemnly?

What a shocking secret is hidden…….

As she was thinking about it, Cecilia opened her eyes again.

“Luke.”

“Yes, Your Majesty.”

“If I told you that your family and I are related, would you believe it?”

“… ….”

…… What did I hear?

I was so dazed that I couldn’t say anything.

Her eyes full of red stared at me.

I could see the complex state of mind in her eyes.

I wasn’t sure, but…… Should I say that it felt like that kind of look?

From noble mtl dot com

“That…… Really?”

“… ….”

Cecilia didn’t make any sound. All she did was nod her head once in the affirmative.

“Huh… ….”

It felt like the threads in her head had become tangled and jumbled.

This is something I never imagined…….

I could hear my father clearing his throat from the other side. However, I had the illusion that the sound was coming from somewhere far away.

In my head, only the word ‘relatives’ that Cecilia had mentioned kept ringing around.

“Luke.”

At Cecilia’s call, I suddenly regained my sanity.

“Yes, Your Majesty.”

“To be precise, it is not a direct descendant, but a collateral descendant.”

“Your Majesty… ….”

“I know it’s hard to accept. That’s why I didn’t want to talk about it for a while.”

I looked at Cecilia’s expression and was dumbfounded.

Because he was stiffening his expression as if he was nervous in front of me.

That is Cecilia, who occupies the highest position in the empire.

“Your Majesty. Can I tell your son about the rest instead?”

His father, who had been silent, opened his mouth.

Cecilia looked at my father for a moment and then slightly moved her head.

“Her Majesty Empress Olivia Campbell Eckhart is 6th cousin to my family. Originally, she was a writer after he came to Hopelion.”

“… ….”

Honestly, I don’t know what to say.

This fact came as a shock to me.

There’s no way the two people in front of you would lie to me about something like this.

‘I can’t be left blank like this.’

This is the truth I wanted to know. So you have to accept this.

“However, I had almost no contact with Marquis Hopelion. He was like a distant relative. The only news I learned was that His Majesty the Emperor of Holland had welcomed His Majesty Empress Olivia Sun as her empress. And then… ….”

His father interrupted him there and turned his gaze towards Cecilia.

“Her Majesty Cecilia, who was the princess at the time, was in danger, so Her Majesty the late Empress sent me a message asking for help. That’s why I rushed to the Karl Reis Islands in a month to save her majesty.”

“It was like that.”

Cecilia nodded her head in a low voice.

“Then Her Majesty also found out about the fact then?”

“Yes.”

“Aha… ….”

After the low exclamation I made, a heavy silence fell in the office.

And my mind became complicated in many ways.

Cecilia and I are 8th cousins?

Then, this means that she is not only the empress, but also her blood relative… ….

Even though we are 8th cousins, the distance is quite far.

Even so, the shock did not lessen.

‘What should I do…? ….’

While I was thinking, another question suddenly arose.

The father was Empress Sun and her relative, and even rescued the kidnapped princess. But why is he content with just living as a baron and running a small estate?

“Father. “I have another question.”

“What is this?”

“Why are we still barons? With that level of achievement, he could have been given a higher status…….”

Then my father suddenly laughed loudly.

Cecilia and I looked at our father with puzzled eyes.

“Inseok. Do you know that the higher you go, the more responsibility comes with it?”

“Of course.”

“I hated being swayed by politics and fighting! “My enemies were the pirates and bandits who preyed on us!”

When I listened to my father’s voice, I could feel that he was truly proud.

If that were the case, I had nothing more to say.

It is already a thing of the past.

“Thanks to your hard work, the empire is now enjoying peace and prosperity. “I really owe you a lot of grace.”

When Cecilia expressed her sincere gratitude, her father waved his hand, saying he was only doing the obvious.

Still, the atmosphere became much lighter as the reason why my father maintained his status as a baron was revealed.

“Luke. “Do you have any more questions?”

“This is enough for now, Your Majesty.”

“I see… ….”

Cecilia trailed off as she let out a soft sigh.

“I believe that even if she knew the truth, my relationship with you would not change.”

“Of course.”

I got up from her seat and bowed towards her.

But inside she thought the opposite.

Someday, there will definitely be a change in our relationship.

Stupidest chapter in the whole novel. He is shocked they are somewhere between 6th and 8th cousins. Bruh, your nobles. ALL European nobles were at least that closely related, if not much closer. Just dumb and ahistoric.
