I Was Summoned To Be Sold as a Son-in-Law chapter 1

I Was Summoned To Be Sold as a Son-in-Law 1

1 – Q&A

For about 10 minutes, a middle-aged man had been explaining something.

My tea was almost finished.

That was because the man’s story was so absorbing, it left me parched.

In short, the family that had summoned me was of a Viscount rank, and recently they had been struggling.

So, they planned to sell their most eligible bachelor to the most powerful Duke’s family in the country.

However, they only had one heir, hence why they had summoned another.

And apparently, that was me.

The more I listened, the more ridiculous it all seemed.

Just because of that, they had decided to determine the life of a person who had no relation to them.

“…the Tyler Duke’s family is known for their outstanding lineage of knights, and the next heir, Beatrice, is known to be the most talented of them all…”

“Excuse me”

I raised my hand to stop the middle-aged man who was still going on with his explanation.

“So, the bottom line is, you summoned me without considering my life because you wanted to save your family?”

I shot back at him with a slightly agitated tone.

“We apologize for that, our Anderson Viscount family will give you the highest treatment, and the Duke’s family will naturally…”

“No. Please send me back. I absolutely will not obey your orders.”

I firmly cut off his words.

The man, who had neatly combed black hair and a cold-looking demeanor, showed a slightly taken aback look at that moment.

“Do you happen to have a family already?”

“No.”

“Then, are you promised to be married to someone?”

“No, I’m not.”

“So you’re saying this because you have some other regrets? If you have any, let me know. I will try my best to grant something similar.”

“I don’t really have any regrets.”

That’s right. I did feel sorry for suddenly disappearing from my parents, but I had no personal regrets.

I don’t have a girlfriend, only one or two friends, and even they have been busy and neglected recently.

Even if I went back, it’s just a life of hard work at a busy company, and watching YouTube before falling asleep when I come home.

But still, the reason I decided to go back was simply because I was pissed at these dudes.

He has the audacity to destroy a person’s life with such a reckless act.

What would his plan be if he is not a rogue like me but a married man with a real family?

That’s why my rebellious nature flips the switch inside me.

“Why would I go back when there is no regret?”

“It’s because you guys insisted.”

As I folded my arms and wore an angry expression, the old man next to the middle-aged man suddenly started to smile warmly.

“hehehe.. what a brazen boy.”

“My great uncle.”

For a moment, I doubted my ears.

Great uncle?

The man looked to be well into his forties and was his great uncle?

Then, how old exactly is this old man?

The old man crossed the table and approached me.

Upon closer look, even in his old age, his stride was vigorous and his posture was upright.

“I didn’t want to use this method. But I guess there’s no choice, hehehe.”

The old man’s hand was wrapped in a purple hue and he extended it towards me.

What was he trying to do? Mind control? Or torture?

Regardless, I instinctively felt a severe crisis approaching me.

I quickly jumped off the chair and fell flat on the ground, crying out.

“I really want to do it! Just give me the order!”

The law of the fist was more terrifying than the law.

Moreover, the law of this world will not be the same as in Korea.

If they are of a noble house, their actions could become law.

What kind of crazy act did I commit just now?

Still, I must commit one more crazy act.

Because I always try to take advantage in any situation to the extreme.

With my head slightly lifted from the ground, I let out a miserable laugh and said,

“You must keep your promise that you will treat me well hahahahaha.”

“Of course, hehehe.”

The old man retracted the purple light from his hand and returned to his seat.

As I discreetly took a seat, the middle-aged man resumed our conversation.

“Ahem. Anyway, it seems you must become the husband of Lady Beatrice from the House of Tailor.”

“I… Can I ask a few questions?”

I asked hesitantly, my demeanor noticeably subdued compared to earlier.

Seeing the man’s hand engulfed in an ominous light, any sane person would have been intimidated.

“Of course. Feel free to ask.”

The middle-aged man smiled kindly, encouraging me to ask.

“If you wanted a son, couldn’t you have adopted from a lower nobility? Why go through the hassle of summoning one from another world?”

This had been bothering me throughout our conversation.

There are many marquises and counts why not choose from them?

“That has to do with the uniqueness of our family. What colour do you suppose my hair is?”

“It’s black.”

“That’s right. This black hair is a trait found exclusively within our family across the continent.”

“Couldn’t you dye it or something? There is magic, right?”

“Dyeing with magic is possible, indeed. But no grand mage has been able to replicate our pure black hair. Not to mention, non-magical dyeing is easily noticeable.”

Hmmm… the reason for the summon was somewhat understandable now.

“Alright, onto my second question. You said I’m to marry into the family, does that mean I’ll be the next head of the family?”

From our conversation, it seemed I was being drafted as a son-in-law to be groomed for leadership. Hence, my chances of becoming the next family head seemed high.

However, the middle-aged man in front of me looked puzzled, as if I had said something absurd.

“Why would you be the head? Lady Beatrice is obviously the next in line. Didn’t I mention it earlier?”

Wait, aren’t son-in-laws usually groomed to be the next family head?

Does this mean this world is matriarchal?

Then who is this middle-aged man? He certainly gives off an air of authority.

“Does that mean you, Mr. Anderson, are not the family head either?”

“Ah, our family is quite unique. I would guess we are the only ones where the male inherits the title.”

“Is this world a matriarchal society?”

“Matriarchy, hm. We don’t have that term, but if I had to put it into words, I suppose it is. Typically, women are the leaders and men take care of the home.”

Seems like I’ve landed in a world where gender roles are reversed.

Then does that mean I’ll be a duchess, in a sense?

How disgusting.

Why does this lineage have so many peculiarities? Their hair is always jet black and only men continue the lineage.

“May I ask why only men continue the lineage of the Anderson family?”

“We are of a sorcerer lineage who carry the blood of the Black Dragon. Every few generations, one who intensely inherits the dragon’s blood is born. It’s always a man.”

So, it’s the men who maintain the lineage to preserve that blood.

I understood to a certain extent. In a world where power is law, such would be expected.

“Our great-grandfather here is the present day sorcerer.”

The middle-aged man pointed at an old man as he spoke.

So that’s why he has survived to his age.

“Are there other lineages besides the Black Dragon?”

“Yes. There are dragon bloodlines of various colors. There are lineages like ours that maintain the bloodline, and those that simply continue as they are. Perhaps there are even ones that have been severed.”

Then a question suddenly arose.

“Is it okay to let such a bloodline out freely? Of course, I’m not a real dragon lineage, but from an external point of view.”

If a lineage is maintaining a bloodline, they wouldn’t just carelessly let it out into the world.

If a sorcerer suddenly appeared from another family, the value of the Anderson family would decline.

“Correct. However, we had to act now even if it means giving up the monopoly over the bloodline.”

“You mean without actually giving up the monopoly.”

“Correct. Therefore, we had to ensure the summoning was successful.”

“Alright, I understand. I have one last question.”

“Sure.”

“How old is His Highness?”

“I have heard that he’ll turn seventeen this year. Since he hasn’t had his birthday yet, I suppose he is still sixteen.”

“What!?”

This is crazy. I just turned thirty, so is there a 14-year age gap?

No, since he mentioned his birthday, it must be calculated in years.

Since my birthday hasn’t passed yet… subtract two that’s still a 12-year difference.

He’s a thief of the level I’ve only seen in the media.

“Um…. For reference, I am twenty-eight years old. Is this age difference okay?”

The middle-aged man’s eyes widened slightly in surprise.

“You look younger than I thought. But that’s fine. After all, your existence itself is a lie, so we could make your age twenty-two.”

“Will I be accepted?”

“It’s fine. You look just right at the age of 22.”

Is it because Westerners get old quickly?

Anyway, it looks like I’m going to get married for sure.

Could a guy who has never really dated understand a woman’s heart and satisfy her?

Or before that, should I worry about adapting in a world where gender roles are reversed?

The age difference is also a concern. She’s almost like my niece, so is that going to be okay…?

When I start thinking about the other party in this way, I itch to ask one more question.

One deep question should be okay, right?

“Um… Can I ask one final question?”

“Of course.”

The question that must be asked when a woman is introduced, from ancient times.

“Is she pretty?”
