Incompatible Interspecies Wives chapter 112

112 - The Approaching Shadow (2)

112 – The Approaching Shadow (2)

While the campsite was set up, I lay down on the wide plain and enjoyed a rest.

“…”

When I am resting like this, my mind always feels calm.

Maybe it’s a long-established way to relax.

It was a method I avoided for a long time because it reminded me of Xian.

I tried not to think about it.

If I consciously thought of Shien, I turned my thoughts away.

Perhaps the reason I still think of her is because of the way we broke up.

Of course, affection is affection, memories are memories, and exchanges are also feelings… But it’s a relationship that was forcibly ripped off, and the wounds are messy and still can’t get it right.

I had told Adam-hyung before, but it was a complex pain.

There was also a sense of shame at not being able to protect the person I loved at the time.

It seemed that after that, he wielded violence in the slums because of that sense of shame.

“…”

Because I’m not as smart as Adam hyung, it seemed like I was finally establishing my mind.

Well, it might be an excuse to leave everything.

Maybe it’s rationalizing why I still haven’t forgotten Xian.

Because our relationship at the time was so deep that it is hard to explain in words.

Because there was nothing more precious to me who was born with nothing.

I let out a short sigh.

I tried not to think about it, but I am thinking of the same problem again.

I shook my head and tried to regain my composure.

Ner’s fateful opponent.

Arwin’s death prayer.

Situation of Sien.

I tried not to recall everything.

Once again, everything is a matter of the past.

Ner married me, Arwin convinced me that he might have thought that way, and Shien left me.

These were problems I no longer had to hold on to.

I only need to live in the present.

****

As I lay there, I heard someone approaching.

I didn’t think to react because it was a sound I vaguely heard in my dream.

-Fluffy.

In a half-conscious situation, someone sits next to you.

The scent of her wafting through. With a scent that resembles the smell of grass, you quickly recognize that the other person is Arwin.

“… Ha.”

As soon as she sat down beside her, she let out a short sigh.

Is it because my body is tired from the previous situation?

Even with Arwyn’s presence, my consciousness was about to blink.

-Talk.

But Arwin’s touch raises my sanity again.

She was touching me, putting her finger on her cheek.

“…”

She kept her silence like that and slowly lay down next to her.

That’s how it sounded.

As if to prove that my prediction was not wrong, Arwin lies on my arm.

“…Freedom is nice, Berg.”

She whispered.

It was a message to me, but it also sounded like talking to myself.

Are you talking to me who thought I was asleep?

I also deeply sympathized with those words and took a more comfortable rest.

I feel like my heart is being strengthened by her presence.

Since she seems to be feeling comfortable now, maybe she’s doing what I have to do as well.

“Maybe it’s because of you, that I feel this way.”

There was a strange sadness in Arwin’s voice.

The more I did, the clearer my consciousness became.

I didn’t feel like going back to sleep.

What conversation did she have with Gail that made her suddenly like this?

“I’ve been wishing for the freedom my whole life… but would I have felt this way if I had been alone?”

Arwin giggled as if trying to cheer me up. Even so, the sadness in her voice could not be erased.

“You know what, Berg? There were many things I wanted to see and many places I wanted to visit. I believed that everything would become memories once I got out of the Celebrien estate. However…”

Arwin speaks dejectedly.

“…But why is there only you in my memories so far?”

Her words twitched.

“More than the freedom I’ve been waiting for all my life, you, whom I never expected to meet, remain in my heart more deeply. Even when I was swimming in the sea. Even on days when it rained together. Even the time to learn the bow…Only you are clear in my memory.”

Alwin whispered.

I felt strangely grateful for her words.

I feel that the relationship is getting closer.

Wouldn’t it be okay if we continued like this?

“…So you should be happy…”

At that moment, Arwin’s shoulders start to tremble.

I opened my eyes slowly.

Arwin closed her eyes… She was crying.

“…Berg.”

She said.

“Can you let me go?”

“…………”

The accident hardens for a while.

Her arm, which she tried to reach to comfort Arwin, stops.

A very sudden story for me.

But at the same time, a story that has been in Arwin’s heart for a long time.

“…Before you get better… Before you get sicker after you die…”

The cold Arwin sheds tears.

With those words, it became difficult for me to repeat the same words as before.

Don’t look too far.

To enjoy the time we have.

Is getting close to her a wound for her?

I wanted her to live comfortably with her memories of me.

I was just trying to bridge the gap between us.

Can’t elves and humans get close?

“…”

I moved my frozen hand.

Embracing Arwin.

She startled and flinched in my arms.

“Ah…! Hey, you’re up-“

“-Can’t you really?”

I asked.

There was pain that I felt even as I spit out the question.

At times like this, I feel how much heart I allowed.

I think the smile I shared with Arwin was giving me strength.

“…Really not, Arwin?”

I pulled her head and held her tightly.

“…”

Arwin slowly hardened in her arms.

I buried her head in my arms.

I know.

Maybe it’s a selfish story.

However, in the realm of emotion, there are things that cannot be explained with reason.

Should I not even start because I am afraid of parting?

…Probably not.

It hurt to break up with Xian, but one fact was clearer than anything else.

The time I spent with her was the greatest happiness for me.

Because of the pain of parting, I didn’t want to make all those memories a thing of the past.

It was the same with Arwin.

She is my wife… Wouldn’t it be right for her to live happily ever after?

Wouldn’t it be possible to draw a more heartbreaking future than the memories we’ve accumulated so far?

Even so, I couldn’t force my wishes.

It might be because Ner heard her wish once.

At the time, how desperately did he wish for something like that?

I am also at a crossroads of choice.

That was a serious question.

“Answer me, Arwin.”

“…Neither…I don’t know either.”

Said Arwin, suppressing her tears. An anxious mind comes through.

“…I don’t know what to do. I’m so confused, Berg…”

I hugged her even more.

I have nothing more to say.

It wasn’t my specialty to spit out words like Adam hyung.

Instead, she just expressed her feelings, which she normally did not.

He held her in her arms and stroked her hair.

Arwin didn’t push me away.

“…I don’t think I can let you go.”

I said bitterly.

This part was not my area of choice.

She had to stay by our side even for the sake of the Red Flame Team.

…Of course, I also had my wish.

At that, Arwin laughed weakly.

“…I wonder if that’s the case.”

Since she said this to me while I was sleeping, I don’t think she really hoped for a situation where she would let go.

I jump on the bandwagon on her difficult laugh.

I tried to change the atmosphere again.

“As I said last time, let’s not worry about the future.”

“…”

“If you worry, you can’t enjoy the things you enjoy.”

“…”

“Letting go now because I’m afraid of getting sick… I think it’s a stupid choice.”

“…”

“And an arranged breakup would be much better than an abrupt breakup. It might be okay if you prepare enough. “

“…For example…?”

I rolled over with Arwyn in my arms.

Arwin naturally lays down on top of my body.

I looked at the white clouds floating in the blue sky.

“…It would be better than breaking up in death. In the mercenary corps, I see countless farewells like that.”

“That’s not it, Berg. How do I prepare for a breakup?”

I laughed lightly.

“Wouldn’t it be okay after enjoying everything you can enjoy until you get tired of it? Wouldn’t it be okay after a sufficiently satisfying life?”

“…Do you have enough time?”

“It’s 60 years, what are you worried about?”

“…I am an elf. I mean, it’s a short time.”

“Short, long. We’ve only been together for a few months, but we’ve become so close.”

“…”

“There is hundreds of times more time left than the time we spent together until now. Is this short?”

“…”

Arwin shut his mouth in anguish.

I didn’t force her to choose any more.

As I said, we had a lot of time left.

In the future, she will have to choose slowly.

Will you go to the next level with me, or will you stop here?

As I brushed her hair, her long ears kept touching the tips of her fingers.

Arwin’s ears kept trembling up and down at the touch.

I am still waiting for her promise.

Still married, she hadn’t made a covenant.

She

She was the one who said she would wait, and she would make a covenant when she could truly speak.

“…I will try until I hear your covenant.”

“…”

I took a deep breath and said.

If I wanted her sincerity, I had to show her sincerity too.

“Because your presence is giving me strength.”

“Yes…?”

“I feel it often lately.”

It feels like the painful wounds are being blunted by her and Ner.

I was less shaken by provocations towards me, and it seemed that my anxious mind was getting stronger.

“I hope it stays like this forever.”

“…What did I do…”

“Just being by your side gives me strength.”

I try to force myself.

I like her. There is also enough intention to draw the future.

I hope she does too.

“…Think about it, Arwin.”

That’s how I ended up.

Arwin also nodded slowly.

From noble mtl dot com

“Never stop… Uh. That, vice-captain! Please eat!”

Baran is calling me from far away.

I said to Arwin.

“…Let’s go.”

“…”

Arwin did not answer. It just stood there with its head resting on my chest.

“…Let’s go.”

– Kkuk.

I pressed her side playfully.

Arwin, who had been stopped, jumped up in amazement.

“Be, Berg…!”

I giggled and straightened my upper body.

Ar Window naturally escapes from her arms.

We got up from our seats shaking our bodies like that.

“…”

I look back and see a person looking down at me from the top of a hill.

Ner.

She looked at us with a hard expression…And turned away.

I let out a sigh of laughter.

“…Ha ha.”

The two wives, who started to squeak at some point, seemed to have to manage somehow.

****

Felix made a decision.

“…Let’s prepare to go out, now.”

Akran let out a quiet voice.

“…This mission must be difficult.”

“I have no time to tarry here any longer. It will be possible because the troops were also gathered somehow.”

Felix didn’t sit still for a while either.

In order to persuade his sons to participate in the succession fight, he ran with his feet to suppress his fiery personality and stubbornness.

I immediately stopped fighting and asked for help.

However, the sons were skeptical because it was unknown how many soldiers on their side would die in the war.

After the war, depending on the troops you have, the battle for succession could have been divided.

Fortunately though, Felix managed to come to an agreement.

We were promised constant support from everyone.

Felix shook his head, as if he was tired of this fight.

“…Let’s finish it quickly and leave. I don’t know how many days I’ve been here already.”

Akran sighed again.

“War isn’t just about troops. Invisible factors also have a great influence. Whether it’s momentum or bonds…”

Even so, as if Akran knew that there was no other way, he eventually cut off his words.

Actually, there were many moments where it seemed more hopeless than this.

In the midst of this, Felix ordered us to go, so everyone just followed.

Sylprien speaks to Akran, who looks worried.

“But don’t worry. If there really is a big problem, I’ll send Gail my bird right away.”

“What difference does sending it make?”

“Because you are nearby. He will come to help soon.”

Akran is happy.

“Master is nearby?”

“I heard you are heading to the dwarven village of Sarik?”

“…I am glad to hear from you. Yes, you can ask Master’s help if you have to.”

While checking the reactions of his colleagues, Felix asked the saintess one last time.

“Saintess, what do you think?”

The opinion of her saintess was always one.

“…I don’t want to delay any more.”

The more you can see the end, the more your mind goes ahead.

“Let’s end the war quickly… before…”

Everyone nodded at the saintess’ reaction.

Felix says.

“Yes. Then let’s go.”

  1. huehue huehue says:

Ner was the first to say I love you, but Arwin is the first to confess while Berg is awake (although unintentional). Ner you better step up 🤣🤭

  2. zuc says:

Between Arwin and Ner I choose Ner. At least Ner will only love him, unlike Arwin who can be convinced by another elf or when the mc dies.

  3. Zzz says:

I wish ner had more than 50iq in her disposal
I am all for that fluffy tail

  4. Zen says:

Shien was just a young girl back then… What can we expect things happen and MC is also at times overly obsessed with her.. i am not Shien is right but rather cut her some slack.. mistakes happen when you are young and especially given the choice saving the whole world at an young age where her own lover is living… we need a world to have a future together to begin with… Church is also manipulating behind the scenes so ya..

  5. k says:

Arwin is way ahead Ner now since she speak her own mind honestly with Berg

  6. Crosz says:

I do agree with Arwin’s circumstances. Shien on the other hand, what she did back then was quite unreasonable especially the way she said those words back then which left a deep scar to mc. I mean sure she did it because she wants to protect him, still she could say it in a way that berg will smhw hopes that there’s still a chance between them, not by shattering all his hopes whatsoever. So tbh Shien and Ner don’t really deserve mc in opinion.

  7. Arwin best girl. Honestly it’s not like her circumstances are wrong. You can even say Berg is being selfish here but there is no one to blame

Shien is second. Ner is trying hard to make herself disliked…
