Incompatible Interspecies Wives chapter 200

200 - Ner's Choice (4)

200 – Ner’s Choice (4)

-Drip, drop…

Cold tears dampened my face.

Her face reflected in the moonlight was immersed in sadness.

“You’re worried about me…!! You love me…!! Why are you pushing me away like this!!”

“…Ner.”

His expression broke. It was probably because he found her uninjured, and she was more vehemently knocking his heart than ever before.

Ner tightly grabbed my collar.

Her lips overlapped mine.

Her sharp canines touched my teeth.

Without a moment to collect myself, she pulled away and shouted at me.

“If you were going to worry about me like this…!”

-Smack!

Again, she was kissing me.

“If you were going to chase after me when I disappeared…!”

-Smack!

“If you didn’t want to push me away…!”

She kissed me more intensely than ever before.

Unlike her hand, her touch was warm.

Her long tongue invaded my mouth.

Longing for love, Ner, who was shedding tears, continued the long kiss.

“Ha… ha…”

She quickly pulled away and wiped off the saliva on her lips.

“Tell me quickly, Berg… !”

She insists.

“Quickly… say you love me… speak your heart…”

“…”

“Why did you show up if you weren’t worried… why did you follow me if I was so annoying…”

-Thud.

She abruptly rested her elbow next to my face.

Our noses were almost touching.

“My husband… my love… my partner…”

“…”

“I still… the time with you… it was the most glittering moment in my life…”

-Drip drop.

Her tears just keep representing her true feelings.

“Because of you…sob…I found a reason to live…”

Tears from her eyes flowed down onto mine.

It creates an illusion as if I, too, was shedding tears.

“But because you won’t look at me now…I…feel like I’m dying, Berg…I can’t stand it anymore…”

She wrapped her arms around my neck and hugged me tight.

“It’s not saying not to love Cien…Just asking to share a little love…Why can’t that happen…why…”

I couldn’t muster the strength to sit up.

Lying on top of me, Ner’s weight felt more familiar than ever.

It was enough to revive even the comfort we used to feel when we shared a bed in the past.

Countless emotions churned inside me.

I hesitantly opened my lips.

“…All I could see was another road that leads to parting.”

“Sob…sniffle…”

“I married Cien…How can I possibly accept you?”

As if enraged by my words, Ner sat up and shouted at me.

“Sob…! In the past…! You did it just fine!! You loved both me and Arwin at the same time!!”

“But now it’s forbidden by law!”

“Since when did you ever care about something like that?!”

Ner screamed at the top of her lungs.

It was the same thing Cien had said.

Since when did you care about something like the law?

Looking back, even when living in the slums…when fighting with other mercenaries, when cutting through soldiers of the Jackson family, when killing thieves infiltrated into the Stuck-fin.

In every case, just like their stories, I had never cared.

It was a truth deeply engraved in my bones.

“I love you, Berg.”

Ner confessed to you, who couldn’t argue with anything.

“I love you, I love you, I love you…”

This time, she gently pressed her lips against mine.

She gently pressed her lips against mine.

As our kiss continued, she broke away and whispered,

“Please… this is your answer, isn’t it… you came looking for me, too…”

Her words might have indeed been true.

What excuse could I possibly give in this situation?

Perhaps it was something that, if others saw, would be clearer than ever before.

But, looking down at me with no response, Ner whispered softly,

“Is it… because I’m a different race…?”

Smirking as if to let out a small laugh, she pulled a dagger from her embrace.

– Shriek…!

Where on earth did she get that dagger?

And why did she bring it?

Had I not appeared…would she have taken my life with it?

However, Ner, unaware of my thoughts, continued her words.

“If I… became a human too, would you accept me…?”

Before I could even comprehend what she was saying, Ner grabbed her own tail with her other hand.

Continuing her words with a choked voice, she said,

“…Ugh… this white tail…”

“….Ner…!”

“I feel like I would have lived much more easily without it… You don’t even say it’s pretty anymore… It’s just ugly…”

“Put the dagger down…!”

“…This kind of tail… then… isn’t it unnecessary?”

Before I could even respond, I saw Ner gripping the dagger tightly.

Soon, Ner twisted her body and looked at her tail.

In an instant, her hand reached for the tail.

– Thud!

In the nick of time, I managed to grab her wrist.

If I hadn’t stopped her, she might have really cut off her tail.

“Stop it…!”

Upon hearing my shout, Ner showed a pained expression.

“I hate it…! If I can’t be the same as you…hu_uh…If you can just love me… I can cut off this tail many times…”

“…”

Why does she look so pitiful?

I can finally see her now.

How much she’s struggling… It entered my eyes, which were turned away before.

Only now can I truly feel their racial trait of loving only one person.

Ner had to be with me no matter what.

“…sigh…”

In the end, I let go of all the strength in my body.

I remove the barrier that blocks my heart.

Then my body moves on its own…and I hold her in my arms.

– Thud.

My body moves on its own.

Ner’s head leans on my chest.

“…stop it, Ner…”

It’s been a long time since I’ve held her like this.

But her warmth always feels familiar.

I pulled her nape and waist close to me.

I buried my face in Ner’s shoulder and whispered to her.

“It’s time to stop…”

– Thud…

“Ugh… hu_uh….”

Finally, a dagger fell from Ner’s hand.

“Hu_uh…Berg…”

Her tense body slowly melted.

Her hand, moving wi

After her tears had subsided, I held her hand to keep her from going somewhere else and returned to the village.

It couldn’t be said that we were completely back to the way we were before.

There was still some kind of wall between us.

Both of us felt that wall, but no one dared to speak up.

Ner continued to rub her eyes on my arm, wiping away her tears.

I offered my body to her.

I left her alone to do as she pleased.

It was a night walk together after a long time.

We both felt that peaceful atmosphere.

Although the storm-like situation had passed, it had become strangely peaceful.

It was only when we entered the village that she let go of my hand.

– Thud.

And then, she turned her body for a moment and ran off somewhere.

“…”

I let out a sigh, even as I tried to catch her as she left.

Now even she might need time.

The important thing was that she had come back to the village.

I stared at her retreating figure for a long time.

Only after her figure disappeared from my sight…did I move towards home.

There was still a lot of work left to do tomorrow.

****

The place where she had run away from Berg…was in front of Sien’s sickroom.

Tears wouldn’t stop flowing from Ner’s eyes.

It was difficult to say that they were tears of happiness.

It wasn’t that kind of feeling.

…perhaps, it might have been resignation.

Berg had finally accepted her, and paradoxically, a new feeling had blossomed.

– Squeak…

Ner entered the sickroom without knocking.

“Cough… cough…”

Immediately, a weak cough rang out.

Ner slowly approached the source of the cough.

There she saw the face of the being who Berg loved so dearly.

Cien, who had everything she possessed.

The devil’s whisper rang in her head.

If she died…? Could she picture a happy future with Berg?

Now, Berg had somewhat accepted her.

He had acknowledged that there were feelings towards her remaining.

“…Ah…”

At that moment, Cien opened her eyes.

It seemed as though she had woken up upon sensing Ner’s presence.

“Cough…! Cough…! Lady Ner…”

“…”

“…What brings you…at this hour…”

Ner did not step back while watching Cien look at her.

Her gaze had always made her feel insignificant.

…But now, she couldn’t back down any longer.

Ner spoke while looking down at Cien.

“…I wished you were dead.”

And then, she revealed her true feelings.

Cien just stayed still, listening to the story.

“If you died…I thought I could return to the way it was with Berg…I thought maybe that would be possible…”

She revealed the deepest desire she had hidden.

But still, Cien just looked up at Ner silently.

It was unclear whether she didn’t have the strength to react otherwise.

Cien just stayed like that for a while… and responded with a smile.

“…So…now…are you here…to kill me?”

Ner shook his head.

“You would’ve died anyway if I left you alone…”

She informed Cien of the fact that she had recently realized.

Despite Ner’s best efforts, Cien’s body could not hold up any longer.

Ner knew that she wouldn’t have much time left.

At those words, Cien’s eyes trembled.

With a small smile, she said,

“…But it can’t be…Berg is…in so much pain…”

Seeing her like that, Ner responded.

“…I know.”

That’s why he had come to this place.

Ner swallowed his tears and spoke.

“…I’ve come to realize something…although it’s too late…I didn’t wish for my own happiness.”

“…”

“…I just wanted Berg to be happy.”

“…”

“And now, more than me…you and…your child seem to make Berg happier…”

“…Ner…?”

-Whoosh!

Ner climbed onto Cien and pressed hard on her shoulder.

Unable to resist, Cien whispered.

“A…it hurts, Ner…”

“…Just bear with it a little longer.”

-Drip, drip…

Tears flowed from Ner’s eyes once again.

He didn’t know how the results of this spell would turn out.

He had no idea what might happen to him.

Perhaps he was about to face death here.

The spell he was about to cast would be such a thing.

It was a kind of sorcery that one would perform only for the one they truly loved, risking their life.

But Berg loved Cien, and Nere loved such a Berg.

Inevitably, it had to go on like this.

However, one thing was for sure, Cien’s condition would undoubtedly improve.

It would buy enough time to overcome the plague.

Did she ever think the day would come when she would sacrifice her life for history?

For Nere, who had loved only Berg, there was no greater humiliation than this.

Risking her life to ensure that the man she loved could live happily.

Nere let out a scoff.

…Nevertheless, the sorcery began to recite.

Soon, Nere’s eyes began to glow orange.

From her body, an orange beam shot out and went into Cien.

“Th… this is…”

Cien looked back at Nere with energetic eyes, feeling the immediate effect.

But Nere continued the sorcery endlessly, despite the surprised look of Cien.

The sorcery she had learned from her grandmother.

It was a sorcery she had somehow learned to use when the one she loved was in danger.

Nere felt her body rapidly deteriorating.

The strength was draining from her arm, holding down Cien.

“Ne… Nere…!”

Life returned to Cien’s eyes.

On the contrary, life faded from Nere’s eyes.

Nere was completely exchanging her state with Cien’s.

Nere’s arm wavered as if it would loosen.

Each time, Nere recalled memories of Berg, not the Cien in front of her eyes.

‘Nere.’

From their meeting to falling in love.

She remembered him smiling and calling her name.

A smile also came to Nere’s face, thinking of those memories.

‘…Berg.’

Ner whispered to herself.

From No ble mt L dot c om

If anything truly went wrong… this could be the end.

‘…I have to be happy.’

Despite everything, with the belief that Berg could be happy… she recited the spell to the end.

-Plop.

Suddenly, her strength slipped away.

Between her fading consciousness, Ner felt Sien shaking her fiercely.

It seemed the spell had successfully worked.

‘This is enough.’

She comforted herself.

If Berg was happy, that was enough.

Ner closed her eyes.

She prayed that she could see Berg, even in her dreams.

  1. LuxX says:

If Ner is still alive, the harem path is possible. That could be a happy ending .

  2. Clown 🤡🎪 says:

Plssss don’t tell me ner is dead

  3. dankan0 says:

I think the best ending would be the death of all three. And Berg, after defeating the “right hand of the demon king,” goes after them!

    1. aint no way author want to kill berg after all suffering he been through, unless he want a pipe-bomb packet that is

  4. RINRIN says:

THATS WHAT IM SAYING GUYS. BERG NEED ALL THREE OF EM, NOT ONLY ONE. HAREM ENDING IS THE ONLY ONE FOR THIS NOVEL, ALL THE GIRLS IS BEST GIRLS, THEY DESERVE BERG AND BERG DESERVE THEM.

I SWEAR TO GOD IF ANYTHING WENT WRONG WITH SHIEN AND HER BABY I-

    1. D1Grandmaster says:

I was only against the harem ending from the beginning because they didn’t deserve Berg at all with how hard he was trying and them just taking it for granted and betraying him but since they have all redeemed themselves now, a harem ending with all of them alive would definitely be the best.

      1. rob z rob z says:

I agree – my dream ending was Berg drops all 3 girls and finds someone new, but once the author went down the Shien path, the harem ending is the only one that really works.

  5. Bocchan says:

    Man I got goosebumps

  6. D1Grandmaster says:

Okay I was against the idea of a harem ending but it seems like it would be the best ending now because they have all redeemed themselves (Arwin will probably redeem herself by sharing her lifespan with Shien or something so all four of them can die together at the same time to old age)

  7. TheDiir says:

Dear Lord, the writer is truly skilled in their work. I was in a panic earlier for Ner 😖

  8. This is an interesting way for Ner’s redemption… I wonder how Arwin will do it

    1. It was a cliffhanger…

      Thanks for the chapters

  9. G says:

I wish the author would stop implying that berg is against polygamy because of the law. He is against it because shien doesnt want it. Just like how he didnt force Ner to have Arwin in their lives he isnt going to ram a harem into his relationship with her.

  10. Capid says:

For once Ner chose well, I guess the path for the polygamy ending is now open.

  11. BH says:

Well after that assuming Ner survives I imagine both Cien and Berg would accept her. Which will probably drive Arwin crazy.
