It Is Fate To Be Loved by the Villains chapter 320

320. Execution (2)

Execution (2)

“You have the expression of seeing a ghost. What are you so afraid of?”

“…”

“Aren’t you going to attack?”

As Mobius heard the voice that seemed to freeze him in place, he struggled to suppress his ragged breath.

“-System. Counterattack.”

[Executing.]

The attacks poured in once again, but it was the same pattern that had been relentless until now.

He dodged without any damage. This time, Dowd moved forward slightly.

“What are you trying to do, you bastard?”

In his boiling mind, that thought came to the forefront.

Rationally, he knew. Being swept away by anger any further would be dangerous.

Until now, this man had casually brushed off the attacks Mobius had thrown at him, without retaliating even once. He couldn’t even begin to guess what kind of trick the man had up his sleeve.

“What are you aiming for?”

“Anything in particular? Nothing, really.”

“…”

What kind of nonsense is this?

To think that he would mock him even in this situation. He had to give him credit for his audacity.

“I don’t have a sense of humor. If you behave reasonably now, I’ll kill you with minimal pain.”

“No, I really don’t have any ulterior motives.”

“…”

Honestly.

By this point, it was painfully obvious that the other person was deliberately buying time.

And he also knew that he had no means of stopping the person from dragging out the time.

“…How much longer?”

Being put into a situation where he had lost control to someone else and had to passively react to the opponent’s moves.

He couldn’t even remember when was the last time this happened.

“It’s not exactly something that suits my nature.”

If the other person doesn’t reveal the cards they hold, then Mobius will force them out.

If we spend time together, it’s not only the man who benefits.

Mobius took a deep breath and prepared for a different attack this time.

“…Indeed. It’s not usual. It feels a bit different from the opponents I’ve faced so far.”

Calmly acknowledging this, Mobius changed the position of his staff and fiddled with the bill.

This guy is definitely not an ordinary person.

But even if that’s the case, it will end there.

This is Mount Ma, the pinnacle of all technological capabilities.

The reason why they haven’t fully unleashed the ability to observe beyond dimensions is simply because the opponent is a valuable “research subject,” and they wanted to preserve its form as much as possible.

Fingers snap. Among the research facilities gathered near Ma Tower, the facilities with the highest firepower are being prepared one by one.

Dimensional distortion device, void generator, particle-shredding shockwave generator…

Although they are piles of weapons that have such severe “side effects” that even activating them requires consideration, they are ultimately the things that must be brought out seriously to oppose the opponent.

“From now on, I will take it seriously. Even if it means turning them into corpses, there are various ways to make them a valuable research sample.”

“Ah~”

However, Dawood’s reaction to his words was simply flicking his ears, as if it were a nuisance.

“I’ve heard your excuses well.”

“…”

Although this sentence clearly seems to be aimed at getting on his nerves, Mobius also took a deep breath and pushed back the anger rising in his head all at once.

But now, he won’t be fooled by words anymore. Whatever is said, he will destroy with all his might.

“But, it seems like you’re misunderstanding something.”

Just before Mobius takes a deep breath and fires the weapons.

Suddenly, he chuckled and said.

“Why do you think I’m not retaliating in the first place?”

“What do you mean?”

“No, from the beginning.”

Just before those weapons rain down.

Dawood, who had not changed his expression at all, smiled again and spoke.

“Didn’t I forget the purpose of fighting with you?”

And with that sentence,

Just a moment ago, Dawood, who had been looking into Mobius’s eyes, disappeared without a trace.

The sight of yellow particles suddenly transforming and scattering made Mobius’ gaze briefly flicker.

“…-?!”

Hallucination?

No, that can’t be.

The observation equipment of the matap he possesses is capable of surpassing any trick or illusion. It is a group of technologies that can transcend dimensions and read into the past of the target. There’s no way he couldn’t see through such an obvious ploy.

Right.

Unless it’s a being that holds the highest status in the entire dimension, beyond the ‘standard’.

Mobius, who had taken on the form of Dowd and discerned the ‘nature’ emanating from the scattering particles, forcefully exhaled the air pushing into the lungs.

“-Mage?”

Yellow mage.

Furthermore, a yellow demon. He had never even heard of such a thing.

Although all observable mages had been blocked, there was no assumption regarding the existence of a demon that was ‘outside’ of observation to begin with!

“I told you.”

Just as Mobius was thinking that, someone suddenly said those words next to him.

No, calling it next to him wouldn’t be accurate.

Due to his enhanced hearing with all kinds of mechanization, it sounded as if it were right beside him. However, the sense of distance felt from the voice was clearly different from Dowd, with whom he had just been fighting a moment ago, making it evident that there was indeed some distance.

Without realizing, I turned my head toward that direction.

“If you get angry, you lose your logical judgment, right?”

“…”

Dowd, who had been fighting with him on the ‘stage’ far away until now.

At some point, he had taken the key card that could control Astrid Professor’s life-support system and was holding it in his hand with his chin resting on his fist.

“…”

The moment Mobius saw that, he instinctively scanned through the things that should ‘originally’ be there in order.

The ‘vital organs’ of Astrid he had been in control of, and even her ‘new body’ that she was never allowed to take outside.

Just now.

While Mobius himself was engaging in idle talk and meaningless fighting with this man.

This man had successfully rescued the biggest hostage that Mobius had captured in order to control him.

“Even if the authority over the life-support system can be completely overridden with just this card… He’s the kind of guy who would shoot something physically if things go wrong and destroy everything. I had a hard time ensuring the safe transplantation and sending the intact new body to a secure location.”

“…Y-“

Note: The tenses in the original text are not specified, so the translations have been adjusted to past tense for fluidity and readability.

It was only natural that I could completely avoid the attack. After all, it was just an illusion.

The reason for not being able to anticipate his intentions, for not retaliating even once and approaching slowly with gestures towards this direction only, was clear.

By confusing me, he was able to delay more time.

Probably.

If Mobius could regain his sanity even a little bit.

Though it would be a shallow trick that could be easily seen through if there was any suspicion, even once.

“To be honest, I was quite surprised at how easily you lost your rationality.”

“Daud Campbell…”

“Perhaps it’s because you’re so full of arrogance and vanity. Even a scratch could easily turn your world upside down.”

“Y-…”

When one becomes angry.

Rational judgment becomes impossible.

Just like how I set a trap for that man.

I.

Fallen prey to such a trivial deceit.

From beginning to end.

As the master of Marlet and someone with exceptional intellect.

To that damn bastard who, at most, should have been my “research subject”!

“Yo-you son of a b*tch—!!”

With rage resembling the eruption of a volcano, Mobius raised his staff and aimed it at Daud.

Every weapon he had prepared just moments ago unleashed a firepower that could easily kill even a half-bodied person.

However.

This time, the other’s pupils also shone with a dangerous aura.

“Didn’t I say? Ten minutes.”

With a beep, the alarm from Daud’s wristwatch resounded.

It meant that the predetermined ten minutes had passed.

Perhaps, the ten minutes also held that meaning.

The necessary time until Astrid could safely evacuate to a completely secure location, without being drawn into danger.

“Are you prepared to die?”

With those words.

From Dowd’s body, the ‘black mana’ began to flow abundantly.

“-I may have spoken confidently.”

He barely managed to calm the rushing energy in his heart.

Dealing with yellow mana, he felt much more exhausted than usual.

Yellow mana. Its power can be used for ‘illusion’, just like what was just demonstrated.

Under certain conditions, it can create illusions that no observation device can penetrate.

“…still, not yet.”

He had one more step to go. A way to use it properly.

[…But can you endure using it?]

“…I wonder?”

-Well then.

At least he had made it this far.

With those words, he scratched his head and looked at the facilities of the Matap that had gathered around him.

“…these are completely moving fortresses.”

He said dejectedly, glancing at the Matap’s ‘research buildings’ that were lined up around him.

No, this place is supposed to be a research institution, but looking at the facilities inside, it seems like they could fight a whole war with the surface and not be at a disadvantage.

[What are you going to do after this?]

“…Well, somehow?”

[…I thought you would say that.]

I always feel a little unsatisfied with how things end.

There are still a few hidden cards up my sleeve, but still.

Honestly, I hope there was some help, no matter what.

It’s a bit challenging to do it alone, to be honest.

“-Teacherrr-!”

Suddenly.

An unfamiliar voice rang out from beside him.

Yeah looks like the ending will be rushed like most of the korean novels.

    Thanks Noble !!!! 🙂

Dangit it stops here. It’s cool but putting both flashbacks and boss battle near each other with no breaks really feels like someone push on the gas pedal. The pacing’s too fast, although it seems that it’s not only a problem in this novel.
