Love Letter From The Future chapter 368

5. Bread and Dagger (66)

5. Bread and Dagger (66)

Fiery arrows, fireballs, and rain came flying and pierced the hearts and heads of my comrades. Every time, without fail, screams erupted and lives were lost one by one.

“Aww!”

“Ouch!”

Hans couldn’t come to his senses.

The thought of living was just filling my brain.

He groaned and glanced in the direction the flaming arrow flew.

There were people approaching with leisurely steps.

The elongated height, pointed ears, and even those slender limbs.

was an elf

Could it be that the departed elves returned?

However, the elves that Hans encountered before were not so strong. If it was an opponent with this level of strength, he would have avoided the fight in the first place.

An unusual shadow entered Hans’ trembling eyes.

Between the tall elves, a stocky middle-aged man stood.

His face, distorted by burns, was hideous. In addition, her hair must have been burned, and there was no hair to hide her ugly face.

those eyes though.

As far as those blue eyes, they were sunken deep.

Hans was even confused for a moment.

However, he did not have much free time left.

He crawled desperately and threw himself through the rubble of the burnt cabin. And pretending to be dead, I closed my eyes and waited.

Hopefully those monsters will pass quickly.

The residual heat from the ashes made my skin tingle and hurt. I didn’t even know it at first, but there was a crow wandering around beside him.

It seemed like a moan would come out of nowhere. Nevertheless, Hans endured it as best he could.

The nightmare that had plagued him all his life was playing.

The day the village burned.

Even that day, he barely survived by hiding in a barn that had become ashes.

Through the closed field of view, I heard the chatter of the elves.

At first, it was a tone filled with desperate pain.

“Unbelievable… It’s already too late. I heard that a human military camp was found nearby, so I came to help just in case.”

“I’m glad I can get my revenge.”

A languid chatter followed the voice that was presumed to be middle-aged.

Cold sweat began to form on Hans’ forehead. It was because I was more anxious because I couldn’t grasp the situation.

In the end, Hans couldn’t overcome his anxiety and narrowed his eyes.

then it appeared

A middle-aged man with an ugly face and a tall elf as if to accompany him.

A red cloth was wrapped around the elf’s eyes. It looked like a blind man, but its behavior was surprisingly natural.

As if it had another eye attached to it.

The middle-aged man groaned.

“Revenge, oh… Revenge! Could there be a more tragic fate? However, if this is also God’s will, it is the duty of a servant to follow… However, it bothers me a little that we don’t see the bodies of our brothers and sisters. Can you look at it with a ‘blessing’?”

“Of course, Leoric.”

The tall elf obediently followed the command of the middle-aged man called ‘Leoric’.

He opened his mouth and stuck out his tongue. And something gurgled and climbed up his neck.

It wasn’t until the ugly eyes appeared.

The eyes that appeared rolling over the tongue smirked and scanned the surroundings. Eventually, the middle-aged man put his hand on the elf’s shoulder, and the flesh began to flicker blue.

Leoric immediately burst into exclamation.

“Ian Percus? ha ha ha! He couldn’t believe he was hiding in the elven village… You even took up a knife to save our brother and sister.”

“Nelm,” the tall elf finally removed his tongue.

Naturally, the hideous eyes also disappeared along the neck. The tall elf asked Leoric.

“What should I do?”

“This is a wonderful person. You saved the lives of our brothers and sisters, but… … .”

The middle-aged man let out a deep sigh with a distressed expression on his face.

The form covering his face with both hands seemed to want to show that he was very disturbed.

“You know too much. Hey, like a human brother pretending to be dead and overhearing our story.”

Hans felt a moment of fear that almost stopped him from breathing.

He displayed superhuman patience and somehow managed not to move. It was only the village that hoped it was an illusion.

However, Leoric did not tolerate even Hans’ brief peace.

“Stop acting in vain, brother. Didn’t you live a long time if you stopped? With the blood of our elven brothers and sisters on our hands… … .”

“You were first.”

It was a word he spat out while grinding his teeth.

Hans’ eyes widened at once. It might have been this unique determination that had already given up.

His mind had long been tangled with fear beyond measure. But at the same time, there was also a feeling of crying.

It is a nightmare that has plagued me all my life.

But should I step back and regret it again?

I didn’t want to. If the outcome would not change anyway, I wanted to resist until the end.

who gave you a chance

Hans staggered to his feet, recalling the face of a young knight holding a hatchet.

“You burned our village first! I still remember, those fiery arrows… You guys have raided our village!”

“I had no choice.”

Leoric let out a light sigh and took a step forward.

The elves accompanying him were startled and tried to dissuade him. Still, his intentions were firm.

When Leoric raised his hand to restrain them, the elves became as quiet as lies.

It was terrifying control.

Hans couldn’t stop the cold sweat running down his back.

“I once dreamed of coexistence between humans and elves. An elf girl I found in a car wandering down the street, becoming a loser, showed me that possibility. She gave me bread.”

Then Leoric quietly wiped the tears from his eyes.

His hands groped and rummaged in his bosom. Before long, he was able to find a piece of bread and take it out.

Leoric casually held out the bread.

“Would you like some?”

“Shut up.”

Hmm, said Leoric, swallowing his saliva regretfully.

His hand went to his chest again. Even so, the man did not stop taking one step at a time.

“I also have regrets. Well, haven’t the humans stolen everything from the elves? Their home, their food, even their lives… … .”

“You elves are the same!”

“Yes, it is! That’s the point!”

Leoric clasped his hands together and exclaimed. It looked like someone was playing a joke.

“I, I realized… The day I saw the burning elven village at the hands of mankind, and the day the elven girl who saved me died of starvation.”

Standing tall, the middle-aged man’s steps stopped.

He quietly made the sign of the cross and put his hands together. It was a posture that the followers of the Celestial Church often took.

“Immanuel, praise the Lord! How arrogant was this poor servant?!”

The elves who accompanied him immediately fell to their knees at the passionate sermon.

And until they put their hands together while making the sign of the cross.

Hans was speechless at the sight he had never seen before.

“Everybody can live together?! That disgusting arrogance that living in harmony with each other is the best! That filthy belief was deceiving us! Look at this burning town!”

There was a faint madness in Leoric’s voice, which had already heated up.

His blue eyes burned fiercely.

“Elves and humans are the same! In this world that hurts each other, takes away from each other, and struggles not to be weeded out! How can this be the present world that the Lord takes care of? This place is hell! We were actually stuck in Hell!”

“That’s why you raided our village?!”

“Yes, it is! For that is the will of the Lord!”

jerk, jerk.

Leoric’s face was full of strong conviction as he took another step forward. Hans backed away, hesitantly, with an eerie chill.

Then, something caught his foot.

It was a burnt piece. It was shaped like an elongated stick, and the tip was sharpened.

done.

Hans forcibly suppressed the rising ecstasy.

Only, soon after Leoric came close to him.

He quickly picked up the wooden stick and stabbed it straight through.

It was an inevitable gap. The opponent was wearing a shabby priest’s uniform, so it was clear that this wooden bar would pierce his chest.

Yes, it should have been.

However, when a sense of resistance was transmitted to the arm.

Hans had to look blankly at Leoric. He hadn’t responded. Just standing there, smiling sadly.

Leoric’s hand slapped Hans on the shoulder with a dull piercing sound.

It seemed that I heard a faint sound.

Even that was a moment. Before he knew it, Hans’ arm had been blown off from the shoulder blade, and he was coughing up blood from the amputated part.

It was not human strength.

Hans screamed in excruciating pain.

“Kuuu!”

“Immanuel, praise the Lord! Human brother, you are now to be saved… … .”

Then, with a bang, the kick hit Hans in the stomach.

With a feeling of being turned inside out, Hans rolled on the ground and vomited up a bowl of bloody water. With just two rooms, Hans’s vision was blurring.

It is empty.

Even Leoric was taking good care of Hans. Had he made up his mind, Hans would have been dead long ago.

Even so, Leoric did not kill Hans.

To kill slowly.

Hans felt a chilling fear along with a burning rage.

It felt like my hair stood on end.

This man is crazy.

I sincerely believed that this was for Hans.

Leoric’s voice, filled with emotion, continued.

“Resent me, hate me… The sin is mine. If someone has to go to hell, I have to go! So, brothers, complete your atonement and leave for heaven as soon as possible!”

Leoric’s hand, which had been wandering around, was pulled out again.

What was in his hand was no bread.

A dagger, anyone can see it was a weapon to cut the lifeline.

Hans felt his eyelids getting heavy.

Hopeless. couldn’t win

However, wanting to eat a shot, Hans squeezed out his ruined lungs and burst into laughter.

“Hey, hey, hey… Leh, did you say Leoric?”

Standing tall, Leoric’s hand holding the dagger stopped.

His eyes were suddenly darkened. It sounds like you’re willing to listen to advice.

Hans did not miss the opportunity.

“You, you will fail… There are people who deserve a savior far more than you… … .”

He could turn his back on humanity, but a man with a sword for the elves.

A knight who did not take his life even from those who tried to kill him.

He was a person I hated so much, but now I couldn’t be more reassuring.

The eyes of the weeping Hans were bloodshot.

“I-Ian… Kuk-kuk, Sir Ian is going to take you down. Look forward to it, how terrifying the blades forged by our humanity will be… … .”

“… … Note it.”

That was the last conversation.

Pak, and blood gushed out from the nape of the neck where the dagger was stuck. Hans gurgled, taking in the froth of blood, and then the convulsions stopped.

death.

Leoric sighed in pain at the familiar result and turned his head.

“Your advice was well received. Ian Perkus, indeed… He was there.”

His eyes, which had been muttering to himself, suddenly turned to the burial mound that was being made.

A greatsword was stuck on it. Perhaps he was making a tomb.

A faint arc was drawn at the corner of Leoric’s mouth.

“If he is such a great hero, how should he overcome the trials he deserves… … .”

A white light shone in the middle-aged man’s hands.

The light soon began to wrap around Hans’ swollen arm. Not only that, he was even treating the wounds on his back.

It was a bizarre healing power.

Even that great saintess could not bestow such regenerative powers. However, even in this miraculous sight, Leoric and the other elves seemed unmoved.

However, Leoric whispered in the ear of the dead soldier.

“You will be the hero who accuses Ian Percus of his betrayal… This setup would be nice. You thought you were dead and were buried in a grave, but even then you were holding on to a faint consciousness. And you wring out your last strength and write this in my blood.”

The elves were gathering the bodies of the soldiers.

To fulfill Leoric’s plan.

“… … ‘Ian Perkus betrayed humanity.’ How is it?”

After that, several more mounds were built in the elven village.

Next, the party from Yurdina Castle arrived, and a brown-haired woman in a maid’s uniform arrived.

She looked around quietly, then reached out through the collapsing rubble.

Then a crow flew over my hand.

As the crow cawed, a stream of blue magical energy began to flow through the woman’s hand.

After a while, the woman let out a meaningful moan.

“… … I have to report it to Ian.”

The next day, Ian spoke in front of the elf.

“I’m going to go to that ‘headquarters’.”

It was a bombshell declaration.
