The Damn Family Is Back Again chapter 113

The Damn Family Is Back Again 113

113. The Aiperos Family (6)

When I received the episode to revitalize the Rusmayier territory while playing this game, there were many difficulties from my perspective.

The nobles could be solved to some extent with my own hands.

Even if the demons had taken action earlier, they could have quickly resolved the damage on our side.

However, no matter how much we cleared Chapter 1 and obtained funding from the Bagrand Duchy, it was impossible to save Rusmayel with just that.

We had to implement at least one more plan to bring in dimensional profits to Rusmayel.

That’s when it hit me.

All they had was the Wagleu Mountain, but at this point, it was the biggest source of revenue.

Demons, monsters.

A fantasy-allowed, virtual monster that threatened humanity and existed as a threat.

From the players’ perspective, these monsters were always causing trouble in the peripheral regions of the Pelosros Empire.

What if we could help them?

What if we could make a deal with them?

This thought allowed me to break through the bottleneck.

For them, who had to build a stronghold under a sturdy fortress wall and constantly eliminate monsters, this wasn’t just a simple rock.

“Are you selling rocks?”

“It seems that… there’s a rumor about building a fortress wall in the peripheral region.”

“I’ve also heard that the nobles are building high-rise buildings.”

“Either way, we can sell the construction materials and make a profit!”

“That’s right! We can now be self-sufficient!”

Barak, who had become Archimedes, jumped for joy and laughed with the territory’s citizens.

But then, a man expressed his concern.

“But if we dig up the entire Wagleu Mountain, won’t we go back to living in poverty?”

Some of the territory’s citizens began to worry again.

That’s a valid concern.

But there’s no need to worry about it.

“Hey, don’t you remember what task the lord gave us? This isn’t just about digging up the Wagleu Mountain.”

“Uh… now that you mention it…”

“Didn’t the lord ask us to do something like excavation work?”

“If we were just going to dig up the mountain, we would’ve only needed pickaxes. Why would we need to mobilize all that heavy machinery?”

Exactly. That’s what it was.

If it were just about obtaining construction materials to clear the episode, I would’ve given them a bunch of pickaxes and been done with it.

But I had changed the plan to excavate the mountain in a specific shape.

“When you look at the shape, it feels like a huge tunnel. That’s why I ordered them to dig through to the other side.”

“It’s a road! A road!”

“Oh, I see! It’s a passageway!”

“That’s right! A huge road that penetrates through the Wagleu Mountain has been created.”

The purpose was to improve the inconvenient geographical conditions of the Wagleu Mountain.

The atmosphere changed again.

Led by Barak, the territory’s citizens were filled with laughter.

I remember that the rumor about building a road through the Wagleu Mountain had also spread among the nobles. Even Arina Claire had expressed discomfort about it.

But if we could create a tunnel like this, merchants and nobles would be able to pass through.

A permanent passageway that would eliminate the need to take a long detour.

I had the optimal conditions to receive the toll.

“This is a way to make money, isn’t it?”

After completing the tunnel construction on Mount Wagleu, I would be able to prepare the funds on my own.

With this money, I could pay back the debt to the workshop, bit by bit, like I did with my part-time job.

Of course, just relying on the toll wouldn’t be enough to pay back the money Carsein spent on food and lodging, let alone the expenses of the Shatren territory and his allowance. The amount would snowball into a huge sum.

But being in a difficult situation doesn’t always mean it’s all bad. The medieval setting, unlike modern times, isn’t necessarily a disadvantage.

In this slow-paced world, there are more ways to increase this money. All the knowledge and time I have will solve the problem. It’s just a matter of studying the game’s settings.

So, my plan is simple.

I’ll gather a reasonable amount of money that they can’t find fault with, and then leave the workshop.

Just like I do in reality.

“It’s getting late. Barak will show you to your room, so go rest first. Harnie.”

“Yes… okay.”

After saying that to Harnie, I picked up my pen again.

***

-Tick.

Clea, who was pacing back and forth in the hall, pulled back the curtain.

As the curtain opened, the sun that had already set revealed itself.

It was already late enough to be considered night.

And…

The door to my younger brother’s room still hadn’t opened, which meant Carsein hadn’t returned yet.

“Heh…”

Looking at the sunset, I couldn’t help but let out a sigh.

Not coming back this late means he’s definitely gone out. He might not have sent a message about going out, but in Carsein’s mind, he had no intention of returning home.

That’s what happened today.

The Gelgetton noble family’s Pitea Gelgetton.

A gathering of nobles.

The nightmare of the Kelvia fruit.

Carsein was the uninvited guest at that banquet.

“And maybe… when I went with Flora in the past, it was the same.”

No. It wasn’t “maybe,” it was definitely like that.

Even with the healthy appetite, Carsein had eaten food containing Kelvia fruit at the Gelgetton noble family’s, with the intention of taking care of his health.

And unlike this time, he had eaten a lot of that food and then vowed never to go out with Flora again.

What happened that day?

My eyes are getting tired.

I had scolded Carsein, and I had seen him get reprimanded by our family, explaining the situation to them one by one.

I didn’t even listen to Carsein’s side of the story.

Later, I heard from Sheiden that Carsein had been complaining about it, but I didn’t even care about that.

“…”

My lips were pursed tight.

What was Karsein thinking at the Daehwa Assembly, where the nightmare of the Kelvia fruit’s curse was reenacted?

There was no reason for her to go there and suffer this humiliation, driven by someone else’s will, not her own.

It was the same reason as in the past. I couldn’t fathom what kind of resentment she might hold towards Flora, who had caused this incident.

And, thinking that she would get scolded by her family if she returned, she chose to stay out, which made one side of my chest ache.

In this situation, what could she do to help herself?

There was only one option.

“…so she wouldn’t get scolded by her mom and sister.”

The same situation as in the past.

Karsein would probably receive a scolding from her sister and mother.

So, Claire went to her mother’s room.

To prevent Karsein from getting misunderstood.

To explain it well.

– Knock, knock.

“Mom, I have something to say. Can I come in?”

Trying to reveal Pethea Gelgetton’s wrongdoing and clear up her sister’s misunderstanding.

That was the best action she could take at the moment.

***

– Thud.

The pen that was scribbling away stopped. It was because of the sudden knock on the door from outside.

“Ah, ah… Karsein? Can I come in for a moment?”

Harnie said in a troubled tone from outside.

It was already time to sleep… Was something wrong?

It would be better to let her in, so I said, “Come in.”

Her expression looked troubled, not just her voice.

“What’s wrong? I thought you’d be sleeping since you were tired earlier.”

“Ah, no! That’s…!”

She tried to say something but stopped, then let out a fake cough.

Her sharp eyes briefly met mine, but she soon got to the point.

“Yes, I’m tired, and I did fall asleep. It’s true that I want to rest now. But I can’t.”

“What do you mean?”

“That’s…”

It seemed that Harnie had asked for a small room to stay in, just like I had hinted earlier.

But, in response, Village Chief Barak said it was difficult and gave this answer.

“Can’t give you a room?”

“…Yes.”

“What, why not?”

She was a guest of the lord, and she didn’t have a bad relationship with the villagers. As a noble, her gentle nature had worked well, and she got along with the commoners too.

But, they wouldn’t give her a room?

It’s abnormal.

Now that Haruni is being treated like a noble, she’s being chased out, isn’t she?

Haruni let out a deep sigh.

“It’s not that I don’t want to give you a room, but this estate doesn’t receive guests well, so I’m telling you.”

From noble mtl dot com

“…Are you serious? Do you really not have a room?”

She nodded.

What a world.

It wasn’t that she didn’t want to give a room, but that there was no room to give.

‘Come to think of it…’

I was like that too?

The room I’m staying in was originally a warehouse.

I had barely managed to clean it up and was using it, and the village head didn’t even have the conditions to accommodate another person.

I guess I underestimated it too much.

If it were another estate, there might be a room available, but here, everything was taken by the nobles around Hemnon Modrich, including the surrounding areas.

Add to that the frequent attacks by the Ma-su, and it was difficult to prepare a guest room.

There’s no choice.

“You can sleep in this room.”

“What?!”

“There’s no choice, is there? There’s only one room left, and it’s this one.”

“But… if I sleep here, where will you sleep…?”

Haruni asked with concern.

This was an obvious answer.

“I’ll sleep outside.”

“What, outside?! That’s ridiculous!”

“I can’t sleep with you in this room, can I?”

I replied, grabbing the door handle to leave, but my hand was covered by her white hand.

“No way, I didn’t say you could sleep outside!”

“…Then what can we do? We can’t sleep together in this situation.”

After briefly glancing at the bed and the neatly folded blankets, she closed her eyes and opened them again to answer.

“Y-you can sleep on the bed.”

“What?”

“I’ve caused you trouble, so… you can sleep on the bed.”

And then she laid down one of the blankets on the floor.

She meant to sleep on the floor herself.

“…Is it okay? There’s only the two of us in this room, after all.”

Haruni nodded slightly.

It seemed she was okay with it.

But I wasn’t okay with it.

– Thud.

“What are you doing? This is my bed.”

“Let’s change the conditions. If you sleep here, I’ll sleep on the floor.”

“No, why? I’m the one causing trouble. I suddenly came to your room and asked you to give it to me.”

“If you don’t like it, I’ll leave.”

Harinee then pressed her lips together.

After a brief silence, she sat down on the bed.

“What’s the reason…?”

Her voice was different from before, with a hint of expectation.

Was it because of her emotions that she was hesitating to speak?

“Because I didn’t finish my work.”

“…Work?”

“Yes. While I was working, I saw you sleeping on the floor, and I thought I wouldn’t be able to focus.”

“…!!”

Then Harinee covered herself with the blanket.

“I’ll go to sleep first!”

…But she didn’t finish speaking.

No, she was going to sleep, so just leave her alone.

At this point, Harinee had already shown me a lot of consideration.

What’s the big deal? She didn’t open the door on purpose, and I had to stay up all night outside, but I couldn’t bear it.

But at this point, she was being generous.

“It’s not like sleeping with someone else in the same room…”

This was a strange feeling.

Not with a man, but with a woman.

As usual, when I was with Harinee, unexpected things kept happening.
