The Hero’s Brother Is Bound To Be Depressed chapter 101

101 - Ross has to be chosen for everyone.

101 – Ross has to be chosen for everyone.

If I had to choose the character I have the most affection for and understand in my novels, the main character, of course. It had to be Roel.

What choices you will make, what thoughts you will have and what feelings you will have in this situation. Because I’ve been thinking about it for over a few months.

So you can tell. That the reason Roel treats me favorably is the feeling of guilt.

I will use it to reverse the reversed flow.

It was a method that only I, who knew Roel’s personality and thoughts better than anyone else, could do it.

I mingled with the people enjoying the end of the festival and headed to the corner classroom in the annex building where Roel was.

It was also near the training ground, and no one visited, so Flavia and Roel often spent time here.

Ellie silently followed me with a thoughtful look on her face.

As expected, Roel was seen eating food and talking happily in an empty classroom with Flavia.

I immediately knocked on the classroom door and opened it without waiting.

Seeing Ellie and I who suddenly appeared, Flavia narrowed her eyes and began to be wary.

It’s been a while since the two of us got time to go on a date, but when an uninvited guest appears. It was an instinctive feeling of insecurity.

Before Flavia could grumble and open her mouth, I jumped.

“Senior Flavia. I’m sorry, but I have something to talk to her brother about. Can she step aside?”

Unlike usual, let’s ask politely for the first time in a serious voice.

Flavia pouted her lips, grumbling that her date was over, but in the end she sensibly avoided her place.

“Pay back your debt later.”

Still, like Flavia, I sneaked past and took care of things. With the exception of Roel, he had a personality that did not see any loss, so that was one of the reasons why he was so disrespectful to others.

“What are you doing with Ellie?”

As I hear Flavia close the classroom door, I bring another chair. I sat with Ellie in front of Roel.

As I sat down in silence, Roel looked away and winked at Ellie.

As promised, Ellie didn’t answer the question and kept her mouth shut. She must have felt a strange atmosphere. Roel smiled shyly.

“I feel uneasy about something… ?”

I took a deep breath and opened my mouth to Roel, who gave me an uneasy look.

“Congratulations to the head of the year, hyung.”

The tense atmosphere was relieved by my words. Roel smiled brightly with a relieved expression.

“Thanks, both of you had a great match. Two troublemakers in the village are first year seniors and second students… !”

I replied in a cold voice to Roel, who was delighted with his work, saying congratulations.

“Why, did you never imagine that your younger brother, a lump of baggage with an inferiority complex, would become second in the academy?”

The relaxed atmosphere froze in an instant. Even Ellie looked at me in amazement at my words.

Usually, this kind of speech only gives the other person a sense of resentment. I want to refute the words, and I do not want to agree with the truth.

“Sorry, I didn’t mean that. I will apologize.”

However, Roel, as always, smiled kindly and tried to lighten the mood somehow.

I felt an unknown pitiful feeling for that figure, revealing the inferiority complex that I had suppressed in my heart.

“I’ll be honest. More than the time I spent with my brother, the time I spent alone at the academy away from him. It was the most growing time for me. It was the happiest time of my life.”

As I stared at Roel blankly, the eyes that looked at me were filled with guilt toward her younger brother, Ross.

Roel did nothing wrong to Ross. She’s just cutting Ross down from those around her.

The main character I created, Roel, had to have no loopholes.

Because he is a hero who is loved and praised by everyone. That’s what readers want.

But that’s a story in a novel. In this world where probabilities acted arbitrarily, there exists a past that is not found in novels.

The life of the brothers before entering the academy.

Compared to Roel, who is praised and loved by everyone, Ross is hated and compared to everyone and falls into despair.

If it was the Roel I knew, it was obvious that she would blame it on herself. She would also be feeling guilty at the thought of what her brother deserved and what she might have taken away from her.

So I said it on purpose. She told me how hard it was for her when she was by Roel’s side, and how much I wanted to die because of my inferiority complex.

I felt guilty when I saw Roel bowing his head like a criminal at my words and making a pitiful expression, but on the other hand, I was also angry.

Even though he knew it wasn’t his fault, he hated seeing him act like a criminal.

“I asked why you didn’t write to your parents?”

Roel, who had lowered his eyes like a criminal at my words that seemed angry, raised his head and looked at me.

Most of what I said was a lie, but my soaring inferiority complex adds persuasion to my words. Inferiority was an old sincerity, so there was no need for acting skills like actors.

I was a writer before I was Ross. A person who naturally imagines something and creates a story.

If you look at the attitude of Ross’ parents who met after being possessed, you can create a plausible story.

Anyway, if you compare my lies with the year Ross went through, there won’t be much difference. From what was written in Ross’ diary, it was clear how much he had been circling his family.

“My parents tried to fill his older brother’s void with me, who was lacking. And then he kept putting me down. The older brother does it easily, but he is worse than the older brother, so do at least half of the older brother.”

As I spoke in a sarcastic tone, Roel sighed and made an excuse like a criminal.

“I’m sorry…. I thought my parents would be good to you without me. I didn’t know that happened.”

And then, as always, Roel added with a sincere voice.

“I’m sorry, Ross. I should have cared more about you.”

There was no doubt that Roel’s words were sincere because of the guilt in his voice. In that voice, I could feel that I was rebuking myself for being complacent.

The ability to convey his true feelings in words. Even those who were hostile to Roel had the power to be persuaded by the sincerity of his words.

However, Roel’s ability did not work today. I must not be persuaded. I couldn’t even forgive Roel’s mistakes.

I had to make ugly choices for everyone.

“Ignore you when you need them, and don’t act nice now.”

When I said it as if he was disgusted with my hypocritical appearance, Roel replied with a desperate expression to clear up my misunderstanding.

“I am not pretending to be nice. I sincerely-“

“Do you know what Bella did to me?”

I deliberately interrupted Roel.

It is rude to interrupt someone in the middle. But it was an effective way to take the lead in conversation.

As expected, Roel looked very flustered. The word Bella suddenly came out of my mouth, and my gaze wavered at me with anxiety.

There is no way that Bella explained all of her own nefarious plans to Roel. What Bella told Roel was only a small part of her plan, an acceptable level of justice Roel thought.

A gnashing of teeth was heard from Roel, who brushed her face once. Judging by the strength in her chin, she seemed to be holding back her anger.

“What did Bella do to you?”

It was a lower voice than usual. I could see that he was holding back his anger, but I pretended not to know and said it sarcastically.

“Could she again say that she didn’t know? What a comfortable excuse.”

From my words, Roel was speechless. It wasn’t easy to continue talking even if it was Roel because of my sarcastic intention of interrupting the conversation.

Conversation is giving and receiving. Now, this was just a one-sided venting of anger, with only one side having a say.

“You are a monster.”

Roel and Ellie’s eyes focused on me at the words that I spat out. Ignoring the deep emotion in Roel’s gaze, he continued talking.

“A monster who takes everything from me. I feel inferior to you and hate you. It makes me sick of pretending nothing is wrong and being like close brothers.”

Roel’s complexion changed. As if shocked by my words, a small moan escaped his teeth.

“Lo, Ross… !”

Ellie opened her mouth on her own, but let’s say ‘promise’ with her mouth so that Roel, who lowered his head as she glared at her with fierce eyes, couldn’t see. In the end, Ellie had no choice but to bite her lip.

I continued talking in a calm voice.

“All I had left was one friend, Ellie. I was afraid that even that would come to you, so I told you on purpose. I like ellie If you say that, I knew that you, a hypocrite, would reject Ellie’s heart that her sister likes by force, because you were pretending to be nice.”

“What… ?”

I twisted my lips at Roel, who lifted her head and looked at her with surprised eyes.

“If I couldn’t have it, I would rather break it so you wouldn’t have it either. Because I don’t want to concede anything to you anymore.”

Right after I finished my words, Roel kicked off his chair and ran at me.

A startled Ellie screamed, but Roel’s eyes were still fixed on me.

Roel glared at me with watery eyes as I was raised up with my collar grabbed.

“Tell me it’s a lie. Yes you… There’s nothing like that.”

It was angry, but it sounded like it begged me to deny it.

It was a really annoying ability. I felt Roel’s earnestness enough to shake my resolve.

I gritted my teeth and rather grabbed Roel’s collar and shouted as I brought her face closer.

“You took everything from me!”

At my cry, the tears in Roel’s eyes fell to the floor, leaving a mark on his cheek.

I felt the strength of the hand holding my collar weaken.

“I-I was going to do that….”

“You took everything I wanted. Did I have to watch you take away even the only one left of me? Even just one, the one I was really desperate for…. Was it that hard for you, who has everything, to give in?”

Roel dropped her hand helplessly. I hurriedly yelled at Roel, who was shedding tears and was sincerely saddened.

“I am happy without you. I will no longer be compared to my brother who is a genius. There is no such thing as being unable to sleep due to an inferiority complex. No one approaches to get close to you, and no one asks me about you. I have a friend to share a serious friendship with. Also, I have someone who truly loves me, not you.”

Releasing the collar, I shoved Roel on the shoulder.

Roel, who had been pushed helplessly, looked at me with tears in his eyes.

I clenched my fists at the sight of Roel muttering that he was sorry.

“After entering the academy, I was truly happy. But I found out too late That Bella threatened Ellie and Luna because I liked them, and forced them to be bullied and left them alone at the academy.”

As if I had been kicked in the chest by my words, Roel twitched his body greatly and asked with a stupid expression.

“What… ?”

I approached Roel. I said holding onto Roel’s shoulder who was breathing heavily as if he was overbreathing.

“The more involved you are in my life, the more unhappy I become. When I’m by your side, I’m weighed down by an inferiority complex, and it’s hard to even breathe.”

We met eyes with blue eyes wet with tears. I spoke to Roel, who looked like he was about to collapse.

“So, brother. Just once, just once, I’ll ask you to be my little brother. Now please, get out of my life.”

Roel knelt down in front of me as if his legs were giving up. Leaving Roel sobbing and curled up on the classroom floor, I looked back at Ellie.

Like Roel, Ellie looked shocked. Why does Ellie know that my words are lies? I sent a look full of questions, but I left the classroom without a word.

I thought I was good at lying. Because he was a writer who turned his imagination into a story. It was easy for me to tell a false story as if it were true.

I thought this was the only way to change to the original flow. It was an action with confidence, but it felt like a part of my heart had been crushed by something.

“Lo, Ross!”

I heard Ellie’s voice urgently shouting my name from behind.

I stopped involuntarily. But I didn’t look back.

Even I wasn’t sure what kind of expression I was going to make.

Ellie’s wet voice came through the hallway walls.

“Why, why did you lie like that? Just telling the truth what I did….”

I didn’t want to answer. Because it couldn’t be explained.

But regardless of my will. I don’t know if it’s a long-standing habit of this body or instinct, but I answered without knowing.

“You are my friend.”

Was that the answer of Ross inside me, or was it an unconscious conclusion I came to?

I heard Ellie’s cry from behind.

“Hey, hehehe…” Sorry, sorry Ross. My, i really… I was wrong, sorry….”

At Ellie’s voice full of guilt, I suppressed my rising emotions and said.

“Go back and comfort her brother. When your brother asks, tell him what happened to Bella. And tell me your truth again. I really like it. Then everything will be settled.”

Saying that, I was overcome with the urge to hit something.

I wanted to bleed not only in my heart, but also in my hands.

My role ended here. It was Ellie’s job from now on.

I ran out of the hallway, as if running away.

Ellie’s cry lingered in my heart.

  1. glad this happened, none of the novels I read had something like this where MC is buried under the genius of their siblins or friend that they develop inscecurities.

First time that their relationship broke in order for the other to grow and ironically the inferior needs to cut ties with the superior in order to stand on his own outside of the shadow of the better
