There Is No Salvation for Extras chapter 1

There Is No Salvation for Extras 1

1 – Can’t you change fate no matter how hard you try?

-I’m sorry, but you won’t be able to use your legs anymore.

These were the first words he heard from the doctor when he was growing up, after he was hit by a car while trying to save a young child running into the driveway.

It would be truly absurd to hear for yourself that your legs, which you thought would be fine all your life, are not moving. This is especially true if you hear about it from a doctor.

Still, I could understand it until then. Well, growing up without parents, working like crazy, living this crappy life, and not being able to use one of my legs – of course, that wasn’t what I thought.

I think he just thought that if the life of a young child who could have lived a different life from his own was exchanged for my legs, he had no choice.

It was like that at the time. Then.

How uncomfortable it is to live in a wheelchair because your legs cannot move. I didn’t know how lamentable it would be to live alone without a lover or family, and to not be able to walk.

I stopped doing what I was doing. How is he going to go to work if he can’t drive a car in the first place? Since he quit his job, he had no way to make money, but that didn’t stop him from finding a new job. I’ve been working in the field all my life and making money, so how could I do anything else now?

I was fine – no, I wasn’t fine.

It didn’t take long for the once healthy office worker to end up holed up in a corner of his room and playing games. His clean-cut exterior began to become more and more devastated, and so did his mental state. He became more and more delusional and lived only by watching games and cartoons, and before he knew it, he had become a wreck.

Well, now that I think about it, this might just be an excuse. If only I had consistently studied a job that allowed me to work from home, or if I had made a lover or a friend before my leg got hurt, or if I just hadn’t saved that little child.

If he had chosen one of the numerous IFs, he might have lived a different life. If that were the case, he might not have been possessed by the game he had seen the ending countless times.

Anyway – now that’s a meaningless story.

In the end, he passed out in front of the computer, and when he opened his eyes, he found that he had been possessed by the game.

“-What are you?”

What kind of life would you live if you were possessed by the game world, or even by an extra who appears as just a classmate of the main character?

Hasn’t everyone had this delusion at least once? This is even more so if you are a person who has lived a miserable and goddamn life, and if you are a coward and a defeated person who played games in the corner of your room with bad legs and had no intention of going outside.

If the game you’ve been longing for is possessed by extras you don’t even know much about – wouldn’t most people think this way?

Since you already know the information about the game, you can monopolize the role and become a hero who saves the world, or you can secretly help the already existing main character, or you can act as a helper next to the main character and gain fame, or you can completely save the world. You could become a shadowy figure who joins the invading enemy and helps destroy the world.

Good and evil, heroes and villains. No matter what direction you imagine, most people will think this way.

You become stronger, your enemies are helpless, you fall in love with heroines, and in the end, you live a life praised by others – either way, you become an important person who takes the lead and changes the flow of the world. You probably have at least one ambition to become someone.

That’s right. No matter how much one denies it, people are beings who live with the desire to improve. Even if you were possessed by the game world, no one would want to live the same life of a loser as before.

A body that has become skinny due to not eating properly or exercising, and a wronged mind that has no money or leisure, but is afraid to step out into the world due to something done in the past, so it is locked in a corner of the room.

If a person wants to continue that life as is, he or she would not even think about wanting to be possessed by the game in the first place. All I do is type on the keyboard and mouse and live with dead eyes in a narrow room.

Of course, he was not that type. Because he was a man who wanted to get a chance to get over his damn miserable past life and live a decent life.

If there is a difference between him and his fellow paranoids as above – while others would end up with delusions, does it mean that he was actually possessed in the game world?

I was excited at first.

The leg that was damaged in the accident and could not walk properly returned to normal, the skinny body changed to that of a normal person, the face of a disabled person that I looked at in the mirror every day changed to that of a healthy boy, and the supernatural power felt in my body. When I realized this, I was so happy that I laughed like crazy.

Of course, the fact that I was possessed by a mid-boss who met a tragic ending and an extra whose name did not even appear in the game was a little dizzying, but it was still not bad.

Choi Ji-hyeon, who was her favorite game heroine before her possession, and the world where she is her childhood friend. Unlike before, it was the best start for him as he was equipped with an environment where he could live normally.

Although it was only a year, I was possessed before the start of the original work and had time to adjust to the body, and also time to train my superpowers with my childhood friend.

He had no intention of wasting the year, and he devoted himself to training every day.

He continued to train, believing that he would eventually be able to overcome his physical condition that prevented him from walking well because he was still not used to it, and his weak ability to simply cut down small objects – and that was how he realized reality.

Studying was okay. The language was the same, and since it was a game made by Koreans, there wasn’t much cultural difference.

The problem was the body and the superpowers that exist in this game.

It’s been over 6 years since I haven’t used my legs. There is no way that such a person would remember the sensation of walking suddenly. Walking and running were okay to some extent, but it wasn’t enough to move nimbly and overpower the villain.

Superpower? There is no way that someone who has lived their whole life in an ordinary world can suddenly become good at using superpowers. The ability to cut something down was truly attractive, but it could only cut down small objects.

No matter how much I trained, it didn’t change. On the other hand, his childhood friend has surpassed him.

A gap in talent that cannot be made up through effort. The power of a heroine that cannot be surpassed by extras.

That fact drove a nail into his heart, and he almost collapsed.

-Don’t be too upset. I will help you.

If it weren’t for her, he probably wouldn’t have been able to endure. She continued to help him, and thanks to her support, he did not give up.

As time passed, I finally walked through the school gate, laughing and chatting with my childhood friend. An auditorium with many people gathered, a fancy entrance ceremony, and lectures from teachers, as well as a greeting from the main character as a representative of new students.

He imagined a bright future, constantly recalling the information about the characters in this game and what would happen in the future, but once again he realized reality.

From Noble mtl dot com

This was the game’s tutorial, but is now a thing of the past. The first tragedy to hit the academy.

Numerous people wearing black masks stormed into the auditorium. With the sound of gunshots, blood and flesh splattering here and there, and students struggling among them. The teachers, the main character, and some students who, unlike them, somehow manage to fight. The moment he realized that he was left alone in the middle of the scene, he sat down without even thinking about using his supernatural powers and felt the reality.

This is not a good world where we can be kind to mere extras. It is a world where blood splattering and people dying are considered funny. The delusions I had before I was possessed and the stories in the novels I sometimes enjoyed were just my imagination.

When he realized for himself that the first tutorial he learned how to operate was a tragedy in which people really died in a sudden attack, and that there were limits to subduing villains with weak superpowers – he gritted his teeth.

Nevertheless, was it arrogance or foolishness that did not run away after the tragedy?

Because it was my first time. Because there is another chance. Because I thought I might still be able to do it. Because I didn’t want to live the same damn life as I did back then – etc.

I studied and trained like crazy while thinking of numerous reasons. I would have been able to boast that I tried my hardest both before and after being possessed.

I conserved sleep and trained endlessly to prepare for the future ahead. I secretly sent a message to the main character to inform him of the upcoming threat, and I also experienced real combat by defeating enemies with my childhood friend.

When he defeated the first mid-boss and even the boss, he was so happy that he even shed tears, which was unusual for him.

Until he realized that what he had been doing all this time was meaningless.

In the end, when we reached the limit of the extras who appeared only as classmates, not as the main characters. When he hit the huge wall of the reality of his catastrophic lack of talent – he just collapsed.

Even if we returned to before the original, there wasn’t much time to prepare. Even though he worked hard, his legs didn’t move as well as anyone else’s body, and he was possessed without a status window that was clearly present in the game, so he was the weakest and couldn’t even use his superpowers.

No matter how much I study, my grades are average. Even though he was one of the few superpowers in the world, he was an ordinary and weak student at the academy.

Beomjae said that if you work hard, you can’t overcome a genius who doesn’t try, and a late-life failure student couldn’t overcome a genius no matter how hard he tried. As the background of the game, this academy was a place where many geniuses gathered, and as those geniuses even put in effort, the gap grew wider.

At first, I was angry. He cursed God, asking why he had given such a meager talent to someone who had worked so hard for such a long time despite being given a chance.

And then I despaired. He accepted the reality that nothing would change even if he got angry anyway.

After this – I’m not sure. Even when his childhood friend knocked on the door and mumbled something, he turned a blind eye. He locked himself in his assigned dormitory room and devoted himself endlessly to training, shedding tears endlessly at the reality that things were not getting much better.

Of course, I didn’t think that it would have been better if I hadn’t been possessed. My previous life was even more miserable than my current life as a failure student.

How great it would have been if I had just strong power, not this f*cking trash power, but proper power, or at least the power to become stronger along with that effort if I put in effort. I was just thinking that way.

Time passed meaninglessly like that, and now it is.

“Oh, I remembered. “Lee Hyeon-woo, right?”

While he was walking along with his resignation letter in hand, he ran into the villain. Like the scene where he becomes the second mid-boss, which couldn’t have started yet.
