81 – The Unqualified Person -5-

[Part 2 ‘The One Who Does Not Deserve’ begins.]

Once again, Yuria’s sight went blank.

Immediately, the morning air she had been breathing became the stifling air of the dungeon, and Yuria slowly opened her eyes and let out a deep sigh.

‘I must have misunderstood Ricardo…’

Yuria’s mind was in a turmoil.

‘I thought it was all Ricardo’s doing. I…’

The idea that she hated, despised an innocent person, her face began to darken.

‘Should I apologize?’

Yuria took a deep breath and lifted her head.

A ceiling made of stone.

Standing in the mossy dungeon corridor between the bricks, was Yuria.

And in a corner of the dungeon,

A girl with pink hair was mourning, covering her eyes with her hands, and standing alone.

Looking at the collapsed entrance her past self was crying over, Yuria clenched her fists.

[The reading will begin in 10 minutes.]

Her own weeping figure.

As a troubled heart and a sudden thought began to overwhelm her upon seeing the sorrowful image of herself crying bowed in the past,

The blue window began to tell the story she had been through.

[That day, you were abandoned by your friends.]

A familiar tale she already knew.

You were abandoned, blocked from returning, and mournfully crying, a painful memory the blue window was needlessly speaking of.

‘I know.’

Yuria clenched her fists and glared at the blue window with resentment, but the blue window only continued its story of her past.

[It was a suspicious proposal. It was suspicious when he came to the dormitory early in the morning, when the friend you had only exchanged light greetings with suddenly came to see you, and when he suggested exploring the dungeon together, but you nodded your head.

Then, you were being ostracized and felt lonely.

It was awkward with Ricardo.

Since your close friends started avoiding you, the invitation from your friends felt welcome after a long time.

Even if it was a strange request to explore the dungeon so early in the morning.]

Yuria muttered with a voice filled with anger. She’d always been far from anger, but Yuria, whose heart was fluctuating at the painful words spoken by the blue window, was not herself.

‘I know.’

Yuria, clinching her fist, shouted in her heart. She let out a cry filled with rage, why do they touch one’s painful heart?

‘I know well too. Be quiet…’

Already agitated, Yuria resented the blue window that kept on provoking her.

I know, so…

Please…

Shut up…

Yuria shielded her ears and huddled down, pleading for no more words, but the bluntly ringing story from the blue window began to cool Yuria’s blood.

[That day, the friends who went to the dungeon with you were students who gathered upon the request of your close friend, ‘Kaira’.

She gave you an attractive offer to cover a lot of money and academy tuition, asking for you to be left in the dungeon.

Your friends, who held negative feelings about you, accepted that suggestion and decided to abandon you in a deeper place than originally planned.]

[When they abandoned you, they said:

-Why are you behaving like this? Don’t you like men?

-You’re making the common people laugh because of you. Act fit for your status.

-I didn’t like you from the start. Especially you wagging your tail to the men…

The repayment for being kind was abuse. You had no choice but to get hurt.

Now, before the crumbled exit by magic, you fell into despair.

Neither the way back nor the wounded heart.

Your devastated heart was afraid to go back to the academy.

You didn’t dare to see their faces, and your wounded heart did not subside easily.

And then, at that moment.

You start to hear a fatal voice in your weakened ear.

-Come here.

-I’ll avenge you.

-Don’t you want to kill? I’ll fulfill any wish.

100 years ago, a black wizard named ‘Calix’ who was defeated by the knights of the empire was tickling your ears.]

The story of the blue window began to tell a truth that she did not know.

Yuria, who kept avoiding and blocking her ears, was startled and lifted her head to the sudden words of the blue window.

Slowly lifting her head with moist eyes, Yuria looked at the blue window with trembling eyes.

‘What did you say…?”

The blue window instantly solved Yuria’s doubt.

[Calypsos is preparing for a revival.

He’s trying to replenish his dark magic, healing the wounds he received in a battle a hundred years ago, and he’s planning to seduce someone like you.]

[You walked into it.]

[And.]

[A man who followed you took your hand as you were walking toward death.]

The last paragraph struck Yuria hard. That you were on the verge of dying, but Ricardo saved you.

Yuria grimaced at the blue window, her chest tight with tension.

‘This is a ridiculous… How can…’

-Tick…

-Tick…

-Tick…

The timer on the blue window displays ’00:00.’ Yuria’s break time was over.

[The reading will begin.]

As the blue window disappears, a sorrowful cry is heard.

-Sniff… Sob… Haaa…

Her own voice from the past, crying miserably, echoes in Yuria’s ears.

-What… sob..What did I do wrong? All I wanted was to be friends with everyone… sob..

Yuria looks at her past self, sobbing and rubbing her eyes, through wavering eyes.

-Ahhh..Why does everyone hate me… I tried so hard.

It wasn’t pleasant seeing herself crying.

‘Don’t cry.’

-I just…

‘Don’t cry because nothing is changed by tears. Yuria.’

-I want to get along with everyone…

‘Stop crying…’

Her past self walked towards the depth of the dungeon with unsteady steps.

The blue window was right. She was afraid of going back to the academy, and the thought of seeing them again darkened her vision.

She honestly thought it was scary.

Even if she got along well with her professors and a few friends, it was hard to bear the icy atmosphere in the classroom.

She felt like refuse, something one would begrudge touching or nearing.

So,

Her past self had fled to the profound depths of the dungeon. Because she had thought it would be easier to conceal herself.

Yuria murmured as she looked at her past self’s drooped shoulders.

“That’s enough now.”

She didn’t know why such a thing was appearing in her sight, but she understood her mistake. She earnestly hoped for a conclusion.

Because she understood that it wasn’t Ricardo’s doing. Yuria clenched her fists tightly and yelled at the blue window in front of her, acknowledging her blunder for misunderstanding.

The blue window offered no response.

Yuria screamed out with frustration.

“Just one time… Just one…! I misunderstood once, but Ricardo tormented me far more!”

Admitting her wrongdoing didn’t erase it.

However,

Compared to what Ricardo did to her at the Academy, her misunderstanding was a drop in the bucket.

Yeah, it was just one time.

The event of her becoming a dropout from the dungeon. One time.

Ricardo had inflicted more serious events on her, and she had cried more because of them.

If the blue window in front of her appeared wishing for her to realize her mistake, Yuria thought it vastly miscalculated.

Such things should not be shown to her, but to Ricardo.

Because of how hard it was at that time.

How much she suffered due to unrequited love. Ricardo would never know.

So…

She wished it would stop now.

If not…

-Huh…

Because it felt like her past self was becoming too pathetic.

About 10 minutes had passed.

While walking down the hallway, her vision gradually blurred. Her past self, without focus, as if entranced, began walking towards the depths of the dungeon.

-So noisy…!

-I never thought about killing a friend!

-Shut up…!

Yuria felt a chill as she saw her past self, wrapped in her own thoughts, endlessly muttering to herself.

– No…

She shook her head from side to side.

– I am not alone.

Her past self, gradually voicing negative words, appeared before Yuria’s eyes.

Had she been mumbling to herself like a madman for quite a while? Blocking her ears and staggering, her past self slowly started to find stability and began to mumble.

-Yes, I just have to start over from the beginning. If I remove my friends and make new ones, I won’t be alone then.

-Yes, they’re the bad ones. So, it’s right to punish them.

With a vacant look in her eyes, her past self began knocking on the walls of the dungeon.

Her past self, who until a moment ago, was standing opposite Hans at the altar of greed, was now knocking on a passage leading to it.

As the knock reverberated within the space behind the walls, the walls, emitting a creepy vibe, began crumbling with a rumbling noise.

    1. Dootdeedooterson says:

In fairness he did torment her. The alternative tho would of been worse. The princess/student council president was able to piece that together but most others haven’t. He also did himself no favors by just absorbing their hate
