Been there myself and while you do develop some resistance you also become pickier because of the bad experiences. Helps alot enjoying more novels when you know what you’re looking for though.

Anyway, it’s a story about a cop MC most of the time, sometimes we get a pov from the heroine or the villain, but that’s a rarity. It pops up about 3 time I think? Yea, because of his hotheaded youth, now he’s suffering the consequences, plus when the villain gets obsessed with him, toying him around, you can see where it goes.
And did I mention the heroine and the villain are females? Yea just in case, obsession here contains female most of the time.
